My daily driver is a 77 Lincoln Mark V, nothing touches the luxury of a big 70's Lincoln. The leather bench seat is like a nice couch and it rides super smooth, I always tell people its like riding Grandma's porch swing.

I've had 2 1977 Mark Vs and a 77 Town Car. Something about that year. I still snoop around the classic car sites for one with a 460 that's priced right and in good condition. Finding both is a rare and expensive gem. Living rooms on wheels. :)

@@robintexas91 mine found me, I always wanted a big car, was looking for a 77 grand marquis but a neighbor put his mark V up for sale and it sat for 4 years before I decided to make an offer and I got it dirt cheap. Like criminal cheap 🤣 the roof needs a lot of work because the rust but the interior and engine bay are perfectly clean. Paint and metal work are going down soon.

I think that you should have mentioned the 2002 Lincoln Continental CE. My dad bought the last one that was on the showroom floor of the Lincoln dealer where he got his other car serviced. It has the 32 valve V-8, albeit front wheel drive, it was a beautiful car, black and had every option, including the air ride suspension that really felt like you were riding on air. My sister ended up with it. Who traded it because it had one bad cylinder and didn’t want to put the money out. But when the service manager saw the car, he got it. I later learned what the “CE” stood for, “Collector Edition,” and it sure lived up to that.

Really enjoyed this...Starting with my Dad we had a 1984 Continental, 1990 Town Car, 1992 Continental, 2000 Town Car, 2002 Continental. Dad has passed but his legacy brought me to my 2022 Corsair. I love it. Lincoln has taken its lumps but the current line up...though cross-over and SUV dominated, is world class. Now...if we can just get a sedan back I'll be in line. Great video.

I have been a Lincoln owner for many years. While we appreciate the script of the video, it is obvious that in a number of spots, the photos are not from the year that is being spoken of in the video. For example, when the video mentions the 1990 Town Car, the first photo is of a Town Car from at least 1995. There are many photos available on the internet that would make it possible for you to match the cars to the year(s) being talked about.

My Dad was a huge Cadillac man all his life. He was given a Lincoln Continental as a loaner…. And that week He went in and bought the 1990 Lincoln and gave up on Caddy. Being a retired New Jersey police officer he wants to have “ Command presence “He is now 87 and has a 2000 Lincoln LS that he knocks around in But for Church he drives a new Nautilus. I must admit it is a great long distance car. We drive from Fajardo to Ricon which is completely across Puerto Rico. In total comfort. The Nautilus has ( I went outside to look) has 10,078 miles. His 1990 has 275,000 more or less and still looks and drives like Day 1. We purchase the cars or trucks in either New Jersey or Connecticut and we put them in shipping containers and they come across to Puerto Rico. My Dad refuses to drive anything that does not have an American name. I pointed out where parts come from and parts… His answer is awww “ Shadapp!

Hi from Finland. I’ve always liked Lincoln Continentals and those older Town Cars. My uncle in Canada had one. That -56 Mark II was quite modern looking and this was the first time I saw it. The back suicide doors have always that luxury feeling. And if you have automatic locking system preventing accidental opening, those are safe too. Here in Finland we usually call them hijack doors.

I have had every “Mark” series and they were all great cars. I now currently have the Lincoln LS. I bought it just to have it ….. it is a very handsome yet understated design, and I LOVE to drive it! Much more sportier than my previous Lincoln’s, and yes, it is a shame that Lincoln allowed this car to die away. Oh, well, I’ll keep this one For a long long time! :-)

@@redjupiter2 I get some of the interior materials were better in the III vs the IV and V, but the IV and V were also built well. My Dad bought a '69 in Silver and Black when it was two years old, and he had a lot of electrical problems with it, while his '73 (Ginger Moondust) and '77 Cartier (Dove Grey) purchased new treated him well. They were all nice cars. My '77 Cartier, which I've had since 2006 (identical to Dad's) has been good to me too. I like the III along with the IV and V, but aside from *some* interior materials that in and of themselves were better in the III - like the wood in the 1970-71 - the IV and V were not actually built worse.

At 1:29: Lincoln Zephyr and the California Zephyr ...
@rustyturner431
@rustyturner431 2 ай бұрын
Photos are a problem, as others have noted. I'd also state that the Zephyr's 6-year run was hardly "long term success", the nameplate disappeared after the 1941 model year. The V-12 was not really powerful (at 110hp) or particularly efficient, but it WAS very smooth. The Mark II was a lovely thing and beautifully crafted, but my Ford connection (my uncle who was a Ford dealer durng that era) swore the factory guys admitted they lost over $4000/car (equivalent to over $46,000 today). Interestingly, when the divison closed, the headquarters was re-purposed as the main offices for Edsel! The '61-65 Continentals are still among the cleanest, most elegant modern American design, but the cars were HEAVY, weighing 400-800 pounds more than equivalent Cadillacs. This meant both economy and performance suffered by comparison, although "economy" was not much of a factor in this class of American car, in the day of $0.30/gallon premium fuel. The Mark III was a handsome thing and decently made, but just another saggy barge to drive. Still looks good, though. The later Marks were bloody awful, except for the Mark VII (the Hot Rod Lincoln of song), which was quite decent in LSC form. Lincoln would be much better-off had they merely kept developing the Town Car; none of its purported successors have been as good or as popular. Mark VIII - Didn't look much like a Lincoln, and drove better than expected; but it didn't sell. LS - A DIFFERENT Lincoln, but the cars had some problems (overheating inparticular) and the were tightly packcaged, making them hard to service and repair. the real problem was that traditional Lincoln buyers didn't want them and premium imoort buyers didn't even consider them.

From the very birth on Lincoln automobiles it was destined to be an exceptional design and distinction as the President that carries the same name of Truth-and exceptional brilliance. If we can all agree that these Lincoln automobiles reached the epitome of design style comfort and distinction. How could we have abandoned so many positives for the discusting junk that clutter our roadways and junk yards. We have all failed to recognize that once you start a downward spiral there is no recovery and must accept the doom and gloom in all manufactured goods.

Pra mim, o Lincoln melhor é o Continental Mark V Givenchy ou Cartier.

I wanted a Mark 8 SOOOOOOOOOOOOO BAD!!!! But never had the money. I was a teen in the 70s, and EVERYBODY where I lived either had a Continental, Mark 7, or the cheaper version LTD. I really don't think I saw anything other than those, aside from my grannys Chevy Nova and a few Chevelles and Monte Carlos. Good paying jobs were plentiful, driving in style was "in", and Ford was building the most solid vehicles it's ever built. One of my Aunts bought a 1976 banana yellow with brown interior, brand new and had it for 30+ years, until it rusted apart. That monster had over a million miles on it, and rarely needed any work done on it, other than consumable changes and solenoid changes.......which were cheap and easy. Unfortunately, Ford/Lincoln lost their American stamina in the early 2,000's and started building Chinese made pieces of crap. Major problem after problem after problem..........which can be traced back to the early 90's Escorts that kept catching fire all the time. Even right now, Ford can't stop wasting money building cheap Chinese vehicles that are STILL riddled with BAD engines, BAD drive trains, and all their other BAD/CHEAP Chinese parts. There is no such thing as an American car brand anymore. All auto makers have their parts made in China and Mexico, and snapped and glued together in America. Sad and pathetic.
