@@JudahIAmKngIt is actually more powerful than a ps3. So ps2 games should be no problem. Perhaps you are confused with ps4 games like arkham knight, but ps3 games run better on the switch than on a ps3.

Aside from the abysmal optimizations for Pokémon Scarlet/Violet, one of the biggest things I dislike about the title is the fact it was hyped to be this "Open world game" where you can basically go wherever you want and do whatever you want whenever you want to. But the fact of the matter is, the game is designed to be played in a specific order. Yea, you can explore the map and go anywhere you want to as soon as it opens up to you. But Pokémon/Trainers DO NOT scale to your level. You can go to the norther most part of the map at the start of the game, yea. But suddenly all the Pokemon and trainers you are facing are like lvl50 so there is very little you can actually do to progress the story and are ultimately railroaded into following a certain path in order to be able to progress without issue all under the illusion of being able to go do whatever you want.

The switch isn’t a bad console, it’s just important to know its limitations. It’s really good for indie games and the Nintendo games made for it. For games harder on consoles, like multiplayer, storage-heavy, or graphics heavy, I use my Xbox. Have never had problems with my switch, but then I always check ahead of time to see if my switch can handle the game I’m thinking about 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sadly I mostly use my Switch for first party or Switch exclusive titles, if the game has a port for another platform then I get it for that other one.

Well I mean it was made with "meh" mobile hardware from 2013 (in 2015 when it launched) Some of its ports are down right miraculous, such as the Witcher 3, Skyrim, heck even the port of Hogwarts Legacy was damn impressive. Honestly all Nintendo has to do is release another switch with updated system specs (that new snapdragon is damn impressive running games like control natively at a solid 30 FPS or even the new Nvidia mobile APU would be fantastic too) obviously make it backwards compatible with existing switch games and Nintendo will easily win the next console generation war.

They needed more cooking time from the start of the franchise not just now. many early pokémon games were/are full of bugs(not the typing). Gen 1 psychic had no real weaknesses because of one and you could land in hell when going out of the Safari zone. And in other gens it became a speed run category in how fast you can stop the game from working with glitches and bugs. In DP you could, when riding a bike, fall from the map into the void(and don't let me started on the dex in that gen).

@@xerrakion2752 I agree that gen 1 is excusable but the rest? They needed to patch gen3 because after a year the in game time stops. When you save in a Gen 6 city it got automatically corrupted. And I saw leaks that some platinum pokémon where designed already before DP came out but they didn't had enough time to implement them. Plus even though legends arceus has free exploration it's not to 100% open world because it uses single maps that only load one at the time. So you can make the excuse for it being their first try on a full on open world game.

I know not everyone can afford multiple systems, but it's best to save multiplayer or high requirement games for your stronger system. If you are aware of your systems limits then you rarely run into these issues.

I'll take playable jank that comes complete on the cart in some form (regardless of the experience) over these cloud versions / games that only have the tutorial on the cart and the rest needs to be downloaded. The former will likely stand the test of time and can still be played with or without modding to completion. The latter, not so much.

I didn't realize that the Kingdom Hearts games on Switch were a "cloud version". I didn't buy it, namely because there usually is a PlayStation variant for bundles of the series, but I thought about it because I would like to just be able to play those games in a more relaxed setting than always on the couch in front of the TV. But if it's going to only be a streamed version of the game where you have to be online, then no thanks. We saw how that went with Stadia and KH can get pretty intensive when you're hitting various combos against hordes of creatures. That game would absolutely slow down both due to the limitations of the Switch and due to sub-optimal internet connections. But I also know that downloading the game on a Switch would eat up probably multiple save cards but I'd rather that than stream it online.

Rune Factory 5. As a big RF fan, I was super excited to get a new game after a good few years, with something of an open world, 3D characters in more human shape (as opposed to a more small, chibi-esque shape) and so many QoL upgrades. However, the graphics were pretty bad, the world and even main town were empty, long loading times, textures popping in, lag and so much more made playing it a bit of a chore, sometimes. In my case, I also struggled with Switch hardware issues (joycon drift), so it felt really disappointing. I enjoyed the artstyle and many of the characters, but the game itself was underwhelming. It also seems as if it's no longer being supported with regards to patches or updates, so many in our community feel as if it was just a quick cash-grab, especially considering RF6 is currently in development, while RF5 still runs like rubbish.

How recently were these games retested on switch? I picked up Violet a few months ago and haven’t seen any of the issues that people mentioned being present at launch. It just seems to be an improvement over Sword in all areas now.

yeah a lot of the glitches have been patched up. Performance still isn't the best but it doesn't take too much away from the experience itself.

I still believe Kingdom Hearts 3 could have been scaled back some to run natively on Switch while still looking decent graphically. You mean to tell me the Switch can run open world games like Witcher 3, Immortals Fenyx Rising, Dragon Ball Kakarot and Dragon Quest 11 but couldn't handle KH3? KH3 gameplay is literally running around in mostly empty spaces with heartless popping up for you to battle, I think the Switch could have handled that. SQUARE ENIX probably didn't feel like taking the time to properly optimize the game for Switch so they just lazily slapped it onto the cloud and called it a day.

With the Steam Deck and other alternatives getting more popular, the portability of the Switch is less enticing for 3rd party games. Despite being underpowered, the Switch is an impressive system, but 3rd party publishers see the user base and typically more than just graphical fidelity is sacrificed.

With regard to ARK Survival Evolved, it plays like crap and looks like crap on most PC systems too, it's very poorly optimised. It's also one of those games you would often need to uninstall and reinstall just to update it, and also get rid of about 80GB of crap that it leaves behind.

@@robw5741 A product released 7 years ago really isn't worth the same today. In fact, inflation means it's actually more expensive. Value: The Switch will be obsolete within a year at this point. No one should buy it currently, except at a significant discount. If consumers learned to say "No", they'd be treated a whole lot better. The price of a Wii this late in it's life cycle was 40% of original. Take a look at current pricing for an XBsS (now cheaper than a Switch). If PS5/XBsX are still $500 in 2027, I'll call them ripoffs too.

64GB hasn't even been used yet and very few used 32GB carts. A lot, especially ubisoft, like to cheap out and use a 4GB cart and make you download the other 20GB instead.

It definitely won’t match, we will probably get something similar to a ps4. Probably be a 1440p console, 2D games maybe will get 60fps and 3D will still be locked to 30fps.

Initial "leaks" and speculation anticipated the "Switch2" at about the level of a PS4pro. We'll have to wait and see, but there's really zero impetus to rival current gen competition. Their still selling the Switch at 100% of original price, and even higher for the OLED version.

The GTA trilogy wasn't just poor on the switch but in general. It plays horrible on other systems for some reason which should not be the case because of the technology we have. I believe it was a quick cash grab from Rockstar, until GTA 6 comes out. I've never talked bad about Rockstar except for this trilogy which plays better on the older systems with the games being separate discs.

I played Hogwarts Academy on my tablet. I finished the first of 7 chapters which took about 5 gigs of storage. It wouldn't even let me load the second chapter.

Pokemon Scarlet/Violet doesn't belong here & the hate is overblown. A significant number of us never experienced any issues whatsoever. FFS the 1-2 Switch games would have been a better fit simply due to being lame tech demo trash that barely even qualifies as video games.... totally agree on the KH cloud version though...the older titles would run fine on Switch, and if SE had the brains to actually give us native ports ( especially with actual PHYSICAL releases ) I'd have bought them even though I have them on Xbox both for the simple joy of having KH on Switch and the whole portability thing...
