I feel like thats why we get so many broken games from publishers as well. They know they can “fix it later” with online updates so why fix it ahead of time when people paid full price? /s Now they just rely on the internet to update sometimes making the game feel entirely new. When it could just be done….I don’t know ahead of release. I wish games had to be evaluated and rated to not be a broken mess before launch like how they do with age ratings.

As someone who was born in the late '70s, I've been playing since the Atari 2600 / Colecovision era. The late Xbox/early Xbox 360 era was for me the realization of my video game dreams. I think it contunued to get even better as time went on but peaked sometime in the late PS3 early PS4 era. The current generation is such a let down... Things have never looked better but the gameplay is tired and I just can't get excited about most of the new games coming out. Maybe I'm just getting cranky in my middle-age.

I think it was because developers were allowed to experiment more and publishers weren't as concerned with chasing trends or making safe games. Pandemic studios is a prime example of this as both Destroy All Humans games were quick turn around low budget titles that recycled code and other various things from their bigger titles like Battlefront 1 & 2 and Mercenaries to help expedite the development process.

Army of two is one of the many games i used to play with a dear childhood friend of myn. You could say that allot of my love towards gaming is because of that friend. I lost that friend on the 7th of october last year when Hamas attacked Israel. He was just a police officer who was responsible of protecting a rave, and he gave his life doing just that. An army of one... A god damn superhero.

Worst decision of my life was trading in my copy of auto modellista. As well as trading in my copies of NFS Underground 1 and 2. Come to think of it, I've made a lot of awful decisions selling games that I should have kept.

The best version of The Godfather game was the Black Hand Edition on the Wii. The motion controls were so much fun. Grabbing people and then shaking the controllers to choke em out then swing em side to side to smash them into things was just *chef's kiss*.

I'd say make this a series and include Operation Flashpoint on PC! That was the game that paved the way for so much to follow. DayZ, Battle Royale games, Life Mods, Massive milsim groups. It expanded the genre and truly shaped the future of more serious shooters. Operations Flashpoint lead to ArmA. And the rest is history.

I was born in 94 and had all of them, you should try them if you ever have a chance. LOTR is amazing, Matrix is also amazing. I would definitely add some, like SOCOM, Vigilante 8 (even though that one is a 90s game), Unreal tournament, Splinter Cell, Gothic 1 and 2, both Max Payne. I can go on and on, they are all great.

Also born in 90, I only played LOTR a little bit, it was good. I and my friends didn't play many different games, it was games you could play forever, like Heroes of Might and Magic, we played that for years. I grew to be same, I have 11k hours in Civilization V, and still play that all the time, I am subscribed to video game channels like this, but I play like 2 new games per year tops.

When you got to number 1 and said Army of Two, I literally threw my fists in the air and yelled "THANK YOU!" Great memories with this game!

Path of Neo was overlooked. The difficulty selection thing was genius. You didn't pick, you EARNED it. The better you fight, the harder it gets. Taking down multiple enhanced Agents while pulling off some of the hardest moves felt great. The one thing that elevated the game for me was on one of re-playthroughs. When you had to rescue people who were more aware of the world than they normally new, the librarian level was great, because after wiping the floor with the agents, one managed to get stuck on the railing and was just swinging there gently. So imagine my shock, watching him sway while Neo helps the librarian in the end cutscene of the level was amazing.

@TheThird1977 I was simply pointing out the differences between the games. Trust me I know about those games,I worked in the industry back then. Red Dead Revolver did not sell that well. It had more of an arcade linear shooter feel. There was a big change in the mechanics when it evolved in the series everyone loves, Red Dead Redemption. And to further prove my point, how many videos are in Revolver and how many videos are on Redemption.

Love that you guys included Fusion Frenzy. Missing Jet Set Radio and Resistance Fall of Man. JSR is a Japanese music/skater/gang simulator and it is addictive. I still look up the OST just to listen to the music. RFM is a Halo meets COD clone, but it's seriously fun and with a solid story to boot. I was playing it with my brother the first time I saw it and rolled my eyes at the clear rip off i thought it was. But it surprised me greatly and I still go back and replay every once in a while. I wish the series was given another chance. The fact that even the story really encourages split screen co-op was refreshing at the time

GUN is one of my favorite childhood games. Yes, I shouldn't have been playing GUN when I was 8 years old. But I also probably shouldn't have been playing COD either. But I have some really fond memories of playing GUN! I have a feeling the only reason my Dad was okay with me playing these games was because he was WAAAAY into Cowboy movies and guns. Other than football, guns are really the only thing my Dad and I can truly bond and talk about without there being any sort of awkward silence. Thank you GUN, what a GOATed game!

Whilst I am glad you included it in this list, I really think you are underselling the most memorable thing about Freedom Fighters: the computer AI. And no, not for the opposition enemies, but your own guys in the squads that your character is leading to victories. Up until I had played FF I had basically given up on the idea of a game that had dependable, let alone reliable, computer teammates to order around and give instructions to. And now more than 20 years later, I have still yet to come across a game that has AI like that on a comparable level. Granted, I don't play anywhere near as many games as what I used to, but still. Hopefully I'll get to go back and play it again soon to see if it's as good as I remember it.

For the longest time those were the only games i physically owned. I had the Blockbuster Game Pass. I would go to the grocery store with my mom every week. While she shopped I went to the Blockbuster next door and picked out any game I wanted. No questions asked. A small but fantastic part of my childhood.
