I’m tearing up watching the first section of this video, at the age of 21 I have had chronic back pain for over a year now, been to 4 doctors over 10+ appointments, had X-rays, ultrasounds, looked into ibs, diet, Endometriosis etc. all who have told me in the end “we don’t know why you have pain”. Now saving up money for an osteopath at the moment, but yoga has been the only thing that has helped (I’ve been doing for 3 months now). Thank you for talking about this!

I'm on my 30's going through a similar experience, trying to find the cause of severe back pain on my periods and doctors just say "it's normal to feel pain" 😓 Now, a good osteopath, one that you trust, can help a lot 🤞🏻

I’ve actually been reading a different but similar book “the way out” by Alan Gordon, which is, as far as I could tell from reviews, a newer, more scientifically backed approach to the exact same idea. His patients have all been cured or healed dramatically as a result of somatic tracking, essentially a medical word for being mindful of your pain. It’s worked miracles already for me! I only found it because of this other book you mentioned, so thank you!

Thank you all for sharing how these exercises have helped heal your lower back pain. I have started to get sciatic pain and lower back pain after I got my 1st covid vaccination. Back then I was doing nearly everyday hiking, walking up the mountain and doing hospitality work that required a few hours of standing and bending. I'm starting to think this is where I've caused stress and lower back pain and plus with the amount of stress I was experiencing at work. Last year I got and MRI lower back scanned and doctors told me I have hernia disc bulging, My doctor recommended two things I can do to help my lower back pain situation. 1. Is to have a surgery and I was recommended to see a specialist to see if I need a surgery. 2. See a physio to help me manage this pain with regular exercises. The past few years I have not been able to do physical activities that requires long periods of time standing and do cooking or cleaning around my house that requires quite a bit of bending., cause they totally devastate my back and legs to a point that I have to rest for a few days of doing any housework or movement, walking etc. for my back to heal up again. It's a horrible pain which I've mentioned to a work colleague of mine and he told me he used to have this problem too and told me about certain stretches and exercises that we can do and help heal and put the hernia disc back where it should be and decrease the pain. If it wasn't because of you folks I would have got a lower back surgery to try remove the issue, not targeting with the issue heads on which later on might end up causing more injury on my back and with movement overtime. I've heard stories about people that have had surgery for this lower back issue and years down the track it have continued to cause other neck spine back pain issues I don't want to have a lower back surgery ever, I think it's quite risky and can cause more issues than doing any one any good once these parts of our body is ever opened and allow parts of our internal bones or organs being touched through harsh surgeries.

Two years ago i had sciatica, it hurt so much i could barely sit nor stand for 5 min. It affected everything in my life, from sleeping to stepping off the curb to walking….I had gone through all the treatments but not until i found Osteopath and that combine with acupuncture saved me. Tim was right, treatments are nothing unless you walk regularly. I was advised to walk 30 min everyday, but mindfully about how your body is moving, core and pelvis. Then walked 1 hour everyday. Almost a year later, I don’t even notice it anymore! I’m still trying to do the walks, but no need for any treatments now. Daily yoga also helps (body and soul). Thank you Tim for sharing your story.

@ashleywilliams71025 ай бұрын
@@hammill444well the worst thing you can do for a back injury is to not doing anything. You must keep moving. It truly does help. Think of older people who don’t do anything they start to lock up and breakdown faster. It’s not cause of their age it’s because they aren’t moving. To “stay young” you must keep moving. Hell that’s the reason most people are overweight or find it hard to loose weight. And the reason for that is as we get older we stop moving as much. Most people don’t take more than 8-10 thousand steps a day. The key to losing weight tbh is exertion. We weight more because we move less. To weight less, you must move more.

In my years of exercise and working through various problems (knee, shin issues with running, elbow and finger issues with climbing, back issues) my main take away has been to keep trying new things. Keep trying to find solutions. Does stretching not work? Try strengthening exercise. Does rest not work? Go to a fysio. Basically don't give up and always look for new ways to fix the problem. Everybody is different and eventually you will find what works for you.

Hi Tim, thank you very much for the video, I found it very interesting and helpful. I am 62 years old, a lifelong surfer who is just getting back into the water over the last few months. I’ve had a back issue for 20 years with scans showing disc bulge, herniation and arthritis similar to your story. I have completed the initial yoga class tonight and found it interesting and helpful. I completed the postures with reasonable ease and without antagonising my back pain. I have been completing stretches and corrective exercises daily over a long period(perhaps some are the wrong exercises,) and am quite flexible, however I do have ongoing back pain and sometimes mild sciatica. My lower back pain has been reasonably strong for the last few weeks and I’m not getting on top of it with my usual exercises etc . Your story touch the cord with me as appeared somewhat similar to my own . I have subscribed to your channel and would like to learn more, get on top of my pain and start your routines/program. I would like your opinion, as mentioned I have been doing corrective exercise and stretching over a fairly long period and I’m quite flexible would it be more beneficial for me to start with a slightly more advanced routine to begin with or stay with this routine. I look forward to hearing from you, Thanks again, kind regards, Dave, Gold Coast, Australia

Thank you for sharing your story, it's hard when that happens at such a young age because it doesn't cross your mind. I had cauda equina when I was 27, extremely grateful that I can walk, however the Dr diagnosed it too late & it left permanent nerve damage. Over 23 years it's led to degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, fibrosis of the nerves and arthritis. I had a big relapse 10 years later, that's when I was given the stenosis diagnosis, even though it was recorded in my medical records 7 years previously. However I went through an excellent physio program of hydrotherapy and then a back rehab class, which led me to yoga. Your videos have been a god send for me and have given me the confidence to chase my dream as a yoga teacher. I've always appreciated the attention to detail you put in your practices that other yoga teachers don't. Bought Dr Sarnos book. Thank you so Much!! I am experiencing a pinched a nerve or something like that, in my lower back after jumping back into the Gym. This wonderful gentle approach really felt different than, the targeted stretching and pressing on the area that I was doing ... I'm feeling the healing already, and truly appreciate this ! Thanks again !! Peace, joy, and happiness always -Love Erik

I've been doing yoga for 15 years, perhaps always too aggressively, I'm very flexible but a I always have some sort of back pain. I had also abused my lower back with gymnastics, breakdance and skateboarding at a younger age. I never thought about going through those basic movements, concentrating on muscle tension and position more than range. I'll give it go, thanks 🙏

I've done these stretches and exercises for 3 straight days, and I've noticed a significant difference. (Sitting in a car still hurts) I've watched so many videos where they tell you to do Pigeon Pose or pulling your knees to chest. That just makes my pain worse. You're right about the gentle movements being key in recovery.

Thank you for this. Like you I was stretching as much as could doing my normal yoga routine believing it would help the healing process. But the pain was getting worse..Now after doing this I realise how my over stretching was actually hindering the healing process. So grateful and looking forward to moving on to more videos as my back feels ready to.

I'm learning what works and doesnt. Slowing down to build stability. Holding bird dog 60 sec each side is challenging but strength slowing building. I find stretchy keeps jarring. Sally daily. Taking glucosamine and glutamine.also climbing stairs helps in small amounts. Your cues about slowing doe nervous system so helpful. We want to flee or fight pain. I'm always fixing things but then I can't relax....maybe I'm stuffing my anger, nope buy yes I'm stressed about fixing this and my POTS which is a form of dysautomnia. I'm so happy you can be active again. I pray for the same🙂😇

I’ve had lower back issues for years - L4 and L5 pain from Scoliosis, more recently moving into my hips and groin affecting sleep and mood and definitely not helping my golf swing! Found this on you tube this morning and felt all the pain and tension melting away as I followed your stretches 🙏 thank you so much, I will carry this on as you’ve suggested and have subscribed for when I feel ready to change it up with your other stretches and workouts, thanks again

Thank you for this practice 🙏 A herniated disc and and arthritis in my lumbar spine... I also thought this was terrible. I was advised not to do yoga or pilates for 8 or 10 weeks. Obviously, my surgeon and PT had no clue about your teachings or Dr. Sarno. I was strongly encouraged to walk and when you're sharing your life with dogs you know you walk them every single day.

Last year I went to bump my yoga practice to a daily routine, and found your challenge last year, so I had a way to focus my own practice and work on healing a pinched nerve in my back. My chiropractor office has bugged me several times because they say I am "over due" for an appointment. But--I have bested that pinched nerve through my daily, focused practice with you. Thank you - even before today's lesson.

I’ve always had back pain. But with a healthy lifestyle and sport, I've learned to live with it. 3 years ago I had a very bad fall on the stairs at my workplace. Verdict: 2 fractured lumbar vertebrae, pelvic bone cracked. And I consider myself lucky because it could have been much more serious. Today I am quite well. I have practiced yoga and pilates regularly since... always. In my job as a teacher, good posture is an important tool. I have sequelae (compression of the lumbar discs) but I refuse to let them define my future activities. I completely agree with you that our emotions too often not expressed and buried, cause tension in our body (and mind). And as we are not used to listening to our body, these tensions only accumulate without being able to go out. A nice recipe for a pressure cooker! In our completely crazy lifestyle, we have the impression of being able to control everything and impose on our body our excessive ego. Being able to connect our body, mind and soul (and flaws) is an everyday job. And even when we know this, we tend to forget about it and... lose the connection... till we have to learn all over again to take care of our body, mind and soul! Thank you, Tim, for you videos and for sharing your experience. They help to ground me a lot. And boy, do I need a reminder now and then!...

Thank you so much! I was so much helped by this, I couldn’t believe how quickly my low back felt better after just one session. I’ve been doing it for about a month now and really enjoying. I want to echo the comment right before about Dr. Sarno. I read his book, and my back pain pretty much disappeared within a day or two. Highly recommend that as well. But I’m still loving doing these exercises with Tim. Thank you so much.
