I've been 6 boxing on my own server on and off for years... I allow myself one GM command, I set it up in a macro to #summon (name) of each party member to help with getting around. Playing one of my favorite teams now, war, clr, sha, rog, rng, and brd. But I'd recommend sha, clr, 4x mag for anyone newer to boxing that much at once. That team is easy beast mode, I've beaten all the way past Quarm with both these teams before. Very nostalgic, love it! Would recommend :)

I.E. Wife calls for me…. There is no death penalty on this server and as long as you’re out of combat, you can always click back to the Bazar. In the Bazar you can port all over Norrath and gain access to even more port locations as you come across them. It’s a strict 1 box server but it’s a multi-class server where you can play up to three classes in one toon and immediately have access to some of those classes AA’s. You also be given some good starting gear for those 3 classes you choose. I’m running a Paladin / Bard / Ranger. Loads of fun. Come check it out. ❤

There's also a flip side to the high difficulty as well. You can also enjoy an easier time and basically let loose a maniacal laugh as you destroy dragons and gods with two characters. EQ on a low population server makes for a legal place to toy with something like a bot or heavy macro tools, and go through the content without breaking the rules and hurting other people. Allowing you to enjoy setting up a few accounts and working on things like the Epic Quests and clearing achievements while you play on another computer. I love how there's so many different servers that encourage so many different play styles and allow you to really get into exploring how to play the game I've taken max level characters and just sat down in newbie areas and one time this yead actually was able to help somebody out. Unlike eq2 wherd you as a higher level person can't get loot and can't do several things

Not really something I see in modern games.
@computergamingyesterday17 күн бұрын
I think party dynamics in EverQuest is maybe the biggest thing modern MMOs have missed out on. I suppose that is by design because it wasn't very intuitive, but today's tank-and-spank is just not as exciting and also puts too much pressure on tanks and healers.

I played EQ back in 1999 when I was 15. I played a gnome necro and leveled up killing skeletons by the dinosaur bones outside Ak'anon. I didn't realize at the time but this killed my faction standing with the gnome necro guild hall. I couldn't train abilities because I was kill-on-sight by the class trainer. I decided to try to get to Neriak so I could train at dark elf necro class hall. I got to nektulos forest but couldn't see anything because gnomes can't see in the dark. Think I tried to just follow the road and accidentally wandered into a druid camp and they killed me and my naked body popped at Steamfont mountains. That's when I quit the game lol.

The "11th" reason is *always*: It is the FIRST 3d, 1st person MMO ever made. It's a living artifact. It is the "Super Mario Bros" of MMOs and you can still go discover why every game that came after it used EverQuest as it's foundation/framework. In a way, EverQuest, and more specifically the Project1999 server, is a living museum of the first true modern MMO. To be able to play it still, 25 years later, in its pure original form on p99 is a blessing for video game nerds. Just be warned, even though its 25 years old, it'll still suck you in and you'll be forever addicted to it like a bad ex girlfriend.

I preferred the free-skill MMOs like Meridian 59, Ultima Online, Asheron's Call etc purely from a mechanics standpoint - but WoW is what stole me away from every other MMO for a solid span of years. First time wandering Elwyn (spelling?) @VRIceblastАй бұрын
There is pretty much no video made of EQ that makes combat look good, even though, EQ has one of the best combat mechanics in MMO's. Combat always looks so boring in a video, but not when your playing the characters yourself. Then combat is so much faster. There is just so much going on. EQ is pretty loose for grouping, when it combats to combat in the lower level, below say, level 60, but once you hit 60+, EQ shifts, and fighting as a group becomes really important. Needing a Tank, Healer, and Crowd Control becomes extremely important, almost to the point that if you don't have these key classes in your group, that it's really going to be hard to fight mobs, because the mobs are just that much more powerful, and will kill you quickly if you don't slow them, don't have a tank, or healer. Lacking any one of those classes, really reduces the odds of you surviving. There is nothing better than a group of players that know how to fight the mobs in EQ. You get into a good group, and you don't ever want to log off. I've had too many groups, where I played 16+ hours, and was just having the time of my life. We would have players fall asleep playing. You can tell because their character would stop moving, and they stopped responding in chat. We would either keep them in the group, and just protected their character, and they would usually wake up, and start moving in 15 to 30 mins, and if not, we would remove them from the group, and but still protect their character. A friend and I use to play together. I had 2 computers in a network, which both computer shared a single 36k Baud Modem, and EQ ran just fine with so little bandwidth, which is freaking amazing really. I was pretty addicted to the game back then, I even changed the tire on my car, while playing. :) I also only played EQ while at work. Customers sometime had to wait for me to kill a Named mob, if they came in at the wrong time. My group had to wait sometimes while I had to wait on customers. It was a small grocery store, like a quick stop really. So, most customers where in and out in 60 seconds. I use to multi-box, I literally used 3 computers, keyboards, and mice. I was a Shadow Knight, Cleric, and Enchanter. I use to have a waiting list of players that wanted to join my group if I had a open space available. If there were no players available, I would just loaded up my mercenaries, and have a full group, but I would always welcome any players that wanted to join my group, and just shutdown a mercenary. EQ is the best MMO ever made. If it had a Modern day graphics engine, it would be the biggest game. It would be cool, if A.I. got good enough, that you could feed the source code into one, and it would recode the game for say Unreal or something like that.

I played EQ day one hour one! The thing that destroyed the game over time as it does all MMO is the catering to whinners who want the Monty Hall treasures given to them with no effort and the want to kill the big bad guy with a single hit so they can feel powerful (they can't stand to lose and will do anything not to lie, cheat and whine). It took about a month in EQ for the whinners to start and has never stopped since then in any game that comes out. I often wonder why some people play the game, they want max level at the start of the game with max gear, with all titles and abilities so, what are they playing for if they are given everything?

Why I quit: I played for 24 years and had lifetime account. But the Bots got too bad, so I petitioned . 12-36 player Bots camped all the popular spots and preventing our huge raid. When I submitted a complaint they banned my lifetime account (not the bots). That's crazy... so chargedback $780 and quit. For other players who are fed up with the bots and the horrible GM rule enforcement, make sure to chargeback as much as you can ASAP because you can only go back so far... but be aware its a one way trip (whatever company owns Everquest won't let you back without paying). Lol at thinking EQ was ever the GOAT mmorpg. That's rich, you must be a senior citizen thinking like that

This may have been the game to play 25 years ago.. but it did not age well at all.. and all I could see EverQuest giving players and myself is nostalgia.. there is no such thing as a good MMO in 2025.. unless the Dev's were to remaster it I don't see myself coming back to ever play EverQuest again.. it's clunky, bad UI placements, and awful graphics.. I guess some players seem to like playing these old polygonish games.. but for someone that's been playing for 35+ years for myself these types of games was good for it's time.. not 25+ years later..

i have a better idea. go p;laY PANTHEON RISE OF THE FALLEN you will get the same or BETTER experience with a living player base ,Pantheon was started by original everquest dev Brad Mcquade . everquest is a shadow of its old self, help Pantheon thrive and stop feeding the idiot company that killed all their projects with stupid decisions and greed

It really isnt great, rose tinted goggles these old mmo nerds have on, i picked it up and played. Everyone metagaming in these old ass mmos looking for perfect builds etc, modern gaming has infected these old games gameplay and most of the people on these servers are so used to playing alone they multibox accounts to essentaily masturbate with their own nostalgia and pretend they have friends. The stats in this game do not even do anything yet the whole point of this game is to chase end game gear with minimal effect, the main thing that changes the gameplay is your level so you are constantly just grinding to get to endgame and expect to take 3 months if you are playing on any of the classic servers. If you want to experience this masterpiece in 2024 just start up your own server, give yourself the best gear, and run around each dungeon and kill everything, any sense of community or what actually made these games is dead and died long ago and if you play on the servers you will see it right away, everyone is expected to get on discord or be a part of some larger community and wholly expect to communicate on chat if you intend to do any kind of endgame because if you think these guys also simulate the chat spam of the old days think again. Old school gaming died long, the playing field is polluted with mods and tools that automate or negate entire mechanics of the game, there is also no cheat detection so lengthy investigations from gms needs to occur before anyone actually gets banned. IDK ive seen a lot of these vids pop up recently and its definitely weak nostalgia bait.
