It's crazy to think that in-game Arthas, Anub'arak and a few ghouls and nerubians defeated a forgotten one. Although I'm guessing in the lore there would be more Scourge forces.

Maybe it's a weaker one, or maybe he just wake up from it's slumber so his power is not fully awakened yet. Or maybe in-game they defeated it but in the lore they actually barely escape from it.

I doubt Hydras are related to the Old Gods since they exist as well in Draenor, where there wasn’t any direct influence from said entities. However, Aku’mai is.

I think the Sha are criminally underrated, and in my opinion are alot more terrifying than the void, because the Sha would just be there and normal people would go insane from doubt, fear, etc. and kill anything (or anyone) that moves. If the Sha expanded away from pandaria, they would be up there with the Scourge and the Burning Legion.

Speaking of hydras, the one in Throne of Thunder, with the whole area and how her heads raise from the watery deeps, plus the sound effects is so damn creepy, the area just creeps me out because of that boss. But i'd say the forgotten ones are indeed scary as all hell, especially the quest chain in Twilight Highlands where the thing literally slowly digests you.

That boss used to be wind serpent before it was capture by mogu and fleshbend into multiple head monstrosity, Blizzard would reuse that model for final boss of Black Fathomdeeps

At moment, they are sperate group from Azshara, their even Naga that whorship Neptulon and others join Legion by becoming fel green, Blizzard state that they are similar to humans as they choose any faction if they want to

I have so many questions... Can you do a history of the Old Ones starting at them first coming to Azeroth and building the Black Empire? I'm lost on the pre-history up until the Sundering which split the 4 old gods and their minions into zones as we saw them in-game.

They were Highborne. The majority were followers of Azshara who practices arcance. Highbornes are Night Elves but more of a Higher Society within the Glory Days of the Night Elf Empire.
