After watching Monsters The Lyle and Erik Menendez story I feel so much hate about the tv series & the way its depicted. They were so many things wrong with the story I don't know where to begin. I feel the creators were trying to get audiences to hate Lyle and Erik. Then there all those lies about them it also makes the tv series sound dirty and gross and untruth.

It was certainly entertaining but I won’t say it doesn’t matter if it was accurate or not. Only because they’re still alive in jail and are trying to get out. Shows like this can influence public opinion and public outrage can lead to criminals being released. It’s happened before with other cases. Just look at all the supporters they have in this comment section.

I think they took a number of liberties and introduced aspects that were either completely fictional or were never highlighted during the trial/case. For example, there were scenes that suggested the brothers had certain incestuous leanings…I’ve never heard that being insinuated from any documentary about the case so that was a reach

The acting was good, but there was some DUMB changes. For example they say Erik did not need glasses and its for show. That is untrue he did need them. This furthur tries to represent the brothers as horrible people. Robert Rands book on the case would have been a great source to make a better written show.

It can’t proven though. Roy claims he was also unconscious so he didn’t see who assaulted him. He was taken there by Edgardo to Jose’s house. They would need more than that…. That’s probably why the judge didn’t allow certain “evidence” in the second trial. It can’t be proven in court who did what? The brothers claim their mom molested them too but in interviews they said they killed her only because she knew about Jose abusing them. And in the confession tapes with the therapists they claim they only killed her because she was suicidal about the father’s affairs & him treating her badly. Too many inconsistencies. 😂

The series was so good and really drove home both sides of the argument. I get people want to believe them but there's too many things that prove their guilt and their lies. There's also good evidence they were victims. The show left you still confused and torn to what you believe. Ryan did a brilliant job and although some things may have been exaggerated, he nailed it on the head.

It was hard to watch because it's a horrible story no matter what the truth is. The fact that r cannot he denied is that they blew their parents to bits, lied about it, lived it up on their murdered parents money. Whether or not either or both of them felt bad afterwards is completely irrelevant. Anyone who is really upset about them being treated unfairly should never sit on a jury.

Serial killers always became celebrities, long before Hollywood was a thing - take Jack the Ripper. Horror, cruelty, evil are fascinating, plain and simple. Most people are mesmerized by the unthinkable acts commited not by monsters, demons or whatever, but so-called 'regular people' because that paradox is hard to deal with. So no, Hollywood is not to blame. It's just human psychology.

It was a really good show. I never heart about this case because i was little back then and in The Netherlands were i live, we didnt heart about this case back in the 90s. But i don't know for sure the abuse really happened or not. When Erik told his very graphic story in episode 5 i was convinced it really happened. I felt his emotions where real. And his body language , it was so good. It felt like i watched a little boy telling the story. The wounded inner child i saw. But then in the next view episode Lyle act like it was not true. He acted very arrogant about the whole case.He made it up. So from an outsider i was torn between believe Erik but dislike Lyle.

A good chunk was not accurate, especially Lyle, many friends and family have said he’s not rude and aggressive like he’s shown in the series and the series completely skipped over new evidence about abuse since trial number 2,including a new accuser that says José drugged and raped him when he was 16.Ryan Murphy ALWAYS goes over the top when he produces true crime stories,he did it with Dahmer too, when the real cases have enough drama that facts should be enough to get people to watch, not make up a bunch of crap just for entertainment.

@@radrobd123The argument "they could have left and gotten a job" isn't a valid one. If what they claim is true, the set is quite more complex. Some victims of their own parents - especially if these parents are very invasive and controling, too - don't develop any sense of independence and feeling of security in the world. More often they think that this setting is the only existing Universe. I can understand this pattern quite well as I have been there. Even as far as planning to kill my abusers (who were my adopters / legal parents) when I was 18/19 years old and totally desperate, angry, fed up, sickened, confused and dissociated in any way. I only had Gymnasium in my pocket so far and was scared to death of a future with nothing at my hands after a childhood and youth in hell. My adopters were great manipulators and the wealthy father figure fooled nearly anyone into believing he was a great philanthrope. I was verbally mistreated, beaten up and tortured by his spouse regurarly, and s'abused during childhood & teenage by him; and had been alone in this world from age 0 to age 4 (Orphanage). I managed to prevent myself from this deep urge to annihilate them by leaving at age 19, self-preservation. I barely ever regret anything I do but still nowadays I regret not having killed them but am also proud and glad I didn't act out. It was very, very tough to survive with no diploma, with psy health issues from ccPTSD, among other, and neurodevelopmental issues in earliest childhood that made my brain function differently to a norm. Sometimes I couldn't afford food and ate rice with few vegetables for months, sometimes I portioned a snickers to last 2 days and sometimes I couldn't get out of bed because I was malnourished, had headaches and was saving my energy to correspond the incoming energy. The problem with such comments: no perspective of reality at all. Even less back then, when consequences of these types of assaults weren't given any credit and pathological understanding.
