I was going to request this exact video because I struggle with proper form during chatturanga and ta-da! Here it is! And as always, you explain and demonstrate things so excellently. Thank you!

Hi Lesley! The way you react shows what a great teacher and Yogi you are! Thank you! Right after I posted I thought maybe I shouldn't have done that, because often people get offended by a comment like that. Your kind reply is a relief! Namsté!

Love your tutorials. I am always worried about alignment. I stopped doing the chaturanga because hurt my wrists and shoulders. With this class I realized that I don't keep my gaze forward. Thank you so much.

Thank u so much for this video. I have been practicing Vinyasa yoga looking at your videos. I simply love practicing yoga with u every morning! I have weak tendons in my shoulders n I can't do a Chaturanga, but I do a Ashtanga Namaskara every time, uncertain if putting the knees down on the floor was a right practice for Vinyasa Yoga. Watching this video gave me a sigh of relief! Thank u so much Lesley! 😊

It really is hard... I always have to check myself for not hyperextending the elbows, especially in plank, up dog and down dog... Hmm, so thats the poses we do most often... Tough.. It is so hard to notice those things on yourself, so much easier to see it on others. I did a similar thing by shifting way to much bodyweight forward when jumping back into plank overworking my shoulders. One actually started to hurt already, but I didn't know why, till Shiva Rea walked up to me at a seminar saying: "Hey, you should stop doing "that" or you will hurt your shoulders badly." It would have probably taken me much longer to figure out what was wrong... Luckily Shiva saved my shoulder. :-) There were no great Yoga tutorials like yours on youtube back than.

Another great video Lesly! Thank you! I hope you don't mind, if I give you a tiny little bit of advice that would make your mastery of poses even greater (I know it is hard for a teacher to find someone to correct the own poses, so I hope you do not mind!). If you see yourself at Minute 2 in the video you are doing two things that might show harmful to your elbow joints over time: 1. You hyperextend your naturally very flexible elbows in high plank 2. When you change from low plank to Up-dog you are first dipping back changing the angle of your elbows from perfect 90 degrees to a smaller angle. A very common mistake easily overlooked that increases the pressure on the elbows with every vinyasa. I assume that might just have happened because you were talking at the same time, so excuse me for the correction. I myself have a very hard time reminding myself to keep my elbows extended, not hyperextended (I have rubber-elbows too). :-) Keep up the great work! Kind regards!

I often wondered about that too, in regards to your points 1 and 2, as i've seen many yoga vids that show the teachers doing that so thank you for raising this! It has certainly put my mind at ease as at one point i was getting confused on what the correct way should be, lol. Thank you so much! And thank you Lesley for all your vids, i always look forward to them every week!

Fightmaster Yoga, Your tutorial helps a lot. I definitely need to correct my sun salutation posture and with your help hopefully i'll master it sooner than later. I suspect that not doing sun salutation correctly is what causing my shoulder pain.

so helpful! thank you for the transitions tutorials. can i request (at your convenience of course) tutorials on some/all/any of your commonly used flow poses, please? i feel that with some years of past and present experience and many classes i have a decent handle on things but am always looking to deepen my practice, and i know that alignment and proper positions are really vital to the healthiest experience i can have. often in your classes i am correcting and being mindful as you direct us with instructions within the poses, and i sometimes realize that i have never done a particular element of a common pose before! also, in some poses, i really "feel" nothing in terms of a stretch or engagement of muscles such that i wonder if i am positioned correctly. (ie chair, the warriors, side angle, triangle, wheel, bridge, down dog, up dog, shoulder stand) i know this is a long list - no pressure of course! your help is always so appreciated. you have become my primary teacher, and i appreciate you immensely. :)

I really enjoy these tutorials. Thank you for doing these! I would love to see a tutorial on how to roll over your toes from chatturanga into upward dog and then into downward dog. And maybe some stretches for the toes and ankles to help facilitate this movement. I can roll over mine into downward dog fairly easily. I struggle though into upward dog. Could this be related to weak lower back muscles?

I am a big fan of your videos... but I hate your black background ! Please don't. It's so "un-natural", is it a SF movie? Sorry, just kidding. It might be a very clasical request but would you make a How to for Sun salutation ? I can't get a proper sun salutation ! I don't know when to inhale or exhale, when to have a straight back a or not, how to place my feet before and after cobra... Thank you !

I'm Lesley's husband and I do the filming. We got a chance to film at a green screen room in the KZbin space LA which is like a movie studio. Unfortunately I don't know how to do green screen so it looks kind of cheesy. Don't worry, the regular classes will still be filmed on location at the yoga shala.
