I was told by 2 strangers that I had never met before that my wife cheated on me. I did not get a name of the man, but both strangers who were also strangers to each other had stated that my wife was close with a man, in the same location, (an apartments complex around the corner about 1 block from my house) The strangers who told me had told me about a year apart. What bothers me the most as the betrayer is that it seems that some therapists give the betrayed a carte blanche to shame and gas light the betrayer. If the betrayed is still angry after 5 months, they need to suggest options for them. I was pushed away and not allowed to have a support system, whether it was my best friend or close friends. I was made to live in a box and when I told my ex that I am being pushed away, I was called a sensitive p***y! You can't force the betrayer to push their feelings aside through the recovery process, it will not make them want to fix the relationship. I understand being unfaithful was wrong, however why is it no one looks at some of the things that may have happened in the marriage that contributed to me taking this action in the first place. I was hurt by things my husband had done including ridicule, abandonment, psychological abuse. Why is it ok for him to be even more abusive after he found out, “even though it’s just a reaction to what I did. Me having an affair was “just” a reaction to all the things he did up to this point in our marriage. Since when is abuse considered to be not as big of a deal as having an affair.
