Thank you so much for this video! Some informative & very important points. For UK viewers, your company needs to be registered with FENSA & you need a certificate from them & your installer needs to have registered the installation with the local council. It’s a legal requirement. Without the certificate, your insurance or mortgage may be null & void and you may not be able to sell your house without it so it’s very important.

Is double glazing still better than secondary glazing for sound proofing?

The biggest result is going to come from a system that is completely sealed. There are many other factors to consider as well. Overall, Yes I would say that double glazing is better for sound reduction compared to secondary glazing.

@@OknaluxSaintMarys Many thanks. I have been considering between the two. I know double glazing is way more expensive than secondary-glazing but if it’s worth it, i guess i should go for it(?). I 100% agree on sealing is as important if not more important than the type of glass.

Hi just wondering as i have a big ranch slider at home three fold, it does have a locking system on one end. Is it possible to install a dead lock latch by the top corner of the double glazed frame for just extra security?? As i have to drill two screws into the 2 inch outer frame. I am just worried if the screw holes will tamper with the gas in the double glazed door. Thanks

Hey Jude, thanks for reaching out. It's a little difficult to tell exactly without any photos. But yes you would definitely need to be mindful of screws in releasing gas out of the double glazed system. In saying that, please understand that the frame of the door does not have gas in it. Only the glass has gas in it. Both panes of glass are pressurized together, so when you remove the glass from the door, you remove both panes at the same time. Realistically if the glass is not damaged, then the gas should be fine. You are welcome to email us on [e-mail] if you need some more claification.

Hey thanks its got a black aluminum spacer with two rows of tiny holes between both the glass panes. If i drill through the corner of the door panel it will be at least 4cms behind the spacer. You think that should be fine. Thanks

@@jjjjude I would definitely reach out to the manufacturer, they should be able to give you some technical drawings and give you some guidance. Because the glass will still be hidden behind the frame of the door, so you need to be careful not the touch the glass. Hopefully, your supplier can help you with that.

This is an interesting question, it generally relates to a specific frame. As these questions don't answer the question of what frame to use. It wasn't specifically covered. However testing, auditing and Australian Standards is. This is where that question would play a part. Ultimately windows compliant to Australian Standards have been tested to Australian conditions and therefore should not fade or discolour. Hope that answers that question for you.
