Thank you for encouraging your viewers to use cash. Using cash helps me to keep a strong check on my spending. I look in my wallet and think twice about buying that ribeye that looks so delicious in the meat counter, for instance. I get ground beef and fry it up as a "hamburger steak". Sometimes...I get the ribeye but only if my wallet looks flush enough for me to do so. Spending with cash helps me to spend less and save more. 🙂

Just buy low sell high. Stick with a good company by either not selling when it’s going lower and/or buying more at that time. Almost always the good well managed companies will come back strong at some point. The other is to get yourself a financial-advisor that can provide you with entry and exit points on the shares/ETF you focus on.

Due to my demanding job, I lack the time to thoroughly assess my investments and analyze individual stocks. Consequently, for the past seven years, I have enlisted the services of a fiduciary who actively manages my portfolio to adapt to the current market conditions. This strategy has allowed me to navigate the financial landscape successfully, making informed decisions on when to buy and sell. Perhaps you should consider a similar approach.

Austin, I really appreciate your channel, you give your time to educate us and help us stop sleepwalking into eternal debts. As a working class, minimum wage lady, I am not one to fritter money any more. I use to though, when I earned more , I spend most of it on god knows what. I look around me and none of the things I purchased are in my life now, except my home. Thank goodness I still have that I am still able to pay for that. If I understood how I was trading my time for such a paltry salary and spending like mad, I would have stopped and been totally sorted, anyway better late than never. I am totally grateful that you took the time to break it all down, the way you present would even be great for children who are already being sucked into the material traps.

Excellent tips -- it does seem like people are busier than ever and I wonder how much of that is just our spinning our wheels, like we're addicted to constant distraction and that feels like busyness. Is there really so much to do or do we just have so much at our fingertips at all times: shopping, reading email, keeping up with current events, checking social media. How many of those are necessities and how many of those are just things we think we should be doing but don't really have to. 'Tis a puzzlement!

I'm still 'ole-school' in payments = I don't like anything automatically coming out of my accts = I like my monthly & personal handling of everything. .. i also don't like ' monthly subscription of products either, even though the price is less = i usually use way less. And I sometimes get tired of current products. This gives me peace of mind, knowing I have 'full control'. 😊

Awesome video as always, El Augustin! 👏😊 To your point about most people incurring extra monetary costs from the convenience of online shopping, I will add that making this a bad habit will also cost a lot of extra time. Like you said, shopping in-person has many barriers attached to it (eg. having to drive to the store) that prevent most people from going more often than is necessary. We are forced to be more mindful of how much time, and money, we are spending while shopping in-store because the only reason why we’re there is to buy what we need/ want and leave. So, someone who doesn’t shop online and only goes to physical stores once or twice per week might spend two hours of their time on shopping in total, maybe even including their drive time. But for someone who regularly browses/ shops online, if they spend 20 minutes of their time online browsing/ shopping every day, they will spend 2 and a half hours of their time by the end of each week. Each set of 20 minutes doesn’t have to happen all at once either…maybe every day it’s 10 minutes at your lunch break and 10 minutes in the evening….it all adds up! P.S.- The city I live in (in midwestern US) does not give you the option to autopay for your utilities….It’s very annoying.

I stopped ordering pizza because the delivery costs plus the tip were becoming as much as the pizza with a coupon price. Now, I drive a couple of miles and pick it up, and use a Dollar Tree hot bag. It is less convenient but a cheaper workaround. The downside is less trips in the winter months. I also have a subaccount on my savings account for an emergency fund, so they are separate. Can you make a video on how you are handling paying twice the amount in rent now?

I'll see if I can make that video happen! My rent was just ridiculously low for so long that I was able to save so much money that, at least for now, doesn't hurt me financially. Like for 2 years at my past job, my rent was about 15% of my income, and they say it should be no more than 33%.

Hi Austin, great video with a lot of good ideas, as always. I am curious, I do things a bit differently, and I am wondering if anyone else does this also. I rarely use cash and here’s why. I have four credit cards due to my husband passing, and because one cannot cancel credit cards without having their credit score hit. So I have kept all four, and they are all cash rewards cards. So like you, I do auto pay, but I do it to the four credit cards, based on which gives me the highest percentage cash back for the category. I pay off all four credit cards every month, but utilizing the credit cards this way instead of cash, I make money on my purchases. And keeping cash in the bank also gives me a bit of interest instead of withdrawing it for spending. Does anyone else do this? 🤔

Your average dollar per time is around $4. It's very conservative bec when people think their hours worth it $20, they can eat out every day for a month for $20 thinking it's just 30 hours of their life but eventually spending 600/3200. 18.75% of their monthly take home pay already by just one action

Very true, i was raised by extremely frugal parents who thought they were good money managers, but my childhood was so harsh and restricted. They still don’t treat themselves although i try to teach them to let loose. They feel guilty, when they overspend. As for me, i am proud that i have found a healthy relationship with money. I look richer than i am (according to statistics, i earn less than the majority in my country), and i think it comes from a good way of spending money (organic food, quality clothes, a very pretty watch).
