I used to have a problem of buying food, but eating out because of time or I was tired and then throwing away spoiled food. After watching you and getting it together. I haven’t wanted to eat out but occasionally. I don’t throw away food because it spoiled and are debt free and saving money. Thanks for your time you put in and those of us your tough love had helped.❤

When we got married in 1965 we rented an apartment furnished for $50.00 a month. My husband was close enough to his work that he could walk and I worked in an office until we had our first child. We eventually bought land out in the country and built our own home...income went up through the years...I was a mom who stayed home..thankful I did.😊

We buy our meats and poultry at Sav a lot here in Va/KY. They have a true butcher shop in store and there is a window in the meat department that is totally in view of the meat processing. The store has fantastic sales on meat and poultry on a regular rotating basis. We buy the 10 pound boxes of bacon for $10 a box. We buy 6 boxes at a time to take us to the next sale. Chicken was $.39 a pound...in 10 pound bags, we got 3. The pork ribs were beautiful and came as full racks of ribs boxed in 10 pound increments, for $15.. we got 2. I can go on and on. We filled 2 buggies with meat/poultry products. It took us 4 hours to break it all down and put it into manageable packages for 2 adults...weighed, vacuum sealed, and labeled for freezing. We broke down pork tenderloins into roasts and boneless porkchops, including large butterfly cuts for stuffing. The chickens have given us fantastic homemade broth in an ongoing basis....basically free from what most consider by products. We also got 10 pound tubes of ground beef for $1.50 a pound. We spent way under $200 and we have eaten from this for 3 months and our freezers are still too full to do a major restock again. This has allowed us to avoid the major price inflation this summer. We buy what is on sale. I menu plan based on what we have on hand....we grow 3 huge gardens so we spend very little on food....buying staples in bulk. My biggest task is keeping up with updating inventory and rotating it as it is used, because we have a working pantry and multiple storage areas around the house. We save so much money! We eat very well and healthy. It can be done.😊

If you kind of folks ever find yourselves in Pittsburgh I really think you would enjoy the Hartwood acres mansion tour. I did it recently with my mom and I couldn't believe how cool the time capsule of the house was. Most of what was in there was original to when it was built and most of the items were actually the owners who had it passed along to the parks system when it passed to them when the Mrs passed away. It was built in the 1920s. Maybe a fun thing to look up online. I think Tawra and Jill would really love seeing it. She really had a great sense of what she liked and wanted. The home was very modern conveniences but was based on lots of European elements from her travel.

Every day coleslaw and also every day shredded carrot salad were common 1950's and 1960's sides. When cabbage is sold as an each, i like to weigh it then calculate the price per pound. Often it makes the decision of whether or not to buy a head pretty easy to make when looking over the rest of the produce department.

My mom has a Kitchen Queen hutch like that, painted a pale green. Such a beautiful piece of furniture. She likes to bargain hunt, too! We have a Tom Thumb just north of us in a neighboring town. It's a convenience store with a gas station. Really good store with a deli. In town we have a Safeway, Fred Meyer, and Haggens. Lately Fred Meyer has been my top choice in town. But I haven't had much luck with sales these days! I remember I loved shopping for clothes at Target. The styles were good and so were the prices and someone said the factory they use is the same that manufactures clothes for Nordstrom. I believe it! I refuse to shop there now. First of all, there's this Pride crap going on, which I refuse to support, along with men being allowed in the ladies' rooms and besides, it's gotten expensive!

With regard to the Seche top and bottom coat nail polish. I have not had a problem with this product but!, maybe try cleaning each nail with alcohol to make sure there is no residual oil of any kind on the nail? Also let cure for idk, 12 hours or so before using hand lotion? Otherwise I got nothing. I hope this helps! I have had good results with this product myself.

$.69/ lb and $.99/ lb roma tomatoes become an savings price when you make salsa out of them. However, tomatoes and jalapeño or Anehiem peppers amd onions are seldom on sale at the same time. Buy these ingredients separately when they are on sale: dice and freeze onions into 3/8" to 1/2" dices; finely dice the hot peppers at 1/16" to 1/8" then freese; dice and freeze the tomatoes in 1/2" dices. Then make the salsa when you have all the stuff. Optionally try freezing rather than canning the made salsa. The texture and flavor will be a little different.

I went to Safeway and they had a lot of chicken wings with a 50% off sticker on it. But the original price was $5.99. OMG that is still expensive. There were a lot of them but I'm going to wait to see if there is a manager special if they can't sell it. Like you say all the time is to know your prices.

We currently have a $2/lb or less target on meat. It is getting harder to find so rather than pretty much emptying the freezer then going meat shopping - We are generally looking eachntime when we are in freezer stocking mode then buying quantity when we stumble across it.
