Dr Ekberg, I've been on a keto diet for a month now. I started it to get my glucose under control. It was registering 250-350. Now, since I started Keto it is down to 130-150. It will not go below this range. Am I doing something wrong? I take 2,000 mg of Metformin and 1500 mg of berberine. Will it keep me from going into ketosis with the glucose nit going below this 150-130 range?

Keto and intermittent fasting was a total game changer for me. I cut carbs to about 35 per day, and calories to 1,600 to 1,800. I lost nearly 40 lbs. As I kept pursuing getting down to 135, I hit perimenopause. Then everything came to a halt. I went from losing 4 to 10 lbs per month to about 1. Finally, I did prolonged fasting every week...58 to 65 hours. Then I was able to drop 2 to 3 lbs per week again. I was totally fat adapted because of the ketogenic diet, so didn't totally feel like I was starving. I want to eat, but felt like it was mostly just boredom...a large portion of our lives revolve around food. This wasn't just for weight loss, but also to commit a certain time and dedication to the Lord...He keeps me on it when I want to just quit and eat. It has become special to me...not something I dread, but look forward to...extra measure of grace, and see the scale drop...what could be better! I love Dr. Ekberg's videos. He taught me what fasting does for your body, and how to come off of a prolonged fast. Blessings on anyone who chose to read my story!😇

Dr E, I think you just might be saving my partner's health, one video at a time! His recent HbA1c level has him at pre-diabetes level. The advice from the doctor was to cut down on refined sugar, eat plenty of fruit and vegetables, lots of wholegrains, low fat everything, low salt - you know the score! I tried to tell him what a recipe for disaster this approach would be, but his attitude was ' If my doctor and the UK diabetes association say it's right, it must be right '. So I made a playlist of videos, mostly yours and some of Dr Berg and Dr Fung, and just happened to have them playing on the tv when he came home from work just over a week ago. We watched them while we ate our steak and salad. I kept asking if he wanted to turn them off, but he was riveted! He's been low carb for a week (apart from some beer and bread at the weekend) and his belly fat is disappearing rapidly. He's even doing some 16:8 fasts. I can't thank you enough for all the effort and research you put into your videos 😊

Once again… dr Ekberg is my religion… found this guy a month ago and I watch him religiously every single day. He keeps me knowledgeable, sane and wary. I thank him so much. Since I started my keto and intermittent fasting watching his videos I’ve been losing weight healthily and happily. I never thought I would be able to have bacon or other fatty foods on a diet, I had a really bad idea of what a diet was. I was 270lbs in the beginning of the year, now I am today as we speak 240lbs. My goal is to be around 190lbs, I’m not starving myself, I’m simply being very focused, I got fat adapted and with that I can go long ways without eating and still have no hunger at all. My wife saw me doing it and being successful and now she is doing and she is also being successful. All thanks to dr Ekberg!

This is so important what he’s saying about the body’s set point. If you have a lot of excess weight, you may find that it’s easy to lose weight until you get to your body’s set point, but difficult to lose weight once you do. I would just encourage you to stick with it because you’ll likely eventually breakthrough if you’re doing intermittent fasting and a healthy non-inflammatory (and even inflammatory triggers can vary from person to person) low carb diet. I’ve found that it’s critical to walk within that fasted state once the metabolic switch has taken place.

Yesterday I left a comment on your video about fasting. When I got on the scales there was no weight loss after 1 month of fasting and 2 weeks of extended time fasting of 14 to 16 hours. After watching this video today I will add begin 2 meals only and add more fat and absolutely NO CARBS and see if that kicks my metabolism into set point change. I have been 117 -120 lbs for almost 10yrs and always eating healthy. I quit smoking 🚬 16 mos ago and my body "broke" I just slept and slept and slept. Feeling better now and so needing to feel good about myself. I am not giving up on my goal to lose 15-19 lbs. I will be in touch...I have saved this video for future reference. Thank you. So very educational. This knowledge should be taught in schools so that children can better understand what is going on with their bodies and protect themselves from the onslaught of processed diets. I showed my 16 year old the video and he was riveted. As a prediabetic (emotional stress induced), I have learned to monitor my glucose. He is now encouraged to monitor his and is actively encouraged to take responsibility of his food choices, as it became clear for him to see too, how he was on his way to become diabetic, if he continued to eat the foods he enjoyed the most (Macdonalds, chocolates, cookies etc with no vegetables). I'm so happy. So once again, thank you for enlightening me, my son and many others who are benefiting from your guidance and knowledge :)

Ever since I’ve started following you and your knowledge of healthy eating I feel much better and lots of my health issues have been declining. I used to try all the old ways of eating healthy which I know now that it really wasn’t healthy and it wasn’t improving my health at all diets such as low fat/ no fat mod carbs and proteins and the only bad carbs were eating too much of cookies and candies were bad carbs. We all were thought wrong. That’s why no body could stick to those diets. Lose a few pounds and back to the original wt and bigger. You’re a life changing dr. Thank you

Dear Dr. Ekberg, Thank you for taking the time to explain these valuable information. Is there a way to get over seasonal depression? That is when I gain additional weight. I admire what you are doing to people and for the care you are offering them.

Hi Dr. Im tired of eating junk food from the streets like McDonalds. To avoid the bad stuff and get on track to repair my body, I always go to the supermarket and buy an avocado, tomato and a few slices of chicken/ham at the deli during break from my work. Am I doing something right here?

Nice video! During the University years, when it was the exam time, some of my colleagues were losing weight, and some of them were gaining weight. Why? It was the same stress period!

@@drekberg so in the end the genetic factor plays a huge role... I heard some people have a "special " gene that seems to make them lose weight harder....

When I was in the army, I never did have snacks. Just the regular three meals a day and I lost 10 kilos during the first month due to the excercises. Most of the other guys bought snacks when ever they could. And, as a consequence they did either not lose weight or gained more! Moreover, they spent their money while I got nice savings. Then, during the university time, some studied more while others enjoyed the "free" time. The first graduated quickly with good grades, while the others spent more time with less good results. Unfortunately, I belonged to the latter group of pupils. 🤥

I agree the body is intelligent and most medical doctors just don't understand that and treat symptoms. Apply what I learned from this youtube channel has gotten me off the bad foods and losing weight but still eating around 3K calories a day. I learned by decreasing my eating during the day down to a small 4 hour window has helped me a lot vs cutting calories with over 35 pounds lost this year so far. I only eat foods that works with the body. Never need to diet and I eat foods that I enjoy that I make in my own kitchen.

Your videos are always so fascinating, Dr. Ekberg. Years ago,, I remember complaining that I could gain weight on 1000 calories. Fortunately I was very active and naturally was not eating breakfasts. You've mentioned the 'why' of that in other videos but this one was a reminder again of 'back then'. I'm keto since 1 year and 3 months,, feel good about longer fasts (my max was 36 hours) and understanding the hows and whys of that. You always explain your subject matter best and in patient, detailed clarity. What a great pity that your videos are not in major languages. I have international friends that I would love to send your links to. I think Spanish would be a priority, French, German, Russian...at least as far as the Euro languages are concerned.

Thank you for your amazing and informative videos. How do you know how many calories you should be eating? If you do IF, do you try and eat all the calories at once? ie on omad? If you do EOD fast, do you eat two days worth of calories at once? I am confused about this. Thanks😊

Would love to see a “dr eckbergs loosers”. It would be slower paced, much less vomiting and crying, more smiles. Must have 6 month follow ups for about 5 years. Maybe this would convince people! I can’t be on it, because I already lost my 50 lbs over about 18 months. New set point and normal weight. Very boring and personally fantastic 🙃. weight off without difficulty x 3 years following a more relaxed version now. Best to you all,

I am with all suggestions but not with reducing the healthy carbs from whole grains and vegetables and not with adding a lot of fats. When I reduced my fat intake to one tablespoon a day, plus the fat in foods like eggs, fish and meat, and when I added healthy carbs (fruits couple of times perweek only), I start losing a lot of body fat, gaining energy and sleeping deep.
