In Guangdong there is a dessert made with soft tofu and if you add black sesame paste to it, you will be in heaven. In Cantonese: tau fu fa with black sesame. I had the chance to try it in Hong Kong.

Just watched it again and can't stop giggling wherever Aleese has that "hmm?" moment (like when Amy said "[Pizzahut] is a place where you could come on a date") LOL -- I do think that is a date-able restaurant in China. LOL For the Starbucks drinks, I'd give it 5/5 rabbits for their marketing--just look at the menu and the naming for the products, very creative and playful at the same time--so much so that it tricked Amy into buying 3 drinks (and spent a good 200 rmb there). But in terms of flavour... I have to rely on Amy and Aleese' verdicts on it...1/5 also becoz I don't think fruit flavour mixes well with coffee (unless done right). It's such a fun video and I can't wait to see more collabs between you two!👍

Aleese's food/drinks review is always much more precise and reliable 👍👍 Yes the famous chains like Pizza hut, kfc, etc.. always suit themselves in each Country local taste. Here in Indonesia we also have that hot dog crust, cheese crust, more pizza variants , side disehes and yea the pizza huts here are fancy as well. There are red sauce and chili sauce bottles on each table too

A one size coffee cost $5.50 plus 11.50% taxes at Flagships Starbucks’ in Chicago @ Michigan avenue . Just coffee, special drink or special coffee cost $12/$15 plus taxes, so is to say Starbucks is expensive in US too, unless you go for Dunkin’s donuts coffee still cost you average $3 plus taxes.

starbucks, pizza hut are like fancy places in China as the price is similar to those in western world (but the currency of rmb is not as strong as dollars). hence for most ordinary chinese with hard earned money, going to places like these can be quite costly (perhaps on special occasion). having said that, there are always ppl who easily afford these in china, hence on top of that, they may even charge more if they make it a "special theme". To me, I'd rather spend 200 rmb on local street food. but i know ur doing a fun topic for an experiment, its all good :)

That bamboo shoot chicken sandwich actually reminded me of one of my most frequent pandemic lockdown breakfasts (or late night snacks), which started out as an after-midnight improvisation and worked well enough that I kept making it. Namely, an over-easy egg on a slice of toast, topped with chili oil pickled bamboo shoots and a bit of oyster sauce. I think the chili oil bamboo shoots are more of a Taiwanese thing, different from suansun, but there are probably some similarities in flavor.

I've been to corporate chains in Asia. Some are slightly better that their usa counterparts (even like McDo in france is better than the states) but we are talking small incremental (epsilon small) gains. You should their whiskey flavored americano, it’s only available in Starbucks reserve. It’s a non-alcoholic drink but taste amazing:)
