It’s only social media that cares. Its almost as if every influencer must say something about Balenciaga. Nobody cares in real life. I ❤the coach brand but the company said they’d were removing themselves from the luxury sector I myself don’t like the “L” word because it’s over hyped and it makes people feel inferior to others whom don’t have the means to buy and it also acts as if every designer named as a luxury brand is made of unknown materials which makes it seems the consumers has a one of a kind, unlimited piece And we all know that “luxury “ as many call it can be bought anywhere and from anyone So let’s stop with that narrative and just say high quality It sounds better😏👌

It’s a shame how some of the once glorious fashion brands and fashion houses have lost their way. Fashion Roadman, a fashion journalist, has a KZbin video on why many luxury brands are a waste of money. He talks about brands being bought by conglomerates who are only interested in sales and have abandoned their roots of true luxury and class. I think that once a brand is no longer under the control of its originator or the family of its originator, it’s likely to fall victim to selling out.

I never thought of MK as luxury. Just as a good department store brand. I have some Michael Kors totes that I bought maybe 5-10 years ago. The quality for the price point used to be very good, especially on sale. I loved the inner pockets. Most of the bags aside from the logo-ed bags used to be genuine leather. I got some really nice bags back then that didn't scream Michael Kors. About a year ago I bought a logo-ed travel pouch like the one shown in this video to hold my passport, tickets, insurance papers, etc when I fly. The quality is decent but the strap was not leather, which was a disappointment, as my earlier logo-ed bags had lively leather trim.

Now that people are WORKING to make more money and are being INFLUENCED to buy these items and we have social media now it’s not luxury anymore. These items are actually more expensive now than they were years ago ie; my keep all from 2015 - $1400 now 2023 : 2200+ Every brand has their bread and butter and the rest are trendy to catch the consumer because at the end that’s what we are. 😊

@@Aliceinparisofficial I don't think luxury is what it used to be. For me, it's like the difference between a Mercedes and a Maybach. Mercedes is still luxury, yes but a lot of people have and can afford it now, so it has ceased to be an exclusive car (depending on the class) but a Maybach is exclusive by definition since much fewer people have it nor can they afford it, and with that exclusivity comes added luxury. You can literally put a premium on anything these days by virtue of "perceived value" not "real value". I suppose that's the marketing game at the end of the day😢

True luxurious fabrics don't have brand names or logos. The price tag doesn't denote quality; it's the fabric that truly matters. For instance, wool is often associated with luxury and quality. The costliness lies not in the brand or logo, but in the fabric itself; what exemplifies luxury is Linen: Linen was a common fabric used for clothing. It was known for its durability and was often associated with purity and luxury. Wool was also commonly used for clothing and was associated with warmth and comfort. Silk: Though less common than linen and wool, silk is mentioned in the Bible as a luxurious fabric associated with wealth and royalty. Fine Twined Linen: This is a specific type of linen mentioned in the Bible, often used for priestly garments and associated with purity and sanctity. Fine Linen: Another type of linen mentioned, typically used for the clothing of wealthy individuals or ceremonial purposes.

Honestly, I shop more for quality and I find that most vintage clothing is the way to go for me to get the classy look. I’m not concerned with visible logos. The idea is to “leave them guessing” about what “brand” you’re wearing. Let them focus on the style rather than the “label”.

Occasionally, you can get some chic Rick Owens items. So not necessarily to avoid. Maybe just not mainstream.

Liked and enjoyed the vlog. 😊 I buy what makes me happy not to show my pocket status. If people have an issue of whether I should or shouldn't be buying any of these items, oh well. It's my money after all and life is too short to worry about what others think. ...right. 😉 Let's just all have more peace and thankfulness as well as being more humble and kind. to one another. ❤

I'm obsessed with my LV toiletry pouch 26 and my Gucci ophidia pouch...Some logo items are beautiful. I believe it all depends what item it is and how it is style. An all black outfit with the LV logo pouch looks chic and a logo outfit head to toe will no doubt be too much. When it comes to fashion, people need to allow people to do whatever their 15:33 heart desires.. keep in mind we are all created to be different. Because you frown upon it, doesn't mean you categorize the one who rocks it. That's what makes it so interesting. A millionaire can rock a non logo expensive outfit and their attitude is tacky!

Ok. Let me tell u the biggest secret. Really rich ppl dont wear all those full of logos stuffs. They have they own small private brands. Lets say- clothes and accessories are made specially for them by ppl they have chosen. and they are not those designers we all often see as super duper bla bla bla. So relax here everyone . lol

Oh dear lord, what an amazing video. I am happy to say I wouldn't wear any of this. I do have some '70s Gucci and Vuitton that I got from my mother. Also, I don't wear other people's initials. Logos mean nothing to me (although I do like Celine). Thank you for doing this. It was so informative and entertaining, Alice. 😊

Thank you. The Celine logo is a little bit special inspired by the Arc de Triomphe and goes back to the 70s, draw by the founder herself. A lot of heritage. Celine is not streetwear yet and hopefully never.

I have and enjoy old LV bags. The quality is amazing. I can't speak to the new ones, mine are over 25 years old. Moschino, Dsquared, Michael Kors and Philip Pllein are not and have never been luxury. They are 'fashion'. I feel sad for Balenciaga. Mr. Cristobal is rolling in his grave right now over what is going on there. Appalling.

Ah, I love your French accent! I will listen to many more of your vidéos just because of that :-) But it is sad that these brands have gone downhill. As for me, I search for less-popular brands that are exquisitely made in Europe, Canada, or the US. Either with discreet logos, or no visible logo. A small bottier in Paris for my shoes, a shop in the Rhone-Alps for knits, things like that. If it is top quality, that's all it needs to say. Money talks; wealth whispers.

💯 Alice! Awesome video & thank you for speaking the truth. I know we all have different tastes, but flashy logos, clothes that are way too revealing & a lot of random bling (& any other pathetic attempts to get attention like $$ trash bag bags & decomposing shoes) scream new money and zero class (along with a big dose of stupidity in the cases of the shoes that look like you found them in a landfill!) I think a lot of these overpriced, tacky brands are laughing at, if not mocking, their consumers.

I agree with everything but the thing is not everyones style and character is chic or sophisticated or classy not everyone wants to be quite luxury for example hip hop culture style . And many of the brands that you mentioned are meant for the younger crowd no 22 year old wants to look classy it considered as boring in their age. But overall Classy is just one way of style ! Otherwise we only would have classy style and everybody would look the same like robots . Thats why the quite luxury trend was not authentic and it looks fake .

Itis good to get some tips and hear her views on the brand. But it is annoying to hear “If you want to look rich. Sophisticated and classy” I believe a lot of people want to have that classy and sophisticated look, BUT TO LOOK RICH? Lol you are wrong. So can you kindly drop that line please….. sounds so bad and you make fashion lover people, pretentious people!

I actually like both Phillip Plein and Alexander McQueen. I have a soft spot for cleverly crafted items that might look cheap, but you can really see how much care went into making them. Like the Balmain shoppers.

In some way I understand the Andy-Warhol-ness of some of these brands - Doing unexpected things, having fun with Fashion, taking artistic license, treating clothing as modern art. But my issue is, why do you need to pay high-end prices to achieve that? I would have more respect for someone's creativity if they wore actual trash bags and duct tape to a black-tie event (or paid a small local designer for their time to drape them!) than for someone who paid $10,000 for a designer version of the same thing.

I enjoy hearing this perspective, but I still like Michael Kors. I think the quality is much better than Walmart and places like that, plus you can sometimes find it at stores like Marshall’s for even more affordable prices. It’s better than having to shop second hand at places like Goodwill. For people who have finally ended their financial struggles, these brands are nice to have. For some of us, it just feels good to finally buy something new that is made out of real leather and won’t fall apart in a year or less. ❤

I love Gucci. Their bags dont disappoint. And most Gucci things dont have logo. Although my favorite comfiest bad is a Guccissima bag. If people think Im trying to look rich, they can think what they like. Im not going to stop wearing what I like. In fact, Ive worn it so hard, Im going to have to get a new shoulder strap for it, so it has to go to the doctor. I'll never stop wearing it. I think its lucky.
