Honestly most of this list could be filled with just Capcom games. Capcom doesnt just have a long list of long running franchises, but they are also one of the few studios and big companies that actually been able to keep putting them out. Granted, they did let some die, and some felt like theyve had long hiatus periods, but for the most part theyve at least been consistent with putting out some of their IPs as opposed to most other companies that have them on life support if they are focusing on 1 or 2.

One honorable mention could be Persona (I am biased though because I am a big Persona fan lol), the reason being that people played the game since it came out in the 90's with it's turn based combat, interesting characters, and fun narratives for each game. Plus, a feather in the cap of Atlus is that, even with the spin offs of later games like the dancing games or the Persona Arena games, you can tell they never half-*ss any of their games. In my opinion at least :)

Really don't understand why gta 5 is so popular when its the most absurd online experience to date. A series well known for storytelling that completely abandoned its story quality in favor of an MMO. Not only that but turned a blind eye to Red Dead 2 which had great potential. All rockstar cares about is money, & after the horrible experiences of 5 online, I'm not interested in 6 & I'm glad to have stopped playing that nonsense

Dark Souls only came out in 2011. Doesn't qualify as longest running franchise. They only made three games and is only 12 years old. Demon Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro aren't part of the franchise - they're of the same genre and publisher.

Street Fighter made the list but not Mortal Kombat?????? MK has been around just about as long as SF. Has been running up to current day, has the best single player mode of any fighting game. Having one but not the other is very weird. Like having Ryu but no Ken, Scorpion but no Subzero. Doesn't feel right. Not to mention that MK permanently changed the landscape of the gaming industry as it was the reason the ESRB rating system was created.

Kojima shouldn’t have been number 1 he is critics developer, he knows how to get critics on his side and do the promotion for him. His games are ok nothing truly special if you really dig deep into them. The one thing everyone credits him with is inventing the action stealth genre with the metal gear franchise, but when started to get to experimental the company he was working for said hold up hold up let pull back a little, and when he wouldn’t they fired his ass, and all his friends jumped to his defense. Also kanomi thought the future of gaming was in mobile gaming and pachinko but that’s a whole different story.

I have never played an Armored Core game, but took a quick look and found out that only one of them, the last one, is above 80 on Metacritic, so maybe you finding high quality on all entries is the opinion of a minority. That's ok, there are franchises that aren't that popular and I still love them way more than many on this list, but the entries showed on it are stuff that's almost always above 80 on Metacritic, deserved or not.
