Easy to work out, Savile was protected by some very powerful people, who may or may not have been prolific abusers themselves. He was certainly protected by members of the British government who found out about him and covered it up, plus the BBC who got him the job in a secure criminal psychiatric facility (Broadmoor Hospital), where some very sick individuals were staying, plus some very vulnerable, innocent patients were also staying. Many of the staff at Broadmoor know that Savile was a weirdo, had a personality disorder of some sort, which made him potentially dangerous. He was given the keys to the hospital, literally. How could that happen? How could a layman, a celebrity be making decisions on patients, how the hospital was run, and how staff were to behave? How could that of been allowed to go on? Unbelievable. The BBC and the British government have still failed to adequately explain themselves, and properly apologise to Savile's many victims. The BBC is a British institution, but with Savile, showed it was an evil institution where lives were very much a secondary issue.

Then again, you'd never know the truth really, they'd just cover it up, if something embarrassing came to light. In the end, ultimately, there was a lot of embarrassment for the family. Diana was a huge fan as well. If she was alive today, how would she react? Hopefully with absolute disgust and sadness for the victims. That was the brilliance of Savile though, he ingratiated himself with every level of power in the UK, that was his insurance, if he went down, he could take a lot with him.

I don't agree with Freddie Starr on this list as evil. Yes, contravertial comedian but a lot are. There is not enough evidence for or against the allegation dispite a judge's opinion it was true. Fact finding court is very different to criminal court. Compared to the others on the list Freddie was 'alleged' and others had charges despite the decades gap! There are a lot of people who go to there graves without the full opportunity to clear there name. His family was distroyed by this and he died a broken man with a tainted name but , guilty till proven otherwise I guess. Why isnt Gary Glitter on the list instead? He actually was evil !

Jimmy Savile and Gary Glitter were totally different to Rolf Harris. For a start there was actual evidence against them. Rolf Harris (if you actually bother to look into the details of the trial and the unprofessional way the police "investigated" his case) was convicted mainly after trial by media before his case came to court and his whole trial was clouded by the first case dealt with by the court, that he was accused of having molested an 8 year old. The other charges against him at his first trial were tainted by the accusations made by the woman who claimed to be 8 years old at the time. However, when the details of her accusations were investigated thoroughly by investigators acting for Rolf Harris at his subsequent trials, it was shown that the whole thing had been made up and consequently he was found not guilty of that charge. However, as he had already been convicted, it was too late to prevent the jury from perceiving him as being a paedophile. The other accusations for which he was convicted were also provably false or at the very least based on accounts that when looked at or scrutinised, could not have happened the way it was claimed. He was found not guilty of all other charges brought at his second and third trial after "victims" had brought stories to operation yew tree after responding to requests for "victims" to come forward having been told "you will be believed" with newspapers of a certain type boasting of potential compensation for victims being in the tens of thousands if not more. None of the cases on their own would have been enough to convict anyone. However, the fact that Operation Yewtree presented their "evidence" as if there had been a pattern was enough for the jury to decide, against real evidence, that he was guilty. There is a book out now by this investigation team (Rolf Harris. The Defence Team's Special investigator Reveals The Truth Behind The Trials by William Merritt) which quite clearly illustrates the shocking stitch up Rolf Harris was subject to. Anyone who genuinely thinks Rolf Harris was treated fairly should read this account and it will shock you to the core that someone could be convicted on the flimsiest of evidence. I think there is a suggestion that Rolf Harris may have been a bit tactile at times with people (not those who made accusations as most of them provably did not come in to contact with him or others whose account would have been witnessed by people if they had been true) as was the behaviour of people in the 70s and 80s, which doesn't condone that sort of thing but it was almost certainly not as sexually aggressive as was portrayed in court and certainly not paedophilia. As the book points out, the Metropolitan Police investigating these crimes were, at the time, involved with their own questionable practice of stamping new female recruits as an initiation ceremony where young police woman had their bare bottoms stamped with the station stamp while everyone else looked on! I know there will be people who take issue with what I have said, but I suggest you do a bit of research first and not just rely on what you are told by the tabloid media. As I said, Jimmy Savile and Gary Glitter were totally different cases, but unfortunately Rolf Harris was tarred with the same brush, as was nearly Cliff Richard, Paul Gambaccini, Jim Davidson, Freddie Starr etc. all of whose cases were dismissed or fund not guilty through a lack of evidence and believability of the complainants.

I was on a jury once the case was an uncle had tried touching his niece in a swimming pool the girl got out of the pool then got back in. The police were called the next day they did nothing because there was nothing to prove but it went to court. All other jury members SAID little girls don't lie so he was convicted to me my experience little girls lie if not more than men from my time in school and work they lie. Mybe some of these people think they can get money out of this.

@@Imagineering100 in Rolf Harris’ case there were no little girls, but adult women who had told no-one anything for 40 years until they caught wind of the fact that compensation may be available and that “they would be believed” . I have read the book and it is absolutely shocking that Rolf Harris was convicted without any genuine evidence at all. All accusations against him in the second and third trials were either proven to be false or inconsistent with time and venue and what independent witnesses remembered. One of the charges from the first trial regarding a “victim” who claimed she was eight when something happened was belatedly proven to be a liar who had never actually met Rolf Harris and the decision was reversed and he was found not guilty. Unfortunately in the first trial, this complainant’s case was dealt with first and duped the jury into assuming Rolf Harris had a taste for underage girls, The damage was done and I don’t think the jury considered the evidence at all but were swayed by the prosecution’s demonization of an innocent man. Rolf Harris may have been a bit tactile (he liked to give hugs to women and sometimes to children) but that does not justify what happened to him.

Anne Robinson gave a good performance as Watchdog host (a consumer justice show), she really gave it to all those criminals. It was odd then to see her leave that low paying show for a high paying show which earned her £50 million apparently. It get's really fun when you find out the Weakest Link format was stolen from a college student. Reminds me of Jimmy Saville, he would do charity to hide his abuses, looks like Anne bided her time on Watchdog to make herslef look good, before selling out to the Jimmy Saville fan club. Sickening really, the student the format was stolen from was nearly beaten to death and had his career ended through that violence. Robinson is a very nasty piece of work, one only has to listen to her, and what is more how about Cliff Richard, that the child buggering B.B.C managed to have him escape justice, with the help of the police, in that raid upon his house, that had it not been deliberately aired he would have faced court. Cliff used to hang around Chelsea barracks waiting for the young recruits to come out. When officers became aware of his sitting outside, time after time, they confronted him, and he never went back. There are many stories about this fiend.

I always thought that there was something weird and sinister about Savile so that when all his horrible deeds came to light I was not surprised. However it was a shock for me to discover the crimes of all those other prominent people particularly Rolf Harris. I used to love his TV programmes especially his Saturday night show featuring the dance group Young Generation.

I used to watch The Goodies, they impersonated him a lot, but to me it was like, who is this weird guy with the white hair and Captain Kangaroo haircut smoking a cigar, and that stupid yodelling like noise he would make? Apparently the assault was when he put his hand on her thigh. I was having a conversation with a woman years ago about the age of consent and was getting angry. I told that next time she had a group of friends at a party, give them all a pencil and paper and ask them to write down the age of the person they first had any sexual contact with, and their own age at the time, then get ready to find a whole new lot of friends.

The scary part is that I met Rolf Harris after a show at UEA (Univeristy of East Anglia) in 94/95, can't remember. He was about to go into a really crappy A reg mercedies that was rusty and falling apart. I was their for the birthday party of a friends brother and he just wanted to say hello to Harris. He was friendly, courteous and polite. He spent 15+ mins talking to us all about his life, how he did his shows, etc. You would never have known.

In fact didn't he get released shortly before passing away on humanitarian grounds because of ill health. It all seems to make a bit of an ass of the law if you ask me.
