I love these tips!! I really do!! The only difference of opinion that I’ve found is that when I spray my veggies with water and then put them in the fridge, they tend to go bad quicker. Dr. Berg...I've read some articles indicating raw cruciferous vegetables can cause thyroid issues. Can you let us know your stance on that please? Thank you for all of your amazing work.
@JustHereToHear6 жыл бұрын
He does say in one of his videos that it MAY be bad for thyroid. Per my memory, he mentions that thyroid issues are mostly caused by high levels of estrogen which disrupts the thyroid function and in such a case, cruciferous vegetables like cabbage and cauliflower can help lower the bad estrogen and balance things out, thus helping the thyroid. On the other hand, there are studies that say cabbage and cauliflower have a role in blocking thyroid function, causing thyroid issues. Dr Berg does acknowledge this bit of research, but he mentions it in only one video. So if you were worried about the thyroid, I would recommend steering clear of cabbage and cauliflower, and look to other estrogen balancing food.
@JustHereToHear6 жыл бұрын
Personally, I don't get kale in my country and spinach is good but got to balance out the oxalates. Lettuce is expensive, and avocados not easily available. I tried eating loads of cabbage, being a star league veggie and all that, but after about 3 days the area around my throat felt kinda tight and I backed off it. Glad I did.
@amyhoang91405 жыл бұрын
Based on my research, cabbage depletes iodine. Iodine helps the thyroid to balance your hormone. So if you eat cruciferous veggies, you may want to supplement iodine. You can get iodine in liquid form on Amazon or health food stores and rub some on your belly button, or neck.

Dr Berg, what is your take on microwaving veggies? I am a busy mom and I briefly steam my broccoli in the microwave to eat it. Do you think this destroys the nutrients? Thank you!
@Frissdas12076 жыл бұрын
Tom is incorrect, the disillusion that microwaving foods is unhealthy for you is hysterical. Just so that you're aware Kristin, talking on your cell phone or even having it near you emits more radiation into your body in a year than you'll probably ever get because of a microwave in your lifetime. Frozen vegetables are often more fresh than fresh vegetables as funny as that sounds. Frozen veggies are plucked at their prime then flash frozen immediately. "fresh veggies" are farmed prematurely.. before they actually reach their peak of nutrition so that they look more fresh and appealing on shelves. You're totally fine and safe to microwave veggies.

Corning Vision glass pots for cooking ON the stovetop. Gas is the healthiest source for cooking, comes shortly after wood stove. Electric stove is not so good. Radiation is harmful. Sharp japanese knives are best for vegetables - keep them alive. The Masahiro is probably the one that keeps sharpest, the longest - Masahiro carbon steel, is also not expensive. Shopping board, always in wood, saves the knife blade and is antibacterial. Towels in hemp, last longer and take in moist the best and are anti-bacterial. Grain grinder with real stone that don't powder flour all over and lasts two lifetimes: Samap from France, Samap 100 or Samap 50. There are bigger ones for bakeries too.

Kristin Bertram Cauliflow has 3g net carbs whilst Jicama has 5g and daikon radish has 6 gram net carbs (100g measurements) So its reallt not that far off at all. And Although cauliflow can make good mash the consistency is not as good as mash with these other veggies. Cauliflower will also not make good fries or a roasted potatoe alternative. Hence the question. The cauliflower mash does have good consistency though ans does taste nice.
