Linkin Park was of course my gateway band, but the album that opened those gates fully was Soulfly’s debut album. It was the album that made me learn to growl, because of how good Max Cavalera’s growls sounded. I discovered them when I was 11 or 12 and I went to Denmark with my grandparents as we were invited by my uncle. He borrowed me a discman and let me check out his cds collection. Then I found this black jewel box with iconic tribal that I already knew, because my uncle has it tattooed (and so have I now) on his arm. To be fair, this album and RATM compilation CD were on constant replay through whole 2 weeks I was in there. Been a fan of Max Cavalera ever since

Human clay by creed is my favorite album of all time, Creed is the band that got me into rock and therefore into metal. The 3 album's that stick out for me growing up was human clay, oceans between us by AILD and away from the sun by 3 doors down.

Dug some out of my CD case, here's a few that I listened to on top of Jared's mentions: Sonic Firestorm by Dragonforce Train of Thought by Dream Theater The Poison by Bullet for My Valentine Getting Away with Murder by Papa Roach Meteora by Linkin Park Fallen by Evanescence Volume 3 The Subliminal Verses by Slipknot Believe by Disturbed And Love Said No: The Greatest Hits by H.I.M. And some classics like Blizzard of Ozz by Ozzy Osbourne and Dirt from Alice in Chains that I still love. I'm sure there's more but they aren't coming to me right now.

I must say that "human clay" has influenced my musical taste quite a bit. And Jared is right! Every song on the album does not disappoint at all. Especially the sound of Mark's signature guitar and his guitar playing in general. Frontman Scott Stapp grew up in a strict Christian home, which he elaborated on in "Torn" and "My own prison" on the eponymous debut album. You can't deny that Christian content is present in a few songs, especially the song "Faceless man" suggests a lot. But the song has been interpreted differently by both Christians and a more radical form of Christianity. Some say, with the faceless man Jesus was meant and the radical group again sees in it the devil. Nevertheless, as I have already mentioned, "human clay" is a damn cool album!

All of the first five albums I ever paid money for would all fit into this category: Metallica - Master of Puppets Anthrax - Persistence of Time Slayer - Seasons in the Abyss Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power Scatterbrain - Here Comes Trouble😂 Seriously though, Scatterbrain may have been a joke band, but they were seriously talented.

@@RIPJimmyA7X you are damn right! Every Game that puts Deftones in their soundtrack is immediately a God-tier game! Btw. I've been playing Cyberpunk 2077 recently and was freaking out about a Game putting Black/Extreme Metal in to their Soundtrack. It fits perfectly in to the universe.

Loved Breaking Benjamin when I was 11-16. I also loved Chevelle, but Deftones is my all time favorite band because I grew up with them. Other classics I can think of are L.D. 50 by Mudvayne, Slipknot’s first two albums, Wisconsin Death Trip by Static-X, and there’s a ton others

I heard that One-X was written by Adam Gontier (the former singer of 3DG) while he was in rehab. It's why all the songs are about drugs, drug abuse, getting sober, and the strain that addiction has on your relationships. It's why he sings it so passionately, cuz he lived all of it. For me, One-X is def on the list, but so are Billy Talent 1 and 2.

At the risk of sounding cliche, discovering Metallica for the first time changed me. I used to be a rap kid in junior high, but I always had a bit of passing interest in guitar because my dad played guitar in church and as a side gig. Hearing Master Of Puppets for the first time made me realize that deep down, I was a metalhead, and to this day, Master of Puppets is still my all time favorite album. Other gems from my metal formative years include: Skepsis - Through The Eyes Of The Dead Cosmogenesis - Obscura Inhuman Rampage - DragonForce Avenged Sevenfold’s self-titled album Indestructible - Disturbed ObZen - Meshuggah Zero Order Phase - Jeff Loomis Dead Heart In A Dead World, This Godless Endeavor and Enemies Of Reality - Nevermore Still slaps to this day 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
