Lopunny is actually my favorite Normal type pokemon. Even more now that it has that awesome mega evolution. I can't help but wonder what was up with giving Mega Lopunny that leg fur that looks like torn pantyhose, but other than that, I never really got all the controversy over Lopunny. I guess I'm just one of the few people who knows how to NOT be a pervert.

The reality is that episode was never banned in the United States, Cartoon Network never actually removed it from the episode cycle throughout 2002 & 2003 when all they showed were Gen1 episodes. Tower of Terror would be skipped occasionally for no real reason though.

I never understood why people criticise sexualised designs. Or should I say, criticise sexualised feminine designs. Lopunny is too 'sexualised' but let's forget Machoke and Machamp which are sexuliased masculine designs. The double standard is strong with this one (jk not targetted at Bulba or Truegreen lol). Frankly I don't have an issue with sexualised designs either way, I have an issue with people who demonise the human body as if it's something that should be covered up and shamed. I have seen feminist pokemon gamers such as Tamashii complain about Lopunny being overly feminine and therefore sexualized as well but haven't seen anyone complain about those overly masculine pokemon such as Machamp... In many cases (not Pokemon to my knowledge), things are considered controversial because most people are too stuck-up to be able to take a joke.

Yeah, I don't think they are racist either. Seriously, how can someone think Jynx is supposed to be a blackface with that giant blond/whitish hair? What black person has hair like that? And the other thing is, that black people aren't actually black, well they don't look black to me. Without wanting to be racist, to me theyre skin looks brown. I never got the skincolor names: white, black, yellow? Wth? I'm "white", but I don't see how my skin is supposed to be white.I don't even know, what color it is. That gave me a lot of problems as a child, when I drew people. Sometimes I used pink, sometimes yellow, but it never looked like the actual skin color. Than later I found some colored pencils, that at least resembled the skin color used in cartoons. Well whatever, I guess :/

Blue popo looks kind of like a jenie, actually... It suits his arabic clothing design. Bit of a different shade would have been nice though, perhaps? The purple compliments Jynx's red dress a lot more nicely than the black did, as well! You're right though. When these people act so hastily in regards to any 'correct'ness I can't help but think they're being hypocritical and protecting their own hide.

I've heard that Jynx does not actually have anything to do with blackface or fashion trends in Japan, but is based on a Japanese mythical creature with golden-white hair that enjoys dancing and alcohol. Proof for that would be that almost every Pokédex entry about Jynx says something about dancing.

When I was younger, I had pokemon Diamond. One of my favourite pokemon was Lopunny. I had bad eyesight and the DS screen is small. I thought Lopunnys hands were feet, and Lopunny was a tiny little bunny, standing on a fake body, to look tough.

things are not explicity racist unless intended to be so, once it is said not to be everyone should be appeased - then it is only those that insist on associating these things as racist that are racist. if you insist that they may be lying they have atleast said the opposite, which means more than the unspoken word. by that they have compromised their integrity due to popular demand and thus it doesn't mean anything else but what they have said.

Black & White children alike would never have seen it as offensive because the only blackface they would have known would have been the awesome character known as Mr. Popo. Blackface only has a bad reputation because of the racist depictions it had in old cartoons, although well developed nonracist characters can resemble the style some. Some could argue it far more racist to just get rid of all darkskinned characters that could be mistaken for blackface regardless of how well developed they are.

not quite. japan as a whole doesn't understand the impact of blackface and i think it's safe to say that many people there don't actually know that it happened. so the main difference between ganguro and blackface (besides obvious aesthetic differences) is the intent. blackface is meant to mock and dehumanize black people while ganguro is meant to celebrate the culture. that said most of what Japanese people know about black culture comes entirely from American media. it's more than a bit misguided and would definitely be very suspect had it been made in america but at least it's not trying to be harmful

There is so much incorrect info on this video, Tentacool & Tentacruel never had a 5 year ban on it. It would always play in the episode cycles on Cartoon Network throughout 2002 & 2003 both morning & evening. Tower of Terror would often get skipped for no reason though. The controversy of the episode is over how it was still shown after September 11, 2001, despite its content bringing up bad memories of the terrorist attack in thousands of children. As for your DBZ Kai info it's also completely wrong Blue Popo was 4kids exclusive, Nicktoons never made Popo Blue, same for the Uncut DVD Version that showed on Toonami. Fact Check ok. Interestingly an episode got banned in more recent years for having Jynx in it "Stage Fight" from Season 2.

Actually Gangoro was a trend where girls would get their hair dyed blonde & tan deeply, because they thought it would make them stand out. It was considered a controversial act that the rebellious youth did for sex appeal. To be fair we actually have Ganguro Girls in the States, they think they need to tan & wear skimpy clothes for beauty for some strange reason many can't fathom. Naturally Ganguro girls never come close to the coloration of Jynx, although suppose 1 had an accident with tanning then needed to stay cold to stay alive?
