It is definitely the most complicated and ambitious fight scene in all of Star Wars. It has over a dozen combatants and even when the numbers drop most of the time it is still two simultaneous 1 vs 3 fights, with long takes and the actors themselves doing the fighting. Overall its really impressive and the effort deserves respect. That being said there are a few mistakes, most notably one of the guards disappearing weapon when they grapple Rey. The mistakes are there but all in all to me it is a really solid scene.

The way I see it, different sabres emit different “gravity” or weight. Lucas said they are “heavy”, but that doesn’t mean they want to fall to the ground heavy. It means they’re creating their own gravity as a machine that emits plasma in a holographic structure that is spinning so fast, external gravitic forces only have a cursory affect on it. Enough so it doesn’t float away like a UFO, which in theory, or according to Bob Lazar, work in a similar way. But that’s an entirely different conversation. Think a large high speed electric drill. Holding it and waving it around when it's switched off ... Now turn it on and try it. Not all lightsabers would be created equally, or even be on the same settings for that matter. Different speeds and intensity for example. As for the fight choreography, some of it is brilliant! Daisy and Adam are phenomenal, as are the stuntmen. It’s the direction for the guards to hang back do exhibition moves that makes it bad. They should be incapacitated instead of waiting their turn. It's a fight.. it's chaotic, not Cirque Soleil 😂
@michaelchristy506Ай бұрын
Usually striking doesn’t make it realistic, which is what makes it good Also, this is both in canon and legends, but lightsabers do have a significant amount of weight, but those who use the force have it appear not as heavy to those who dont

look, I know there are a lot of empty moments if you lok for them, but to me. this is the third best saber fight in the franchise (at least live action) this fight is a rush of chaos in the best way. Plus this is the only time we've seen a fight of this scale, even acolyte which had like a dozen jedi vs one sith didn't do a fight on this scale. This is the only time we've gotten this many melee users in one fight with a two V eight (I don't know how many guards there are exactly so I could be wrong) and the fight is chaotic as opponents are switched and despite the moments of iffy combat it feels like Rey and Kylo are being pushed. It also should serve to shut up anyone who bitches about Rey beating Kylo as she has to struggle just with one guard while Kylo is soloing like five of them at the same time. It's just a blast to watch. Sure it could maybe use a bit more polishing but over all its a great fight and I don't care about some moments where a guard could kill Kylo or Rey, because star wars is filled with those moments. For gods sake, any fight with someone who has two sabers should be over in seconds because they have a second blade to use to just block and go for the kill at the same time but we don't complain about that for the prequals

This only reinforces my belief that Disney tries hard to top the duel on Mustafar, and falls short every single time. VFX wise, yeah it looks good, but when you pay attention to the choreography it's a total nightmare that they clearly tried to successfully do in one take. The only thing the Sequels did was touch up on George's previous works, and while the CGI in the prequels is showing it's age, it still holds up well today, and I barely see an improvement of the CGI from the Prequels to the Sequels. Star Wars always did two things. Firstly, push the boundaries of VFX, and secondly, tell a good story. Unless you've got computers spontaneously combusting like in the production of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, you're not pushing the boundaries of VFX, and we all know how the story portion has turned out under Disney...

He’s the only person who thinks that the revenge of the the Sith duel possesses any type of realism. because out of everyone, I’ve seen on the Internet talking about the dual, they all agree that it’s bad when it comes to accuracy

I disliked it and is one of the worst part of the movie for me. the colors are nice that's it. Everybody waiting its turn to do something like a dancing contest
@ΑνίκητοςΓιαννούδηςАй бұрын
Cool scenery and concept but ridiculous choreography and the guards act more like dancers than fighters.

You look at any movie fight scene closely you are going to see some flaws.
@BlizzardholocronАй бұрын
But they shouldn’t be flaws that can easily be fixed, half of the time, it’s impossible for them to not notice the mistakes and yet they somehow still keep them in

It was good and exciting until you see the stupidity... not sure they understand that it takes you out of the moment.
@mrmonster987Ай бұрын
It’s a visually good scene but it can’t compare to prequel and original trilogy fights

It's a cool fight.... but yeah it pises me off when guys are just standing around waiting to attack while the hero is engaging one or two others with his back to them.

People looking for realism in science fiction. Sure.

Pff. There is always that guy who fails to understand the suspension of disbelief in speculative fiction. The viewer suspends the disbelief in the fantastic elements, the viewer doesn't suspend the disbelief in basic competence of the most elite warriors in the galaxy. Fantastic elements doesn't make a fantasy movie bad, badly executed plot does.
