With Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Sean Waltman leaving WWE for WCW as the Monday Night Wars took off in 1996, WCW truly was where the "big boys" played. Less than two years later, however, at a time when WWE began closing the gap on their competitor, controversial circumstances led to one of those three men exiting WCW, and they quickly found themselves back at the gates of Titan Towers.

I saw him on an Indy show in 06. Worst case of split personality I've seen lol. Advertised as Sean waltman, announced as syxx, and came out to the dx theme. I tried to get a "123" chant started but nobody joined in

Yeah for me it is the all-time number 1 Raw moment. Like the guy above said… That added to Austin’s win the night before, was the final turning point of the war indeed. Many people underestimate how huge that was, getting that iconic Kliq/NWO character back onto Raw. In the scheme of the “which show is actually the cooler place to be” factor, that meant everything.

Sean Waltman is awesome and I grew up watching him, both WWF/E and WCW. He truly made a name in wrestling and added to being a part of TNA Wrestling cemented his legacy.

I love watching Sean Waltmans shoot interviews lmfao. The guy was there for almost every major event lmfao. Shockmaster? X-Pac was there. Montreal? X-pac was there. WCW Buyout? X-Pac was there. If only WCW knew how to book Cruiserweights and give them a proper chance, Sean Waltman would have been a great Upper Midcard heel for not just The N.W.O but WCW as a whole

Waltman was actually the ticket for the cruiserweights to become upper midcarders. Eric got lucky with the NWO but made dumb decisions with them from the start. Waltman would have been super valuable for WCW.

A few years of bad booking really did kill so much of Waltman’s momentum didn’t it? That intro gave me literal goosebumps, and is befitting of a worker of his caliber.

Wait, so Bischoff told the internet the day after X-PAC’s WWF return that ‘It didn’t make sense to keep one of their friends under contract.’ But 20 years later on his podcast tells Sean that it wasn’t in response to Hall & Nash? I think Eric is an important part of wrestling history, but damn dude, keep your stories straight. Just one of them lol

The timing of so many events during the Monday Night Wars was just uncanny...like with Michaels going on the shelf after Mania 14..DX could have easily disbanded...or just consisted of HHH/Chyna and the Outlaws..but having Waltman available to fill that Michaels role proved invaluable

It is odd/lucky that Waltman was in WCW when they were on top and then back in WWF when they were on top. Conversely, Bret Hart was in WWF when they were losing and in WCW when they were losing.

Waltman may be one of the most, not underrated exactly, but more under-appreciated or overlooked performers in the WWE, and the industry in general. At least among the fans. I admit that may not actually be the case, however. It's just my perception.

Oh my God! I was at that house show in Duluth, MN! I was all of 10 years old. I remember the Syxx-Luger match, but I had zero memory of the fact that Syxx disappeared from WCW right after that.

Re-signing Waltman in a great spot really got people to believe wcw sucked. Way more than a wcw guy coming over he was a wwf guy who went to wcw and came back, jarret wasnt a big deal to get back and he left again too

It really was a shame that WCW turned out as it did, despite being a good competitor to the WWF at the time. While there could only be one true winner, I wish for a scenario where WCW remained as an alternative.

Waltman had no choice but to leave WWE in 96 because at the time WWE have wasn't paying top stars money like that and X-Pac was the shit and he was a vital part of the nwo in the early stages so he was with WCW for almost 3 years making bank but then he got injured in 97 and you know how Bischoff was with injured people he was quick to fire people if they got hurt because it was all hand's on deck, his second WWE run was the way better until 01-02 which was a shame he could have been ic champion

I never understood the Monday Night Wars. TNT would always play an encore of Nitro latter in the night so I'd watch Raw at the regular time and nitro later. If you could watch both every Monday what difference did it make

Both shows kept you interested and wanted to channel surf back and forth. Sometimes you will look at one segment of wrestling over the other and vice versa. Sometimes you will look at the whole show over the other one because you already know how predictable they were.
