Can i use three sets of dumbbells so 7.5kg for biceps,5kg & 2.5kg for rest of muacle group? I can do 2 or 3 rounds please reply me thanks Gareth
@ImprovedHealthКүн бұрын
Absolutely! I always recommend for people to use different sized weights according to what challenges the muscle being worked. Also, yes, the more sets you do, the more growth and changes you'll see. I typically do 4 sets for each exercise I do.

Thanks for your feedback, Joanne. I usually prefer talking in the strength workouts, but I know a lot of people prefer no-talking videos. It's always tough for me to decide which way to go.

Jules, this was a "just right" weight workout for me today so that I could experiment with how heavy I wanted my weights to be at this point. I was able to use 5 lb weights on everything but the lateral lifts which I switched to 3 lb weights. It felt so good to be able to do this again. Thanks!
@ImprovedHealth5 ай бұрын
So glad that you gave this one a try and great idea to stick with lighter weights with getting back into it. A lot of people need to use light weights for shoulders due to various shoulder injuries. I would suggest sticking with 3 lbs for shoulders, Valerie. There is no need to go heavier with having had some issues with your shoulders lately. If your shoulders continue to feel good over the next 2-3 weeks with the 3 lb weights, then just increase the reps you do with the 3 lbs, instead of lifting heavier. Or, do 2 or 3 sets over time. I broke my collarbone over 15 years ago, and still have to lift lighter weights for shoulders due to the injury.

Thank you so much for doing these sessions. I am starting right at the bottom again in regards to energy and strength. I also have osteoarthritis in both my knees and my left knee at the moment is very swollen full of fluid and i have an oedema so I have to be careful with what I do but I can definitely manage this and it makes me feel that at least I am doing something instead of just sitting around all day. I look forward to progressing in the weeks to come. Thank you.

How heavy are the weights?
@ImprovedHealth14 күн бұрын
I can't remember now but I usually use 20 lbs for back and 12-15 lbs for biceps. What matters is that you use the weights that feel right for you and weights that challenge you, while also allowing you to have good form (no swinging). I have a blog post on my website where I talk about using the right amount of weight if you'd like to learn more. I'll add my website (www.improvedhealthforseniors.com). If you're not a senior, not to worry. The same rules apply for strength training:)
