Here's a theory I don't think has been suggested so far .......is Mrs Flood a recreation of Liz Shaw from the earliest Jon Pertwee era. I know the actress that originally played her died a few years ago. She would know the TARDIS but never actually travelled in it. I think that would be a good storyline. I'm sure the character says she hadn't seen one for around 50 years which would make it pretty close to Liz Shaw's time knowing The Doctor. She could of married a Mr Flood?

Ruby's Mother is Miss Quill. Katherine Kelly's character from Class. The series ended with Quill being pregnant and about to face the Weeping Angels. Maybe she was sent back to 2004 and gave Ruby up to go off and deal with the Angels herself. The child's father was part of a shapeshifting species called the Lorr. Whilst we haven't seen a Lorr true form on screen the slug creatures set to appear in the series do resemble the Lorr god seen in the series. Maybe they're ruby's family trying to find her. And maybe the reason Millie Gibson's reduced roll in series 15 is going to be because Ruby will be helping the Coal Hill Defenders protect Shoreditch moving forward. I don't think it would lead to a full revival of Class but anything is possible.

My own personal idea for the music theory is that similar to the Toymaker ‘making a jigsaw’ of the Doctor’s history, as his signature potentially, the recent musical emphasis is Maestro putting her own influence on the Doctor’s recent adventures, for her own imminent arrival.

The TV show theory is interesting, but I was actually thinking that, at least the first season, would just be the Doctor telling a story to someone else. The Christmas special starts with a narration and then you had the "and that's just the beginning" in the trailer that Doctor said while being in the TARDIS.

i still think its susan who is timeless child and the doctor took her from Glaifrey to save her and put a cameleon circuit on her making her think she was his grand daugter and maybe on himself at same time. She was left behind by the doctor and susan triad character may be her and she is angry because she knows the truth. It would make the timeless child canon fit the existing canon without retconing anything. its the master that called her timeless child - the ribbons on the planet said the timeless child but didnt reference directly to 13th as being it

The only catch with the idea of Ruby being a "space baby", based on what we've seen so far in trailers, is that she was shown to have changed after stepping on the butterfly, giving a very clear message her biological form at least originated on Earth. ie if she was born off world, that change would not have occurred.

ok i have an insane theory but bear with me. RTD has explicitly said they are keeping the timeless child story as canon - so surely it will feature again at some point, as we never really got the answers. we know the doctor is the timeless child, found at the edge of a wormhole. we ALSO know the reason river song can regenerate is because she was born/concieved in the time vortex. so, we also now know that someone with regeneration abilities can have a sibling that can't regenerate (I know this is insane). SO what if the doctor and ruby are siblings, with ruby being conceived at another point in time, in another place that did not give her regeneration abilities (making her human! as we know from the scan in the first episode). this could also explain the susan foreman thing, as she could have taken in her (great aunt???) but then decided to either leave her with regular humans for her own safety OR leave her somewhere where she knows she will encounter the doctor.

I think the reason that the doctor didn’t stop the hooded figure is because he knows that he’s going to have another chance to do so. Maybe even with Ruby. As I think him knowing he’s Ruby’s parent and not stopping them feels rushed

A very interesting take I read about it is an ethical one: the doctor does not pursue the hooded figure - which we take to be the mother - because he realizes it's not his place to intrude. He's wise enough to realize that a mother abandoning her child is a traumatic and painful decision, and a bystander intruding on that pain would only make things so much worse.

Leading on from Ruby being a space baby, what if the Doctor was as well. As in these space babies are a race of beings that cross dimensions. One of my theories surrounding ruby's birth mother is that ruby and the doctor will meet her at some point in a different timeline shortly after she has given birth to ruby. My probably completely wrong theory is that ruby and the doctor will realise she's ruby's birth mother and that they will be given baby ruby to protect her. Knowing they've got to keep ruby's timeline on track, they'll have to take baby ruby to the church where ruby was found as a baby in order to complete what they already know must happen. This would explain why there's no trace of ruby's birth mother in The Church on Ruby Road, especially if she's from a future timeline. I think everyone is throwing some pretty wild theories out there at the moment, but I tried thinking along the more timey wimey route! 😂🙈 Also doctor who is really good at planting those seeds of a character being put in a situation where they know something must happen because they've already seen it happen. Some while ago, John flipped on twitter about something. I think a lot of us thought he'd been told Torchwood was coming back without him; though what if the info he'd received (from Russell, presumably) was that Jack was to be recast? Regardless of anything, I really do believe John should be able to return. He apologised for his behaviour, and isn't in any legal trouble over his actions. Up until the moment it wasn't seen as 'acceptable' to like him, the community loved him and were always screaming for his return.

@@Pat12379 according to Chris Eccleston and the actors for the Tyler's and Mickey, he would take his dick out a lot and slap people in the face with it sometimes. There's a hilarious interview with Mickeys actor describing Eccleston getting super upset at his penis because he's trying to work on his acting.

What if Ruby Sunday is the daughter of Rose and the Meta-crisis doctor? There is no trace of Ruby’s mom because she is in a parallel universe with her husband the meta crisis doctor. What if in their TARDIS, they traveled back to 2004 and dropped of Ruby at the Church - for whatever reason? It would be a shock reveal if it was revealed that Rose Tyler was the mother of Ruby Sunday? Also think about the names - Ruby and Rose 🌹 - red? I’m still intrigued to learn who Mrs Flood, Ruby’s mother, Susan Twist and the One Who Waits?

That shouldn’t work. If Rose’s DNA isn’t in any database, Jackie’s is likely to be. They didn’t find any trace at all, if I remember rightly.

My problem with this idea that everybody seems to be kicking around is I can't really imagine Rose Tyler abandoning a baby for any reason. Especially with Pete and Jackie around. Jackie wouldn't let that happen

Ruby was the name chosen for her because of the road that the Church was on. So it wouldnt be a name Rose picked for her. Unless you're meaning from a writer's point of view, as a kind of hint hint?

Wow, I don't have a dog anymore. How insensitive. I'm kidding, mostly. I miss my dog. I don't think Jack is coming back, but more importantly I hope not. If Barrowman can't play the part anymore for whatever reason, just retire the character. I don't hate the TV show idea. But it's going to be difficult to pull off. Here's hoping they're up to it. Here's also hoping the throat is better. I could suggest that tea is a better choice than coffee, since coffee might actually irritate a sore throat, but I know a losing battle when I see it. It'll be fine before you know it.

Not sure I agree companions crossing each other is especially rare in New WHO, I kind of think it was much rarer in Classic Who as once a co Landon left they were usually gone for good. In fact the only companion I can recall coming back after truly leaving is Harry Sullivan (who returned in Android Invasion). The Brig I guess might count tho I don’t consider him a companion in the traditional sense, but he met Tegan Nyssa in Mawdryn undead (already knew Turlough but didn’t say hi in The Five Doctors where he also re-met Sarah and Tegan and Susan and of course met Ace in Battlefield). Sarah Jane also met Tegan, Turlough and Susan in The Five Doctors. Mel greeted Ace and then left with Glitz (never made any sense, they better explain how she got home in Ncuti’s series!). But to the new series, as Amy and Rory didn’t actually meet Oswin not sure this counts (she was encased in a Dalek after all). Other (better?) examples include Rose and Mickey meeting Jack (and no, I’m not including Adam, ); Martha meeting Jack; Donna meeting Martha, Rose and Jack; Martha marrying Mickey, Nardole meeting Bill. Does River count as a companion (and yes, I love her as dearly as you, but not sure I consider her a companion per se)? Yas meeting Dan, and Graham meeting Dan and Ace, and Tegan after Yas had as well in POTD. And when I say “meeting” it implies some traveling together in many of the cases tho not all obviously. And of course the most amazing of all IMO would be Rose and Mickey meeting Sarah Jane and K9 -companions from the New meeting companions from the Classic Series (tho had to go back and add Ace and Tegan in Power of the Doctor…oh and of course Mel meeting Donna in The Giggle!)! And tho a different series, Sarah was gifted K9 by the Doctor in “K9 & Co” or “The Very Early Pilot of The Sarah Jane Adventures” as I like to think of it). And who can forget Sarah Jane and Jo Grant/Jones meeting in “Death of the Doctor”? Only way that would have been better would have been if 11 and Jo got to meet K9 but he was sadly gone by then…I also wish K9 would have gone in the TARDIS w/ the SArah Jane Gang in “The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith” especially as photos showed him in it with SJ and 10! Anyway, I personally love checking in on old friends, kind of wish the show would do it more! :-) Did I miss any? :-)
