There seems to be confusion on what is streetwear and what isn't streetwear. A lot of brands being mentioned that don't necessarily fit into the category of streetwear are being mentioned, while certainly influential, aren't streetwear at all. Brands like CDG Undercover Beams Evisu Kapital, etc. These brands aren't really "streetwear" as they focus far more on the designer process than simple pieces like tees and hoodies. Yes they have street elements but to call them bonafide streetwear labels takes away from what they really are: designer labels.
@kevinroland5557

The only tue streetwear brand that comes to mind that is truly from the element is LRG i mean their pieces are collectible now and when a brand becomes collectible whlie remaining street is rare

Very informative, as much as I love the art of fashion and design I'm very uncultured regarding brands and their founder's simply because I don't know where to even start looking to get educated. Glad the cas has at least Japanese brands covered though, I now accept Hiroshi Fujiwara as one of my gods.

Don't want to be the "actually" guy, but Tet mentioned in an interview with HiSnobriety that WTAPS comes from the military term for firing 2 rounds in quick succession at the same target.

has nothing to do with the pronounciation tho (edit) to clarify, yes double tap is the term, but the “pun” comes in when Tet replaced “double” with “W” because, as Reggie mentions, “W” is pronounced like “double”

not sure if it's as popular as the other brands but I personally love human made with it's tees and its cut and sew items. I just love how it's almost like merch, with nigo giving his supporters what he personally loves to make his supporters personally love them too. like the collabs with studio seven, him showing off honest boyz and curry up!, the strm cwby sake, etc. speaking of studio seven that's also one of my favorite streetwear brands aside from human made, can empt, and NN.

But some brands that u can easily get into are bape, kith, Stussy, Supreme, CDG Play, Off White and others

Wtaps is called “double taps” because of the military term call double taps that meant hitting the same spot with a second bullet.
@THECASUALco
@THECASUALco 4 жыл бұрын
That's the double meaning. It's meant to be a pun because "W" sounds like "double" in Japanese. It's pretty evident it means "double tap" as it's military inspired but why "W"? Because of the sound of it in the language.

Visvim was not always a big brand, and was just streetwear, small production. Are the brands discussed not cut and sown? Why is Visvim not considered part of the discussion exactly? You watched it and understood, so what’s your take on the reasoning?
