My husband and his family taught me how to cook pork and sauerkraut and told me to cooked it every New Year’s Day for good luck. I’ve been cooking it for 32 years now. His father’s family are from Germany but we live here in the US, there’s a town named to their family and mostly living there has the same last name of ours.

Try to visit Beaches in Tabuelan, Malapascua, Bantayan Island, there is cold spring in Tabugon, Kawasan Falls in Badian. Omg too many places to visit in Cebu. Have fun but stay safe and be very careful.

The lechon looks very yummy and delicious. Also the pork looks very freshly cook and of good quality. I miss eating there in Rico's lechon. I only ate there one time in cebu for a vacation wish i can come back there. Also the root beer is a softdrink/carbonated drink it is like PEPSI, COKE it just a unique flavor for softdrinks. One of my favorite German dishes is schweinshaxe which is crispy roasted pork knuckle. There is a similar dish you can try in the Philippines called crispy pata. It's usually served with atchara which is a sweet shredded green papaya pickle and it would be very similar to eating sauerkraut with pork

I have tried Lechon in one of the Filipino stall in Singapore before. They taste is pretty similar like how the Chinese serve BBQ pork & Grilled Pork which you can find at the Chicken Rice stall. Still I reckon it was quite an experience to try it in the Phillippines. Looking forward to the road trip for more off the beaten path adventures..... Stay safe, Ride safely and take care...... As you can see Ken there's a lot of delicious food in the Phils. you may try next the PORK SISIG, SINIGANG, we have pork sinigang, or shrimp sinigang and fish sinigang, you may also try the Crispy pata and a lot more, you will discover some of it as you travel the different island in the Phils. There are plenty of different foods in every different places, just don't hesitate to ask the locals anytime

Hi Ken.. There's no need to put vinegar in your dipping sauce because the calamansi already gives the sour taste, just soy sauce, calamansi & chili if desired. Every Filipino food is eaten with rice. Most of the foods have strong salty or intense flavour, so rice is the balancer and makes one appreciate the food even better. Also Filipinos and other southeast asians eat with the spoon :). Fork is the westerner's. Foreigners like these kind of infos. Enjoy!

That's one thing special about Lechon, crispy on the outside and juicy inside. Also, the way Filipinos eat usually is we put the food on top of the rice then scoop it with spoon with a help of the fork. Or you can scoop rice then put the food on top of the rice. Enjoy Cebu! :)

Bantayan island north of Cebu is a peaceful island and Malipascua island nearby, you can swim with Thresher sharks. Going south of Cebu is Moalboal, famous for the sardines run, beautiful beaches, restaurants and lots of great people. Southeast of Cebu is Oslob, home of the whale sharks, then there's Sumilon island, marine sanctuary and resort with sand bar. Kuya when you ask the people kumusta ka? The answer normally will be "mabuti" (fine) or "okay lang" (just okay). While in Cebu delicious in Bisaya is "lami", in Tagalog (Manila) is "masarap". Bisaya is a dialect, Tagalog is the National Language. As of now Philippines has 111 dialects and one national language. Thank you for showing Philippines to the world!

So, Pinoy national MUST TRY dish or delicacy, Lechon (Roast whole pig - essentially almost the same as roast pork in Thailand, Malaysia and any oriental Asian countries....), ADOBO! is a style of Pinoy cooking of meat, usually Chicken and Pork.... MUST TRY, actually it's also very similar to many Asian style cooking, basically with vinegar, sugar and some spies, braised with meat. It's nice and decent. Finally, MUST TRY Balut! I know, I know, you've already left Philippines....

Better to eat inside if there's flies. U can use the spoon like a knife to cut the meat into smaller pieces. Try also the Lechon Paksiw. Better to order a veggie dish with the lechon for a well balanced meal.
