Sable ushered in the popularity of the "TNA" phrase. I remember when I first heard that there was a promoter/TV show with that as their branding I was like "why would anyone choose to beat a dead catchphrase with their event as its namesake and want to be taken seriously". All of that because they chose to promote Sable more instead of Chyna. I'm not going to give her sh!t for doing porn and what became of her life after WWF. She was actually a good wrestler. My father thought she was hot, and as a kid I was thinking "shouldn't she be liked for wrestling?" but that's basically the only reason they had women on there for a long time. It wasn't until a few years ago when I watched it with my uncle for old time's sake that they finally had women on there who could wrestle and weren't being paraded out as sex objects.

@seankately4411 Taz wasn't very tall in general. He didn't use a powerhouse style, so that wouldn't have been an issue. You have a submission grappler that wrestles like a shooter and a powerhouse character driven wrestler that wrestles like a shooter. Their styles would have worked perfectly. Especially with Taz being a good worker. I'll bet it would have been good.

The Monday Night War was a weird thing over here in Britain in that RAW was shown on SKY sports (which wasn't cheap) on the Friday night and there was almost no WCW on our TV. Cartoon Network Channel changed to TNT at 7pm and for a short while there was a 1 hour condensed version of Nitro on the Friday night 7-8. Then a short lived WCW worldwide on Channel 5 in the late 90's. So for most Brits we were WWF all the way without having the choice

Killings went over n helped him self to some Mahee Mahee at the catering area. Cultaholic mentions it was Rey Guerrero n a couple others asking Road Dogg n company what exactly are u doin here? i do question Eddie coming out with Rey to confronting the Impact! players cuz Eddie passed in 2005. i know TNA shortly became a thing after WCW died, but i don't think cookiegate was before 2005. i mean i know Killings got released n wound up signing with TNA when it started. i am jus curious if am wrong or if cultaholic is wrong on the CookieGate timeline.

Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), was a professional wrestling promotion and media company that was based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The promotion was founded in 1992 by Tod Gordon as National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) affiliate Eastern Championship Wrestling. How about when he refused to take Nash's powerbomb in their cage match in 96 because........."it'll make me look weak" Undertaker responded with "MOTHERFUCKER, NOT EVERYTHING IS ABOUT YOU!" Remind me again how the WWF did after Bret left? They FLOURISHED! They got rid of both of their egotistical douchtarts and it allowed for home grown talent to grow into stars! And now look at Bret. @mattiasgarbi9470 - The TNA Ayslum back in 2003 or so. TNA paid bad actors to portray Vince and Triple H in a backstage CCTV segment. It was more of a comedy skit, but kinda like something we were supposed to the seriously. 🤣

Sable is the quintessential first diva in wrestling, sued the WWE, appeared on Nitro, still had a final run. And married one of the top stars in the company. Metaphorically she’s making millions more than Trish or Charlotte and the industry won’t even usher her name.

Except Sable wasn't the first diva. Vince McMahon and everyone else will tell you it's Sunny. Also, there's a good reason nobody in WWE will mention Sable's name. They're scared of her husband Brock Lesnar. Further, Miss Elizabeth who was in WWF before either of the other ladies is the first lady of wrestling.
@TheRealAdaWong
@TheRealAdaWong Жыл бұрын
@@stevegallo8483 While I agree with all of your comments, I said Sable is the “quintessential” first diva for a reason. She did Playboy, she was at one point probably the top star in the industry for a short time, she sued the company and still came back, and she’s a women’s champion. She was hotter than fire itself statistically speaking. Miss Elizabeth, Sunny, Francine, they’re all memorable in their own retrospect, but Sable did way more in the company than most women at the time. The only woman to secede her stardom was Chyna, and she was a league of her own. My point is, a lot of these women cut out a path for themselves, but Sable blazed the trail for the diva complex.
@TheRealAdaWong
@TheRealAdaWong Жыл бұрын
@@stevegallo8483 Plus if you look at Sunny and unfortunately Miss Elizabeth’s history, they didn’t do well for themselves. Sable will never appear again because Rena accomplished what she wanted, she didn’t have to comeback or ride out a career with WWE. She made her own legacy and married the game, that is a true diva.

@@TheRealAdaWong Sable was a no-talent gold-digger. The only thing she had was her surgically enhanced "features." She couldn't wrestle for shit. She couldn't talk on the mic for shit. She couldn't even dance for shit. Sunny was hotter IMO. She was natural. She didn't need 637 hours of plastic surgery to be hot. Granted, Sunny's a piece of trash now, but if I had my choice back then......Sunny every time.

oh wow that was Rey Rey wit his face blurred out? shocker. even be4 WCW folded we still know what Rey Jr. looks like without his mask. why hide it if we seen it be4😆? this timeline has to be off cuz when TNA walked up on WWE's turf, this was like at least a yr or 2 after 2005. Guerrero passed round november of 05 so this timeline can't be accurate cuz i began to shortly watch TNA cuz i didn't like how WWE was portraying Eddie's passing as a cash grab practically giving Rey the world belt putting Guerrero in the 06 hall of fame having orton blowing up his lowrider i mean it goes on n on.😔

I miss ECW so fucking much. ECW going out of business made me lose interest in wrestling overall. They almost got me back all those years ago when ECW "came back" but... it was godawful, and now I just stick to KZbin videos watching like, 80's and 90's stuff.

Paul Heyman wasn't actually the owner of ECW; it was Tod Gordon who funded the company and was the original owner. Heyman con his way into the company back when it was eastern championship wrestling in '92. before paul rebrand it into extreme championship wrestling in 1994 once he gain ownership of the company.
