Episode 1 of the $10 P.K.B! Can $10 get you a good pocket knife? I'm looking to see just how far your $10 can get you in the pocket knife world. The blade that started this little adventure of mine is this little traditional slip joint branded as a Schrade. Who knows? This may be the epitome of a $10 pocket knife, or, there may be some better contenders out there. I've amassed quite the collection of sub $10 pocket knives and there's bound to be a good one in the bunch.
Here is an Amazon link for this knife amzn.to/3tnbnax

I ordered this days before seeing this vid, i am hard on knives and need cheap ones. A $10 walmart knife lasted a few months until crossing a starter relay on a tractor, half the large blade burnt into lol. Back in my days a Schrade was the bottom end of knives but now most knives are trash anyway sooo go for the cheapos.

The blades aren't actually bent. There's a lot of time spent in designing the blades to "nest" in the handle the way it does. The blades are purposely factory ground straight, left or right so it can accommodate room for all three and sometimes as many a 6 blades in a single knife. How the blades are designed to nest has no effect on how it will cut.

They needed to spend a bit more time on this one. Bent off center of a hinge is different than a sweeping curve so bad that it hits the next blade. I have other slip joints that do not show these same characteristics.

The drop test is very helpful. Always wonder if the handles may crack easily and stuff like that on an inexpensive knife. Overall nice test!

I acctually hammered the back springs under a towel to make it easier to open. Plus wrapped the blade and opened and closed it hundreds of times. But even with that abuse, I only put the tinest itty bitty crack that stopped at the brass bolster. No one would ever notice it and it wont continue because it was stopped. Decent knives. Just sometime hard as hell to open.

You said yourself that is not your preferred way to carry. Probably should be a five, because you also said that some guys prefer having it unnoticeable in thier pocket. I say five because it either works for you or it doesn't. Just a suggestion for future vids. But you are absolutely spot on about deployment! Haha. Need to fish around for a stockman in your pocket and then two Honda opening. Only faster way, would be a belt sheath, which we would then be back to comfort... You either like it or not... Haha Have a Merry Christmas and happy new year to everyone!

No where as good as my Red ryder green bone. I actually skinned and butcherd a huge boar without having to stop and sharpen. Unfortunately the back spring snapped in half after 7 years. But I put it through sever duty. The Imeperial I have is way bigger has imitation pearl resin, and seems solid enough I dont see why to spend money til it breaks. Or I see something I love better. Plus it was a gift. Thanks!
