Most of Tomb Raider 1 was a puzzle game where you had to explore a 3D environment back when that was still new and cool enough to base a whole game around. The tank controls were so you could walk to a ledge, take one step back, and do a running jump at the very edge so you know you're always getting maximum distance. If you can't reach whatever you're jumping towards you know right away that's not the way you're supposed to go and you don't try it over and over thinking you didn't press jump at the right time. They might not have had thumbsticks on the PS1 controller when TR1 came out so maybe they had to use tank controls like they did in Resident Evil and Jumping Flash to let you move around a 3D space with just a D-pad.

Makes sense to me.

They didn't have analog controls until at least Tomb Raider 3, the alternative to tank controls was 4-way running like in Crash or Metal Gear Solid but those had to have levels that are designed this way. TR is great and a lot of people played it first time with Remasters and I love watching people streaming it.

I was a little concerned when Daggerfall was on the list, but you nailed it as a flawed masterpiece, and I second the idea of playing the Unity version as while Daggerfall was fun the wacky bugs were awesome at times, the fact that you could soft lock into fail conditions without realizing it did make it painful to play. Thankfully we do have the Unity version! Now go ahead and click subscribe oh reader of the comments.

Hopefully the 11th Hour ain't as bad as the 7th Guest.

Myst is the worst for me, i dont mind Adventure games, but you are on an island with nothing to see but Empty Huts and Scenery. you only ever hear Birds and Bugs but never see any, most of all you dont get much in the way of Music. so the sensory deprivation is at an all-time high to put it bluntly... and i cant say that i'm into that in Video Games any more than i'm into that in the bedroom. gimme Sam And Max, Day of the Tentacle, Blazing Dragons, Deponia, etc, just SOMETHING lively in a world that i want to explore.

Is it tougher to write content for bad games since you have to slog through unenjoyable material? Curiosity really. Great video and research as always.
@UltimateGamerCC2 ай бұрын
probably, OR could be easier in the same breath, just because you have so much you want to say about how bad it is. if anything i imagine that the hardest content to make is on games that are neither good or bad, but MID. that's where you have to nitpick for things that you dislike, but you have to admit the positives at the same time.

I always like hearing what games you suggest the avoided. I've got a mega geeky question for you. Can you suggest a low price PC to buy in 2024 I don't have much intense needs and will be programming games or anything like that. Just something simple to set up and use for email and word processing mostly. I might do a fancy or something like that might need them multicolon program to do that sort of thing. Let me know. I value your opinion very much. Got half a foot of snow here in Aurora Colorado. Or as we say pop pop Aurora bring your Kevlar vest and come visit sometime.

What's the price-point you're looking for? The Gigabyte K5 GC isn't bad, but it comes in at $799. You'll be able to do the bare minimums, but still game if you so choose to. Acer Aspire 3 might be another option if you don't want all the bells and whistles. It's around $420.

Not me trying to figure out whether or not this is the right place to promote that my band just released a full (and officially licensed) reinterpretation of the music from 7th Guest/11th Hour last week All self-promotion aside though, I totally understand why someone trying it for the first time 30ish years later might not fall in love with it like I did when I was five. Thank you for the PC suggestions. Have you ever used a raspberry pi as a computer? It runs on Linux and not in your as powerful as you would need for streaming. I was thinking about spending the $125 for raspberry pipe 400. It's a raspberry pi that has a keyboard and mouse in its package. It's not buff but I could play games with it and use it for basic email interactions with the five people that they've really come a long way with Linux stuff since I'm why I didn't have little vision. They have voice programs which I haven't used I'm sure there's some people out there I could consult for this. Unfortunately as far as tech help is concerned even though my insurance will cover me consulting with a tech specialist. They want $200 that I have to pay in full to consult me. My fiance and I are insisted living facility and as you've probably heard, they take all your money. Between the two of us we don't even have $300 a month in total! It's hard to live on that.
