As the box is designed as a bass reflex cabinet, you can just stuff a sock in the middle hole...behind the mesh. (which is just held on via velcro) to reduce the bass resonance without altering the eq electronically.

"Walk Right In," "Mr. Tambourine Man," "As Tears Go By," and anything by Leadbelly, Eric Darling, Rik Von Schmidt, and Stan Rogers . . . When we used to watch Hootenanny, I used to count the 12-strings that the students in the bleachers were strumming. And when a guest handed Glen Campbell his 12-string, Glen got this goofy smile on his face and said, "I've always wanted to do this!"as he launched into "Walk Right In."

According to the blurb on the sleeve The Guitar Ramblers were a 'garage' band. Can tell from the sound that these guys were session musos. Two great 12-string tracks - 1) Wildwood Flower; 2) Mother, Please Let Me Do It Myself. The first is a Country/Folk favourite; the second probably close to the best and tightest 12-string playing you'll ever hear.

I'd agree about Walk Right In, although that was two twelve strings. And we shouldn't forget Roy Orbison's Pretty Waman which absolutely everybody knows!

My current favorite 12-string song is the Moody Blues New Horizons. The tuning is DADFAC so you have to learn all new chords but it's worth it. Currently using an Ovation Standard Balladeer 12-string that stays in tune really well and sounds great.

Sounds really good You're making that guitar sound great! Do you know what gauge strings it came with?

Dude, shouldn't your signature song be a song that you wrote? What could be more personal? Isn't that meant to inspire us to write better songs? Also, there's a lot of truth in it, seeing how many one hit wonders DO end up playing one song for the rest of their lives. Let's just hope they like their own song!!

Walk Right In by the Rooftop Singers is the song that made 12 string acoustic famous ... again. Eric Darling wanted to use a 12 string for the song. He went about to find one. He checked music stores and pawn shop but could not find one. So he ended up ordering a 12 string acoustic from Gibson. You Can't Do That is the first song George Harrison used the 12 string Rickenbacker on.

Hi Mark! This is your most helpful video for me yet! I love playing the 12 string in my live gigs! I have been playing for over 46 years since I was 14. I bought my first 12-string about 3 years ago - a Takamine. I just bought a second this year - a Gibson J-45. I have had both professionally set up. The Takamine seems to stay in tune much better. I’m going to try your tips. One additional tip I would add for your audience is don’t try to use alternate tunings in a live gig. 😉 Have a dedicated 12 String set up for it instead. 😊. Keep the vids coming and remember to Rock On!!!

I’m not sure but I don’t believe that the riff for Pleasant Valley Sunday was played on 12string? I think Nesmith played it on his Black Beauty Les Paul. IMHO, the best Monkee tracks to showcase 12string would be either You Told Me or Sunny Girlfriend! 🤷♂️
@8MinuteAxe12 күн бұрын
Hey Paul. You're correct (at least according to what's easily accessible on Google). One story is that he triple tracked it. Another is that he played through three Vox SB amps. The longer I do this (and I really try to research anything I'm not sure about beyond a basic Google search) the more I realize that memories get foggy and there are so many different stories, especially when it comes to who played what when. Even though my original collection of songs that were originally recorded with a 12 expanded from about 68 to about 450, I still take the liberty of selecting songs that were performed live primarily with a 12 string as is the case with PVS (also based on Google). I've done the riff to Sunny Girlfriend on the channel. You Told Me is going pretty deep but for sure a great part. Thanks so much for checking out the video. I appreciate your time and comment. Check out Carole King's original demo of the song. I love it. It shows off the cynicism that she intended when writing it much better. Take care and be well. Mark

Hey Rick. I've covered the song on the channel. It's one of many great 12 string riffs from 65, "the year of the 12 string". I'm guessing you're either a Pittsburgh native or your knowledge of 60s rock runs deep. I had somebody telling me I'm an idiot for not including French Canadian 70s prog rock band Harmonium in the countdown. The funny things is that I actually DID cover them! But they don't make my top 50 either. It's kind of like my top 5 campfire songs. If you look through the comments you'll see just how "crazy", "stupid", or "insane" I am for not putting all 70 of the songs that are obviously top 5 on "anybody's countdown" in my top 5. LOL. You're approach was much classier and for that and for your time, I thank you. Please take care and be well. And have a great day! Mark

I use allways a 12 strings guitar for accoustic songs. I tune the regular guitar strings normal in E and the second strings a very little bit higher so that i have a chorus sound. My electric guitar is a six string guitar. I play Christian worship music.

Thanks for the tips. That's a great idea turning the amp over and using the headphone out jack. I just wish they would make all these little amps a bit bigger so they could have the control knobs on the front panel, or at least the front of the top panel, not at the back! Seems such an overlooked issue by designers! Less frustration leaning over to change things ( when you aren't using the app). What do you plug the other end of the headphone lead into? I presume it's a mono 6.3mm plug at the other end? Read somewhere else you lose half the sound as it's stereo sound? Thanks

Thing is one of these is valuable and always will be and later on if cared for later on it might even be worth more than you paid for it. The other is and always will be worthless, regardless of what you stick on it it’s never going to repeating any value at all.

Probably one of the only non biased reviews I've seen of the spark. I like mine, but it has some glaring issues. I play a lot of heavy metal and on an 8 string the flub is nearly impossible to not ruin the tone. I have to work with my 12 band EQ thats external 😂. The app can also be decent but annoying at times too. Its a good amp that needs work imo. And yes I do turn my bass all the way down and my treble waaaay up. That makes it tolerable
