I think I took less gear on a 10 day trip in Woodland Caribou this past June ;) Just kidding. FYI WCPP got annihilated by fire. Your Haven and Adventure campsites are gone. Wrist got hit but the pork chop island was spared. Great video, I really enjoyed it. PS Platypus filters are awesome.
@OneWildcrafter3 жыл бұрын
So glad you got out to WCPP! Sad that those campsites are gone. It seems like the landscape there probably changes every few years as new fires move through. How did you find the fishing? p.s. my old filter is in the garbage and I bought a platypus filter.
@Hames_tripper3 жыл бұрын
@@OneWildcrafter It was our third year in a row to WCPP. Check out the Ontario Fire Map, close to 3/4 of the park burned this year!! Fishing was amazing. 200+ pickerel (best was 25 in 60 minutes), a dozen or so pike and 10 lake trout. Also finally saw a caribou and she had a calf! If you are interested in some great WCPP videos check out “The Dutch Explorer”, We have bumped into him the past two trips. This year he was on a 34 day solo trip. There were only 3 of us in the entire park and we met each other on a portage. Crazy. FYI - RLO is no more but there are still outfitter options. I enjoy your videos, thanks.

We often pick black nightshade berries to make jam. They taste a bit like liquorice. Black nightshade is not the same as Belladonna. Also nightshade belladonna grow in single shiny berries whereas the black nightshade grows in clusters and the berries are dull black. Would love to taste a choke cherry

Most berry seeds/pits are evolved to pass through the GI tract of those that consume them. They are to a degree indigestible unless crushed.

Did you ever figure out that water filter??? I was wondering if it was possible you got the filter in backwards, I have never owned the bag but my Katadyn water filter that you pump into a container worked great. I was thinking about getting the bigger drain bag. What is your recommendation, did you look into why it was not working or did you just toss it?
@OneWildcrafter3 жыл бұрын
I didn't figure it out and I talked to a sports store employee who said he processed a lot of returns on that filter. I bought a new one of a different brand but I didn't try it out yet.

wow very interesting video man... i'm just starting out here as a hiker and trying to find good gear.. what would you recommend for good boots/shoes ?...and also what kind of socks is best ?
@OneWildcrafter3 жыл бұрын
I'm a huge fan of merino wool socks, and sometimes of pairing them with a synthetic liner sock. As to boots, I would suggest going with something in the $300 range. I was quite fond of my Asolo full leather hiking boots but it has been a while since I've bought a good boot for outdoors wear.
@hikerbobbie37303 жыл бұрын
@@OneWildcrafter This helps alot man thanks !!.. i'll look into those boots for sure , i'll check them out on-line, as long as they have good grip and keep me warm. . and i asked about the socks because i wasn't too sure, i was told to buy very thin nylon Dress socks so i bought 5 pairs of navy blue ones.

when you can have enough fat from fish, you can dice up cambium as your carb source, boil it twice toss the water, then fry the cambium in fish oil and your body can digest it. It can'be your ONLY food, but it IS a carb source. You just can't eat it by itself, much less without the boiling AND frying. or you can't digest it.
@OneWildcrafter3 жыл бұрын
I would have thought that you'd have lost all the starches after boiling twice. Cambium is something that doesn't appeal to me but I definitely want to take the time to learn more about it.

Not trying to be a nosy rosy but you won’t get near any muscle with an insulin syringe. It’s tiny for a reason, you don’t go muscular with insulin. It’s subcutaneous only. That’s still fine but it would work better if you got a separate syringe and 25x1 or 25x1.5 needle to get to a large muscle.
@OneWildcrafter3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Brian! Is it party a matter of the angle of insertion for whether it is just subcutaneous or reaches muscle?
@tamadrummer0013 жыл бұрын
@@OneWildcrafter no it’s not long enough. It’s not supposed to get to the muscle. That needle is designed for a very specific purpose. I only say this because as an RN I give shots almost daily. I do bone marrow transplant and we have to vaccinate our patients with their childhood vaccines all over. Some are IM and some are SQ. The insulin needles aren’t in any way an IM needle.
