Miss Tiffany is actually not a 'trans inclusive' pageant. It's a trans exclusive pageant. Cis women aren't actually allowed as contestants. It's in the rules.

Under #5, Ways to recognize ladyboys, it's worth adding that taking puberty blockers during puberty and then HRT after will blunt most of the impacts that you mention as the body is never masculinized via testosterone exposure. In the past this was rare in Thailand but it is now occurring and this is standard trans pharmacology in the west now with medications such as Lupron and Triptorelin.

My nitpicky commentary aside, this video is actually very accurate and well produced. I was worried that there would be no disclaimer that life for Ladyboys in Thailand is NOT all rainbows and roses but the segment at 7:54 helped address that. I would have liked to have seen more real impacts of the lack of legal LGBT rights and more about the many LGBT organizations and people working to help LGBT people and rectify those wrongs. It certainly is a greatest hits montage from Exploring Bangkok, Serena Thailand, The Real Ladyboy Show and other ladyboy youTube channels and top ranked videos. Well done.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and considered feedback, I really enjoyed researching and deep diving into the fascinating world world of Thai Ladyboys to create this video. But as you rightly pointed out I missed the mark in some areas, so I might make another video in a couple of months just to cover them off - perhaps after I visit Thailand and meet a Ladyboy first hand:)

@@Tozome I recommend marrying a Thai ladyboy, taking her back to the west, going through the entire immigration process and then living with her happily for 20 years. That’s my (very condensed) story. It’ll teach ya a lot of things you won’t learn on the internet, I can tell you!

@@Tozome Few things can bring people together like collective hardship. It’s been good for our relationship, ultimately. Enjoy your trip to Thailand and exploring the LGBT cultures therein! make some videos about the vast lesbian (Tom and Dee) culture / butch / femme identity of Thailand. That never gets enough love.

Regarding #1. There are more words than Kathoey to refer to trans women in Thailand (although the word loanword trans isn't that rare anymore these days). Sao praphet song, phu ying praphet song (women of the second type) are heard quite commonly. Certainly more commonly heard than any of these X-kathoey constructions, in my experience.

You're talking about Venous thromboembolism (VTE) from estradiol in the latter part of that sentence? Let's also keep in mind that that trans women's risks from prostate cancer almost disappear due to HRT. Pharmacological impacts don't only accumulate on the negative side of the balance. Obviously one of the biggest drug risks to the health of many Thai trans women are those that are doing sex work and taking Ya Ba to cope with the stresses and uptime requirements of that industry, aside from smoking and alcohol which are endemic and harmful.

Although same sex marriages are not legal in Thailand yet, there is a vigorous movement to legalize it. In the meantime same sex couples can register their union as a legal domestic partnership.

@@lucascoval828 The Thai government has since legalized same sex marriage. After the law is signed by the king it should go into effect before the end of the year.

No offense to ladyboys (LBs) you do you...but I have to say that some Thai women are very pretty. Some LBs pass well, but most you can tell they're LBs. Also I think all people should be accepted for who they are, how they want to dress, so long as they're not hurting anyone. Religions or ideologies that spread hate against people need to be banned.
