I grew up in western Terai of Nepal which is the plain region of Nepal.I have experiences of encountering snakes such as cobra and banded krait under the large stones near my house and even inside our house under the roof also .They were really scary because We found them everywhere in the summer and autumn.Since we didn't have any sort of snake catcher facilities and used to live in one storeyed houses, snakes were a real danger for us.I still remember my brave sister lighting fire to get rid of the snake from the house and rest of us were just too scared.During monsoon, the problem was even worse. In Australia, when I was just enjoying the outside view in a farm accomodation in Dareton New south wales, a snake nearly bit me.Thank god , I was aware of its movements nearby and it hid under the woods and I ran away. Then the farm owner shot it with a gun.It was a terrible experience for me..So I do not like living in these hot , tropical places where we encounter snakes more often..In Tasmania, I have not seen any snakes so far .

Depends where you are. I live in the middle of tiger and brown snake country and when they start breeding in the warmer months they are very active mobile and are seen all over town and pets are regularly bitten and some dont survive. Usually because the pet has tried to attack or catch the snake. Newcomers are regularly warned what to do and not to do. As in leave them alone and they'll leave you alone. Or call the snake catcher. Most people are bitten when theyre trying to kill or catch them. Having said all that as you say theyre not out to chase or kill you on purpose. You not likely to see them in the middle of a big city but just be aware and take precautions if youre sight seeing or camping in the bush. But chances are theyll hear you long before you see them and theyll get out of the way. And its been years since anyone died from snake bite.

A man has died after a kangaroo attacked him and then prevented paramedics from getting near enough to help. WA paramedics who raced to help the seriously injured man were forced to call police when the aggressive animal stopped them from getting near their patient. Police arrived and shot the animal
