Very Cool Review. I just received an Insta360 X3 for Christmas. Doing a lot of research for a Michigan Sunday Christmas Eve ride. I am building a basic system and I think it will be complete by Sunday. Cheers. Will be riding my 1972 Honda XL250. Subscribed.

I've been wanting to do this for a while when I got my Honda Super Cub, but I quickly realized that there's almost nowhere to mount a clamp. I can attach it to the rack on the back, but it won't work if I have my pillion seat on. Then I remembered that the center rack I bought has a bar across the top for mounting clamp type items and thought "that would be the perfect place to clamp to!". I can have it up high, I can stick it out the sides, I can do whatever I need to with it :D

Just returned back to Chiang Mai from the Jazz and Blues festival in Pai. No rain, so the ride home there and back was spectacular. It would have been great to have the insta360. I guess another ride will be in the near future. Thanks for the info.

Very nice! How was the festival, and which route did you choose to ride back, the R1095 or R1349 route? Rainy Season is actually my favourite season. I never trust the weather reports and use Windy App instead if I need to. I'm enjoying the Insta360 so far. Buying the x3 model instead of the x2 was worth it imo. The large touchscreen makes a difference, plus it shoots in 5.7k. Thanks for your comment !

The reason why the panel is detachable is to enable the external mic adaptor to function without any restrictions, I guess😎 Maybe Insta360 could think of a design where the detachable piece could be fixed into an empty slot in the camera while it's being used with an external mic, so it won't get lost by chance😇💯 Cheers from Bangalore, India

Thanks for video, as it happens just got the insta 360 X3 and the microphone adapter. The adapter is a bit heath robinson and I sent it back this morning. On thing I discovered is the X3 can pair with the apple AirPods wireless and also use the microphones, This might be a good option to try.
@motogirlthailand
@motogirlthailand 6 ай бұрын
Hi Sandy. Yeh, I'm not so happy with the mic set up. I did actually try pairing with my Galaxy buds before buying the mic adaptor and although it worked, I felt the sound wasn't a nice round kind of sound. Tbh though, even with the mic adapter, it's still not giving great sound either. Then again, I'm using a cheap mic. Buying the mic adapter is one tool that really wasn't so useful for me because I'm doing more voiceovers than direct recording. Maybe I'll make use of it later. For me the bigger waste of money was the official sticky lenses. Maybe I'll use the mic adapter at least. Might do a sound comparison test later to see how the buds sound versus how the mic sounds. Thanks for the useful comment!

@@motogirlthailand So far my sticky lens adapters are ok but its early days with those. Would be interesting how you get on with sound solutions.
@motogirlthailand

Sound is very frustrating! I think that's really because its a cheap microphone, though. The problem is that it can get quite costly to keep buying new accessories, and currently sound is low on my priority list because I mostly do voiceovers rather than record whilst riding. I might start introducing elements with that, so I'm guessing a new mic needs to be on the cards at some point. :/ if I do solve it, I'll post an update.

@motogirlthailand
@motogirlthailand 11 ай бұрын
...I did try it, but I didn't like the stitch line. In post, in the insta desktop, I had to export the footage with the dive case setting, because otherwise you can see the lens. Thus, it cuts out more of the footage giving a more noticeable stitch line. I'm not impressed with it. However, I like that I have it incase I need to use the dive case and switch between both quickly. I just won't be using it in general. My next purchase will be some glass lens protectors that I'll need to order overseas and wait for delivery. I've heard these are much better. Once I get these lenses I'll make a comparison video showing the three kinds of lenses. Hopefully the glass ones will be an improvement. Overall its a no from me on the removable lens, sadly :(

My bike is just a Kawasaki 250cc, Jonathan, but serves me well up here in the north. I love Northern Thailand! I had an old model of Samsung Gear 360 previously, but had issues with the ball shape and of the resolution was only 2k (which, when spread out over 360 area, was very low quality, unfortunately). So, I'm happy that I took the plunge and got the Insta360x3. The x3 shoots 5.7k and has the big touch screen, plus a follow mode setting. Pretty happy so far!

However, there might be an issue with stitching with these, if they are anything like the plastic ones i have. Hi John. You have made a good point. Sound is something i rarely use (I prefer voiceovers), but I suspect it will be an issue. I've used an underwater case on GoPro before and the sound was terrible, so I imagine it will be the same with the waterproof insta case. When I eventually buy the removable premium lens guards, I will make an update video testing sound with the removable guard and waterproof/ underwater case. Sorry that it doesn't help you right at this moment, but my thoughts are that sound will be a problem.

Oh this is so embarrassing. I did not see your comment. So sorry. Did you work it out already? Thing is, no single support will work when there is major drag, unfortunately. In that case it is always best to add a 2nd clamp support. (And tether your camera). Hope you managed to fix the issue! The Ulanzi is, imo, the strongest cla,p out there currently, but you still need an additional clamp because the unipod can snap at the base.

I'm still happy with the clamp. I did have one guy report back that he didn't like it. Apparently it was slipping. The way to combat that though, is to add some rubber electrical tape on the area you are clamping to, so that it has grip. Or something similar. How stable is ulanzi r099 clamp with extended stick weight and insta x3 at little bumpy roads? Does the selfie stick fall down or stay where it is. I read that stock motorcycle clamp and also telesin is not good which loosens ball head due to weight.
@motogirlthailand
@motogirlthailand 6 ай бұрын
Hi. I'm not sure if you are asking about the clamp slipping or the monopod collapsing down, so I'll answer both. First, the Ulanzi clamp is solid! It's a great design and works really well. Second; I have two monopods (one is from Ulanzi, and the other from Insta360). I found that the Ulanzi monopod handled bumps better than the insta. The insta tends to fold down faster. Both do fold down, but the Ulanzi less so. The Ulanzi also feels stronger. You can always tape the extended links, to ensure it won't collapse. I also recommend tethering, even though the Ulanzi clamp is strong. Bumpy roads will always cause some potential droop. But the clamp is really strong
@roninr8199
@roninr8199 6 ай бұрын
@@motogirlthailand Thank you for your reply. I should have framed my question correctly. Your second point answered my question. I have seen all complaints that selfie stick doesn't stand and keeps falling so in your video you mentioned that ball head is too strong and never moves. In that case only the selfie stick break in bad roads. So because of weight of stick plus insta ball head would still move. Still I hope this ulanzi r099 is better than other clamps? Also I am assuming with your channel name you drive motorcycle in Thailand? How easy it is to rent 200 to 300 cc bike in Thailand as a tourist would like to explore for 2 or 3 weeks. Thanks once again for your time.
@motogirlthailand
@motogirlthailand 6 ай бұрын
Hi. Sorry. I just noticed the new reply! When riding rough routes it is better to use the clamp without a selfie stick OR double clamping OR using a thicker selfie stick. I have a really old thick stick and created a mount attachment on my topbox (behind my back) which helps make things stronger. It's also a clamp link stick. I only use the clamp and selfie stick for interesting perspective shots, rather than lots of long intense riding. Actually, I'll make a new video at some point, discussing these in more depth. You have asked relevant and important questions. As for hiring a bike, I have a guide for riding in Thailand. It is very straightforward to hire a bike, just go to the relevant section in the guide for recommended rental places (based on N.Thailand, which is the best region for riding imo). Here is the guide: motogirlthailand.com/riding-thailand/ I own my own bike here but I've rented a few different models. No issues at all. Some companies will also allow you to take the bike over the border into Laos/Cambodia. You just need a signed document from them, giving you permission to take it across. :)

I have a riding in Thailand guide on my site with tips, important info, insurance companies, etc. I recommend always taking a video / photos of any damage on a rental bike to ensure you aren't charged for damage or scratches that were already on the bike. Never rent a bike that is brand new or perfect looking imo too, because the company will be more concerned about scratches etc on a brand new bike. :)

@motogirlthailand
@motogirlthailand 9 ай бұрын
I suppose if you only wish to film 360 footage for smaller screen, then the insta go can be a good option. Fun and small. Personally, my videos have been projected on a 360 dome, VR (for my Patrons) and TV. So, when you compare the InstaGO 2.7k resolution versus the 5.7k of the Insta360x3, it is a MASSIVE difference. Previously I was using the Samsung Gear 360 which shoots in a lower resolution (but still higher than the GO, I believe) and I found the 360 footage quality to be severely lacking. The difference in quality between the camera footage is incredible. The insta360 x3 absolutely wins in comparison when it comes to quality footage, in my experience. I have not experienced any overheating issues personally, despite it being on for many hours in tropical high heat. Do you have both the Insta Go3 and the Insta360 x3? If so, very nice! It might be that you need to play with the settings on the x3, if the footage you are getting isn't so good. Thanks for your comment and wish you fun times with your cameras :)

This is one of the few instances where an opinion can be objectively wrong. 😂😂😂 In no universe would the go 3 be better

Can you clarify what your question is, as it's not really clear, sorry. ("I bought," as in the past tense of "I buy". Not sure if that's what you are asking). 😊

The lens guards are terrible I’m sorry I wasted £20 on them. Fogged up 10 minutes into a ride. I ripped them straight back off

Which ones did you get? The Insta Sticky Lenses? I think insta needs to rethink these lenses. They scratch so easily. Scratch-wise the glass lenses perform better but I need to find a solution to the fogging, if possible. Its a real let down that the camera lenses can't be removed and replaced.
