The "square meat" burger at Burger King is 卤肉 burger (pork in dark soy sauce stew), it is tradtionally served with white rice in souhern Chinese cuisine. But at BK, it is placed on a bun with cheese. The pork is usually 3-layers (hence it's "flexible"), meaning there's a layer of skin, fat and lean meat.

Or just don’t have American Run fast food chain in local architecture at all. It kinda ruins the vibe. You’d be walking down a road and seeing all these architects expecting to see all Chinese local or Chinese food in general, then out of nowhere you see McDonald that taste just like typical American McDonald that you see everywhere in the US.

The Burger King pie "purple rice" 紫米 is supposed to be better than red bean 紅豆。But that is more like Southern Asian favor(?). The square meat looked like 東坡肉。Heard that Taiwan eats that in New Year, not sure about other cities in China. The fatty (pork) texture would be horrible for Burger. The McDonald's "preserved veggies meat" bun might be bad idea. The name 梅菜 was considered unlucky (for at least Cantonese speaker) because it sounded like "rotten". But this modern day people probably didn't care.
@KpopLover4Ever2 жыл бұрын
It definitely seemed like they tried to turn classic Chinese dishes (ie: 梅菜扣肉 and 东坡肉) into burgers lol. However I don't think the fault of the Burger King burger is because of the fattiness, since 刈包 is also a fatty pork and bun combination and those are amazing. The quality of the meat looked very suspicious (considering how Amy was bending it all the way back and it didn't even break apart, very elastic and rubber like).
@KpopLover4Ever2 жыл бұрын
@@thomaschin9896 Menu items are decided by corporate, not the franchise owners. Plus, I hope you realize even though those are American fast food brands, but when they enter a market overseas, they cater to the local demographic. They come up with menu items and flavors that differ from the American counterpart. So it is 100% normal for the corporate/headquarters in China to come up with menu items that aren't exactly American. In fact, it's always been that way. It isn't anything new. Also, these are Chinese New Year exclusive items. It wouldn't make sense for these items to be non Chinese influenced...

Almost all those holiday special food sounds weird even from the perspectives of a Chinese. Order food on those local special menus always comes like lottery drawing for me. Yes, but it doesn't look like a real pork knuckle. Looks like they tried to make a fake version by mixing different meats together, kind of like what McDonald's does for their "McRib" burger. I find both the McRib and Burger King's dish horrible.

That was great for a change that you made a video about something bad at the eat-outs. The reason this Burger King store is bad is because they didn't throw away expired food, say, chicken were only supposed to have a shelf-life of X-amount of hour, but to save cost or simply negligence, the person might have not thrown away expired food in time. I believe McDonald's staff management are more centralised and standardized by the "taste" of it. Our local Hungry Jack's used to be good, but now the whopper looks so unappetising because there's hardly anything other than the meat patty because they are really stingy to put other things, which makes the whooper looked thin.
