Hello. How are you doing. For me it worked, the pain is still there when i hyperextend my lower back BUT my lower back and hips aren't stiff and sitting isn't painful. Look for poses that will work your Iliopsoas, and gluteus medium muscles. Do it everyday for at least 10 min. Don't work through pain and don't force yourself. I hope it works for you

Yoga is great for your back problem,but please no forward bends at all as they make your disc problem worse or can make the herniated disc return.

I have 3 herniated discs and canal stenosis amongst other things its pretty bad at times does it work? I've just been told they can't operate on the main injury now and I just want to get better

FINALLY LESS PAIN! I was a very active, avid runner/hiker/kayaker/etc. until I over exerted myself and ended up having a herniated L5-S1 disc. I was in an enormous amount of pain every waking minute for almost a year. I couldn’t even walk one step or be sedentary without pain. I tried it all - two physical therapists, two chiropractors, two acupuncturists, ortho dr, one cortisone injection in my spine, TENS unit, nothing worked. I was getting very depressed thinking I would never be able to be active again. I was searching KZbin for any help and found this video (I am not a yoga person, but was desperate). After the first time, I already felt a decrease in pain. I’ve only been doing the exercises for a few weeks, but I set an alarm every hour, do a couple reps of the exercises, walk around for a few minutes, and my pain has decreased by probably 70-80%. I am now walking 20-25 min daily, which has also helped my pain. You have changed my life, THANK YOU!

I’ve been following this video and one other daily. It’s been 5 weeks since I herniated a disc and 2.5 weeks since I added this routine to my healing process. My pain is reducing and I’m not in continuous pain all day anymore. Hopefully I’ll be fully healed soon. Thank you so much!!!

I have been suffering from a very severe herniated disc at the L5-S1 level. Tried physical therapy for months and medications. As last resort, the doctor suggested surgery. But, due to its high relapse rate, I decided to give yoga a chance before surgery. There are many yoga sessions on KZbin for herniated disc, which may have worked for others, but for me, this short session does the job. I do it every morning after waking up, and it relieves my pain immediately. I do one extra pose at the end that my physical therapist told me to do - low lunge for about 3 minutes, changing legs. Thank you, Christina, for this amazing session !! You saved me from unbearable pain.

I’m pretty sure you broke through my husbands depression. He slipped his disk last week and was out of work for Thursday and Friday. I’ve begged him to do yoga, as of today girl he’s been on a three day streak. Not only that but my butt is up at 4:30 working out with him lol thank you thank you thank you. He’s seen the light!!

One thing to note at 9:58 is when going from lying on your back to sitting up, you want to roll to one side and gently push yourself up with your hands (rather than, say, doing more like a sit-up motion). I have been told by multiple physical therapists that it's the best way to protect the spine, and applies to when you are getting out of bed as well. Great video. I herniated a disc (doing forward folds in yoga!!!) a few years ago and am mostly recovered, but still need to do routines like this to stay strong or to loosen up when I get a twinge. It works! thank you.

I have a herniated disc too. Physiotherapy like TENSE, IFT aggravated my symptoms. Walking and lying down is okay but prolonged sitting makes me want to kill myself. Just discovered this video after being diagnosed with lumbar disc degeneration. My doctors have said there is nothing they can do and it is now about pain management. So this routine is a lifeline as I thought I could not longer do yoga. Thank you so much! After just doing the routine once I know this is something I need to do every day! I hurt my back last September. The doctors wanted me to have a very expensive surjury to relieve the pain but instead I dealt with it and stretched and tried not to lift anything. I'm finally feeling better but I got too confident and tried to work out recently and reinjured it. The past week I've been following along with this video every morning and its helping a lot. I have partially herniated disks in L4, L5 & S1 for 16yrs now. This video has been my go to ever since I found it multiple yrs ago. Everytime it acts up I have a hard time getting up & down, have to help lift my hips up when turning in bed…then getting out of bed is more like a roll, & if I stand a certain way…I have no strength to hold myself up. After a few days of excruciating pain I’m able to start doing these stretches….literally get so much relief everytime. Thank you ❤

This is the first yoga video I've followed. Two days ago I was diagnosed with a small hernia in L5-S1 and I've had chronic pain in my lower back for the past two years that comes and goes. When I'm in an inflammatory crisis, I can't go from a sitting/standing/lying position without screaming in pain. Thank God I'm able to walk properly, but neurological pain is complicated to manage. Even though I'm still in pain after watching this video, it has certainly helped me a lot mentally. I'm going to continue to follow it assiduously!

Thank you so much for sharing this practice! I am almost back to my regular strength and ability levels after a back injury left me with a herniated disk. I was nervous to try this as only today I was able to walk normally again, but it was so gentle and helpful! I highly recommend this to anyone who is still experiencing some pain/numbness in your leg, but is looking for something to help strengthen your body and help with the healing. I did this practice after a short walk so my muscles were warmed up.

I had mild disk bulge in March 2023. After the recovery physiotherapy, I was able to resume my routine but still had minor pain. After doing this yoga, pain has gone and I can even run for 3 km without pain. This really works.

I'm definitely doing this one again, I've just done this and your beginners hatha and feel great, my back feels amazing, I have fibromyalgia as well as a lot of arthritis, herniated discs and spondylitis in my neck, but I don't feel so tight as I did, and I've not had to have any pain killers yet. Most likely, but it will take time, keep doing what you can daily, then after some time slowly add other poses, but you'll probably need to do it at your own pace vs video etc

I've been practicing yoga for 4 weeks now, this is the first video that helped me! I'm only 33 years old and I'm not sure exactly what's wrong with my back besides arthritis but the pain is so bad I can't stand up straight and I loose feeling and function in my legs. I do go to the doctor in two days though. But like I said, this practice eliviated most of my lower back pain.

I know it's been a few years since you shared this routine but I still want to say, "Thank you." I had a herniated disk several years ago that caused me to nearly lose my ability to walk or straighten my legs and back. Due to misdiagnosis and a long wait period to get corrective surgery, I have permanent nerve damage as a result. When it flares, it's as if the disk is herniated all over again. This routine is a daily thing for me now. It doesn't always alleviate the pain completely, but it definitely takes the edge off at the very least. Thank you again.

Thank you Christina!! Great yoga class!! I am suffering from another disk bulge in my back. I work as a Special Education teacher and I’m always at risk of getting hurt. Your yoga class really helped me feel better!! I am able to walk and move freely without pain. I have notice less pain in my lower back , and legs after doing the yoga stretches . I definitely need a career change . This is my second disk injury. Has hurt my L5 S1 and looks like a new disk injury L3 . Not sure yet until I get the scan. My doctor feels confident that it is.
