It's just the classroom number for the graphic design and character animation class at the California Institute of the Arts - many animators in many studios use that same easter egg. Copy rights last 50+ years and peterpan was made i think in the 80s to 90s. So no and even after that they can copy right it again and leave it in limbo so no one but them can use it. Disney owns their variation and or quotes they created for that movie so lets say you write a book and the most iconic line is " its pickle Riiiicccckkkkkkk" and the scene depicts a man turning himself into a pickle, and now lets say a big company reads your book tales that scene turns it into a scene from a tv show even though you copy righted your book and they copy that scene word for word! If they don't get your permission to do so and doesn't pay you, then thats copy right infringement and you could sue,

I kind of thought that mermaid at the beginning of "Shrek 2" looked like Ariel, but it would be a shock if it was her kissing Shrek on that beach. After all, Ariel's love interest was a human prince named Eric and Fairy Godmother said that ogres don't live happily ever after. Disney does not own fairytales. They tried to sue a company for using the name "Cinderella" in their doll-line and actually lost! Some things, like Cogsworth and Lumiere or Ariel, actually are Disney because of style and character, but Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Fiona singing, evil stepsister, and even the poison apple are all fairytales; not Disney related. Dream Works had all rights to them. In fact, in Shrek, Dream Works used the Grimm Brother version of Cinderella, as she was wearing gold shoes and a gold dress.

What's funny about the Disney stories (and Princesses such as Cinderella and Snow White) is that they weren't even Disney and aren't truly of Disney property. The looks and light heartedness of the stories are, but the actual names of the characters are not as they derive from old stories (most of them German) that were conjured up in the early 1800s if not earlier. Disney is just well known for their interpretations of the stories and only hold ownership of the style of their characters (not the actual name or stories themselves). In my opinion, the best known accurate/original versions of these stories are that of the Brother's Grimm, who wrote the stories (with one or two being changed as they were too grotesque even for them).
