Shrubs are my passion so I really enjoy you presenting so many of them to us. My need is for shrubs that are good for partial to deeper shade, and it is great to see you present these also. Thanks again for such good information.

Great video. Looking to replace the builder grade privets with something nicer and less disease prone. What would you recommend behind Loropetalums along the front porch in zone 8 that provide a good contrast?

Great selection! Desperately need to replant shrubs as we lost many to drought. Love the white flower laurapetalum.

It would be helpful if you would include light requirement when you describe each shrub.

I'm curious Jim if Ricurvifolium privet can be kept to 3-4 feet easily. The ones I have bought recently can reach 8 feet.

Suggestions for a "tall" plant for a house corner? (Tennessee)
@lifeisgood0702 жыл бұрын
Dee runk boxwood - I haven’t planted them yet but I just bought some Oakland holly (gets much bigger) A lot of people in Tennessee use arborvitae’s but I usually have to rip them out because they plant them about 6 inches away from their foundation… plz dont do that. At least do 3 feet away. Also deer eat arborvitae. There is a dwarf version of the Thuja green giant but they get very big at the base like more than 6 feet. Called baby thuja or tiny tower thuja

One more maybe blue point juniper or Wichita Juniper. Dont you euonymus or Elaeagnus. Not a fan of those. Enonymus gets a fungus without wind (which will be blocked by the house). And EliAgness turns Woody in the winter and drops its leaves

I love distylium but I'm gonna have to say not really evergreen for zone 7 at least not in East TN...had our for 3 yrs now and every winter they crisp up bad and take forever to green back up. This last arctic blast in December may have killed them....

My Kaleidoscope Abelias are looking really weak. How can I get them to look full like the one you showed? They are in full sun. NE Ga.

What would you suggest putting behind miss lemon as a foundation plant? Holly?
@JimPutnam5 жыл бұрын
I like the combo of miss lemon and baby Gem boxwoods. If you can't find baby Gem, wintergreen would work.
@JimPutnam5 жыл бұрын
Inkberry Hollies are native to the east and they would work as well
