While frustratingly disagreeable, these videos are incredibly helpful and I really appreciate the time you put into walking through the logic behind your answers. I legitimately cannot believe you went 50 for 50. I think I'm prepared for the exam but I'll probably still watch the 150 Questions video just to see if you finally get one wrong lol

Q41 states that no further money can be spent, but we are adding more people, overtime or paying to expidite?
@davidmclachlanproject
@davidmclachlanproject Жыл бұрын
Schedule fast tracking is the answer for that one, and that is performing some activities in parallel (at the same time) instead of in sequence (no extra money required). Schedule crashing is adding money and resources 🙂

Regarding Q50, why on earth would you not take at least a quick look at the change control process before starting work on a significant scope change? Are we to assume there is no change control process in an agile project? Or is the question supposed to imply that the scope change is already approved? Your logic seems to be that we would want to review that change management plan but we would want to "do something else first," namely beginning work, and that makes no sense to me.
@davidmclachlanproject
@davidmclachlanproject Жыл бұрын
Great question. I guess this is the difference between a normal sequential project and an agile project. On an agile project, changes to "scope" (often shown as small, usable features) are most often controlled by the Product Owner. They don't need approval - they can reprioritize the feature list at any time. If we don't have a PO, the customer, Agile lead or PM could fill that role. I probably could have worded it better and included a PO in the question 🙂
@fabioloyola4788
@fabioloyola4788 8 ай бұрын
@@davidmclachlanproject - Agreed, I think to add the PO would help. Although my concern about this question is that the "project will not deliver the aligned/initial benefits". This means I felt the need to see an answer that before an action has been taken, the stakeholders would become aware of the new scope and new benefits. I didn't feel right the team starts working in the new backlog without alignment with stakeholders (there is no indication that the PO or the PM got this direction/approval from the stakeholders to do something after the realisation of the "significant change in the scope"). I am not saying a rigid CCB but I don't think is right to start changing a lot the product backlog, without meeting stakeholders to review Agile Project Charter, Project and Product vision/objectives, release plan, product roadmap, benefits expectation and then agree a new series of iterations (if need to change them too). Thanks.

I am a bit confused at the answer to the last question as I thought it was only the product owner that can prioritize the backlog.

For Q46 - Since the Project Manager is still in the Planning stage I think the answer to this question can't be D as this talks about "Acquiring Project resources " which actually falls under execution phase!! can someone check and comment on this?

I had exactly the same doubts. Also before selecting the small team, I truly believe that the PM has to be aware of the required resources and this is possible only after having finalized the Resource Management Plan. Any expert can give us his opinion?

Sir, Please help me. I want to write the PMP exam fear is not my friend. How can I contact you? Too many persons I know fail the it on their first attempt this has caused me to develop a learning block. Instead of concentrating on learning the material I am worried about failing….the humiliation part is affecting me greatly

You can do this. I know you can do this. I am a C student - a failure for many years in most cases, and yet with persistence and dedication I managed to pass the PMP exam, and others. That means you can do it too. It will take hard work, and you have to put in the time every day. Review my 200 Agile Questions video and the 150 PMBOK 7 questions video, or take as many practice exams as you can. One secret I used was "NET" time - "No Extra Time" - where I would study by watching videos or listening to them (often on Udemy or KZbin) while doing something else, like taking the train to work, cooking dinner or exercising. If you don't have time, do two things at once. Keep going. I believe in you!

Thanks for responding and the words of encouragement. Gona push even harder now

Question 45: Unclear wording. If the project is having a “current progress” review it has already started with an approved scope. If a need for a substantial change (for a “critical piece”) is then noted by the sponsor, the scope must be changed. The CCB must approve this. Management reserves are for unforeseen changes. Why would contingency reserves not be used?
@scottmoorby3176
@scottmoorby3176 Жыл бұрын
David explains that the sponsor is part of CCB and can be assumed to be approving on their behalf. Contingency reserves are for risks that are foreseen at the outset of the project. There was no money specifically set aside for this issue at the outset of the project, since it was suddenly discovered later in the project, so management reserves are applicable here.
@scottmoorby3176
@scottmoorby3176 Жыл бұрын
But also, yes, many of these questions are frustratingly unclear in their wording and many of the answers require certain assumptions that cannot be explicitly determined from the questions. If I fail the exam because of some BS like that I'm gonna lose it.

I don't see how the answer to Q44 satisfies the business analysts in any way.
@davidmclachlanproject

For that one, it's more the difference between planning for an agile project, and planning for a predictive/sequential project. The key difference is we won't do it all at once, we'll use "Rolling wave planning" and break down & estimate the nearest scope first, then do that continuously as the project goes on.
