I'd have rok-loks on every guitar strap apart from one thing - my two favorite acoustics use jack pins. Might it be possible for a variant to be designed that works with those? the central screw would have to be changed for a threaded ring... one with a wide enough central hole that a jack plug body would fit through.
@8MinuteAxe Жыл бұрын
Hey Dave. We've been working on it for about 5 months. We are almost there. There are only three options. A rok-lok built onto a strap, using an adapter or making an offset appendage. I don't like the third way. We are focusing on the first two. I'm so glad you like them. I use the music nomad adapter and it works perfectly with my Taylor and a pair of Rok-Loks. :)

Great to hear from you brother. I left you a comment a couple of weeks ago with more than the usual niceties. Sales are incredible but I'm working 15 hour days everyday. I never planned on being a youtuber and I certainly never planned on being an inventor!! It was born out of necessity. Anyway, I'm getting off track. I just wanted to say that the feedback was meant with the best intentions in mind. as an attorney representing mr. henley, i must insist that you cease and desist...hahah no, no, only kidding, of course! great selection, mark! hey, bulldog, and aqualung are classics, no doubt about it. and yes, I'm loving the Rok-Lok! my delicate canadian fingers have great difficulty trying to get a guitar strap posted on those guitar lugs, but, it's so easy with the Rok-Lok! such a brilliant, simple idea, or, rather, it's brilliant in its simplicity! As i have not yet won a vangoa [haha!] i went out and got myself a 2000 seagull 12 stringer acoustic - made right here in canada! it has such a great sound to it - i don't know how i'm going back to that 6 string yamaha now 😊 love from canada!
@8MinuteAxe Жыл бұрын
Her Deron. I own two Seagull...cases. :(. never owned a Seagull but they have a reputation for great quality at a fair price. This is how the Rok-Lok was born. One day I was frustrated with the dumb strap locks (I think that day it was a D'Addario). I went to amazon to find what I wanted. Then I googled it. Then I spent a week researching it. Then I hit the patent office (less because I was interested in creating one and more just to see if one was out there I could buy). Then I did nothing but couldn't believe that a universal strap lock didn't already exist. My friend and I had been toying with different business ideas for 2 years. He started a driveway paving biz that didn't really take off so he stopped. I drew up my conception of the Rok-Lok on paper and showed him, we discussed how starting a business in the music instrument field would be good since I play and he loves music...and then Xmas and new year and nothing came of it. and then on Jan 11, 2021 on a spur of the moment whim I did what 99% of people don't do (this is the key moment). I called a friend of a friend of a friend who is a mechanical engineer. -Mark

Smoke on the Water was the first riff I figured out myself, accidentally But that showed me I could figure out riffs I still play it now, as it’s a lot of fun. One of the first riffs I learned is one I still play Not Fragile by BTO. Learning and figuring out riffs can be a lot of fun, and also help you learn to play better and also help you to write your own. To that end I like learning a riff, but then giving it my own twist. From there it’s on to writing my own riffs. But that helps develop a style as you find out what you’re good at now, but also what you are capable of doing as you learn. It’s also why in a band setting I prefer the rhythm parts, whether guitar or bass. Although I do enjoy playing lead here and there But above all, it’s having fun, and developing a style. In a group setting this helps you lock in with others, and play as a group, not a collection of individuals

Yesterday night I got home for break and have always wanted an electric. Well my sister told me she bought a Gibson case but it wouldn’t fit my acoustics and was going to sell it after I told her that it’s probably meant for a Les Paul and how spendy they are. On my bed when I got home sat a Gibson guitar case with a note. I opened it, and inside it had a satin black color Les Paul Gibson. @8MinuteAxe Жыл бұрын
I used the neck pickup of an 88 Les Paul Custom. :) I try to play everything live but with the launch of the Rok-Lok I didn't have time to record a performance bumper so I used a little bit of studio magic. I almost exclusively use the neck pickup. I have two eqs on my board so I can get a broad range without switching over. With the Spark, it's already so bassy so I mostly play with the bridge. Thanks again.

Hey Larry! On a few videos I've watched he's played it open (or "lip synced" it open) but after listening to the track carefully for maybe the first time in my life, he undoubtedly recorded it in the 5th position. nice call. When I was a kid, the song was kind of a mystery. All the chords in the middle (all easy chords but I didn't know what a capo was and I certainly didn't have one) and the solo. Gradually I learned it. I don't know how I remember this but in 2001, at the Cool Breeze pool hall in Milford, CT we were playing the fifth of a five gig contract. The guy was paying us well (too well). I want to say we were getting $1000 even for each of the five shows. This was based on our draw at the first. The second was thinner. The third and fourth we drew nobody. I offered to cancel the deal but he said he wanted to finish it. So in the summer of 2001, to a crowd of maybe 15 people, in the third set I turned to the guys and said, let's play all the songs we never get to play. We did Aqualung, There's Never Been Any Reason, Dominance and Submission (a BOC tune), and Sometime World (Wishbone Ash). None of these were rehearsed. I wrote all the songs and sang but I was the weakest link in the band, the rest of the guys were all first rate pros. I'm sure they all sounded decent considering.
