I like how you mentioned how Japanese denim is coming back. Japanese jeans are literally the best pants you can buy. A+++++ quality, they will never go out of style and they literally go with EVERYTHING. I like Japan blue a lot but I LOVE MOMOTARO. (same company)

I like the brand Saint Michael (Saint m6, Saint M××××××) which is also owned by Yuta Hosokawa with Cali Dewitt. The brand was started in 2020. It is more vintage aesthetic and they have many interesting design's which are mostly hand drawn design. And in the span of 2 years it is already popular among celebrities especially rappers and athletes. They already worked with Dickies, Takahashi Mirakami, Denim Tears and they have an upcoming Travis Scott/Cactus Jack collaboration.

GQ Aus also wrote about menswear boutiques recently!

Just to let you guys know, clothes are not an “investment” That’s like saying buying a soda is an investment because the cash back for recycling.
@THECASUALco
@THECASUALco Жыл бұрын
Actually an investment can be something that saves you money in the future as well. A pair of well made durable jeans that cost 300 but last for decades is better investment than buying a pair of $30 jeans every year. Investments don’t HAVE to be something that gives you money back. And investment is anything that allows you to have more money in the future. Whether that’s a house whose value increases over time OR a pair of jeans whose value doesn’t increase BUT prevents you from spending more money over time.

Unpopular (or maybe it's popular i dunno) opinion: Readymade is overpriced and now unoriginal. High fashion labels do reconstruction/military. Anybody & everybody on insta & tiktok is remaking military garments. Duffel bags into coats using their home sewing machines. For a tiny fraction of Readymade's price. No way Readymade could capture the West now with this much solid competition.
@THECASUALco
@THECASUALco Жыл бұрын
Maybe BUT I would still argue that it's direction, name recognition, and consistency as a brand would surely have a leg up on many competitors. Also you have to remember the same can be said for ANY of the brands that were mentioned in the episode. Anyone could construct what The Viridi-anne does, or make a hoodie like Monkey Time, or outerwear like And Wander. Point? The issue ISN'T originality. In fashion it RARELY is. It's solid branding, audience, and consistency; all things that READY MADE already has.
@haroldgrey134
@haroldgrey134 Жыл бұрын
@@THECASUALco For sure, that's fair. But - if readymade hopes to crack into more mainstream western markets, it can't be pricing one-off hand made garments at $9000 a pop! He'll need to branch out into lower price point T shirts with some minor detailing or something haha
@mrotaveria

@@haroldgrey134 I hear u but kinda disagree. We already have plenty of luxury brands/companies out here with wild price tags. I don’t think they need to make lower tier items - even though I’d love that for myself lol - I think they just need a really good marketing department and strategy to be strong regardless of celebrity endorsement. My 2 cents.

They don't NEED it, but it's always good to have options in a world that provides options. The fact that we live in a time where we can present our interests via clothing says a lot about how far we have progressed as humans. Is it all good? HARDLY. We still have a long way to go but does it show a level of progression that's worth noting? Absolutely.
