I feel like thats why we get so many broken games from publishers as well. They know they can “fix it later” with online updates so why fix it ahead of time when people paid full price? /s Now they just rely on the internet to update sometimes making the game feel entirely new. When it could just be done….I don’t know ahead of release. I wish games had to be evaluated and rated to not be a broken mess before launch like how they do with age ratings.

Path of Neo was overlooked. The difficulty selection thing was genius. You didn't pick, you EARNED it. The better you fight, the harder it gets. Taking down multiple enhanced Agents while pulling off some of the hardest moves felt great. The one thing that elevated the game for me was on one of re-playthroughs. When you had to rescue people who were more aware of the world than they normally new, the librarian level was great, because after wiping the floor with the agents, one managed to get stuck on the railing and was just swinging there gently. So imagine my shock, watching him sway while Neo helps the librarian in the end cutscene of the level was amazing.

Drakan: The Ancients' Gates! A personal favorite PS2 game from early ‘00. I think it’s underrated but it was my first fantasy adventure RPG so I know I’m biased.

Nah at the time that open world aspect was revolutionary- great game agreed 👍🏻

AOT and 40th day were bloody awesome. The third one was atrocious with boring and bland characters in Alpha and Bravo. 3 ruined the series!

FREEDOM FIGHTERS MENTIONED!!! One of the first games I ever played on the OG Xbox, such a banger

Gun!! One of me and my dad’s favorite games to take turns playing together as a kid, it rarely comes up but Everytime you guys mention it a smile is brought to my face. Totally underrated and not talked about enough.

Scarface, True Crime Streets of LA, Kane & Lynch. But you nailed it with GUN - that game kept me and my brother entertained over and over

"Gun was the western game before Red Dead Redemption" is quite the statement when you consider Red Dead Revolver, the literal game in the Red Dead series that came before Red Dead Redemption, came out the year before Gun did.
@michaelmcclintick95415 ай бұрын
Red Dead Revolver was not an open world game. Gun and RDR was.

@@michaelmcclintick9541 He didn't say open-world game, he said "western game".

@TheThird1977 I was simply pointing out the differences between the games. Trust me I know about those games,I worked in the industry back then. Red Dead Revolver did not sell that well. It had more of an arcade linear shooter feel. There was a big change in the mechanics when it evolved in the series everyone loves, Red Dead Redemption. And to further prove my point, how many videos are in Revolver and how many videos are on Redemption.

Army of Two was probably my favorite shootems game that I could play by myself (I've never had friends to play games with). They really do need to bring those games back

Smuggler's Run on PS2 I think was my most favourite driving game in the mid-2000s. You could drive a buggy, ATV, car, truck. High octane fun.

Before Guitar Hero, we had Frequency and Amplitude. And those games were incredible.

So many awesome games from back in the day! The Warriors from Rockstar. The racing games: Juiced, Midnight Club, Split Second, Burnout, Motorstorm etc. Your Twisted Metal games. Jet Moto. Dino Crisis. The Thing. Shadow Man. I could go on and on. There's thousands.

GUN (2005) was one of the first games I ever started to play through on my own, as a kid on the PS2. Some one stole our PS2 so I never finished back then. Finally got to play through again on the X360 last month. Holds up incredibly well.

Love that you guys included Fusion Frenzy. Missing Jet Set Radio and Resistance Fall of Man. JSR is a Japanese music/skater/gang simulator and it is addictive. I still look up the OST just to listen to the music. RFM is a Halo meets COD clone, but it's seriously fun and with a solid story to boot. I was playing it with my brother the first time I saw it and rolled my eyes at the clear rip off i thought it was. But it surprised me greatly and I still go back and replay every once in a while. I wish the series was given another chance. The fact that even the story really encourages split screen co-op was refreshing at the time

GUN is one of my favorite childhood games. Yes, I shouldn't have been playing GUN when I was 8 years old. But I also probably shouldn't have been playing COD either. But I have some really fond memories of playing GUN! I have a feeling the only reason my Dad was okay with me playing these games was because he was WAAAAY into Cowboy movies and guns. Other than football, guns are really the only thing my Dad and I can truly bond and talk about without there being any sort of awkward silence. Thank you GUN, what a GOATed game!

Whilst I am glad you included it in this list, I really think you are underselling the most memorable thing about Freedom Fighters: the computer AI. And no, not for the opposition enemies, but your own guys in the squads that your character is leading to victories. Up until I had played FF I had basically given up on the idea of a game that had dependable, let alone reliable, computer teammates to order around and give instructions to. And now more than 20 years later, I have still yet to come across a game that has AI like that on a comparable level. Granted, I don't play anywhere near as many games as what I used to, but still. Hopefully I'll get to go back and play it again soon to see if it's as good as I remember it.

I know it came out in 98, so it’s not in the 2000s, but Body Harvest was SUPER underrated. It walked so GTA 3 and beyond could run. Also, the shoutout of Full Spectrum Warrior was awesome. That was also an absolutely underrated game. I still quote that game with my cousin to this day.

When I got my Xbox at launch it came with 3 games. Sega GT, Jet Set Radio Future and a demo of Fusion Frenzy. I, of course, also got Halo CE. For the longest time those were the only games i physically owned. I had the Blockbuster Game Pass. I would go to the grocery store with my mom every week. While she shopped I went to the Blockbuster next door and picked out any game I wanted. No questions asked. A small but fantastic part of my childhood.

Freedom Fighters? Mercenaries? The Godfather? Army of TWO? All FANTASTIC examples, I LOVE THESE GAMES! I'd love to see modern ports or remasters of these titles, they're the kind of games we're sorely lacking nowadays :(

MechAssault 1 & 2, Crimson Skies, Crimson Sea 1 & 2, Fear Effect 1 & 2, Power Stone 1 & 2, Parasite Eve 1 & 2, Evolution 1 & 2, Galarians, Shadow Hearts 1 & 2, Steambot Chronicles, Dark Cloud 1 & 2, Okage: Shadow King, Oni, Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex are very underrated in my opinion. I haven’t heard many people talk about those games.
