Can I just say that I adore your cat. Mine is quite similar and is always curious about my crochet too. Thank you for your Tips. One thing I also do is talking pictures with my work in progress so I can see which Hook I used for this, as I have a large collection of hooks from different sizes and brands. And I always have several projects that I am working on. I also attach the yarn I use to a small cardboard and write the name oft the brand, the color number etc on it, so I it is easy to find the information if I have to buy more and having this project card makes it easy for me to organize my projects too

So many great ideas and a list of times where I can find them. That's the best tip of all. When looking for yarn at a Charity shop I have often seen blankets made of "so called" Granny Squares which don't seem to sell and I know why. They have often used dull colors and only one or two. Yours look like flower gardens. I never thought taht my next project would be made of Granny Squares. Color I'm looking for. Thank you so much.

Great tips. My greatest trick is this. When you find youve got only a short end left to weave, first determine where the yarn needs to be ran through and insert your needle first into that, very close to the place where your yarn is coming from your work. Now, thread the yarn into the already placed needle eye, pull on yarn so that it is not tight at the eye, giving the needle a chance to start feeding into your work with no resistance. The needle will weave in that small tail with ease.

Aren't the SB needles amazing? The hook thing was so WEIRD but a commenter made a good point that it might have been because it was a low end (CHEAP haha) hook and they aren't consistent with their sizing. Very possible but that's okay as long as I make sure to use the same one on a project. lol Thank you for watching and great to see you here. xx

I just found your channel and it has helped me greatly! Would like to add a tip I watched from @HollyAuna about using a tennis ball or makeup sponge as a way to make your hook handles more economic. I've tried using makeup sponges, the egg shaped ones, and they do help a lot with my wrist pain and are so much more comfortable to hold. Hope this helps others who may also be suffering from wrist pains. If anyone has tips on how to lessen arm and shoulder pain while marathon crocheting I would greatly appreciate if you could share them! Thanks!

Hi there 😊 I'm new to crochet, so apologies if this is a silly question, but what are the benefits of using a double magic ring versus a single? I think the double looks a lot easier to make. Is it simply an alternative, or does it have a specific use? Many thanks 🥰
@PlayHookywithMe
@PlayHookywithMe Жыл бұрын
Not a silly question… the double magic ring was the original version and it holds more securely than the single. The single is easier for most crocheters to do so that’s usually used more. So in short, yes, it’s just an alternative but has a stronger hold. 😀🙌🏻🧶

@@PlayHookywithMe I think in the past one of your videos had a hack for ending a granny square without a “bump” I seem to remember a slip stitch maybe to a back loop of stitch or skipping a loop. I’ve tried ending a granny square doing the above but it doesn’t look seamless
@PlayHookywithMe
@PlayHookywithMe Жыл бұрын
@@sbw-fe2hq ok yes - the second video I recommended should show you that. It might be that you are pulling it too tightly and turning it back into a slip stitch appearance which is an easy mistake with that technique. If I can remember more specific videos where I do this I’ll come back with a link .

It's possible that over 10 years of using the same hook that you've worn down the metal and made it thinner. But I think that the sixing between brands isn't always accurate. Use a caliper to check the diameter of the shaft for correct sizing.
@PlayHookywithMe
@PlayHookywithMe 11 ай бұрын
I did check the caliber and one was a 3.75 mm and the other was a 4mm although they were both advertised as a 3.75 mm. Really interesting .

I would recommend the Susan bates finishing needles - this will do it for you. they have a large size in the pack that will accommodate your tshirt yarn well. If you block all the squares before you join, wouldn’t that eliminate the need to add and detract stitches?

I just started crocheting and what I discovered is that usually the more expensive hooks from yarn/habby shops, have the shaft and the hooktip the same size, opposed to the cheaper ones that have a bigger hooktip than the shaft. The shaft dictates the size. When the tip is bigger it is a bit more difficult to pull through as the shaft dictates the size of the loop and now you pull a bigger tip through the loop.
