While I don't personally agree with the EV push happening in America right now, the fact remains that humans are responsible for major shifts in our climate. It is my opinion that other technologies beyond vehicles charged off America's grid need to be explored and implemented both now and into the future. Please feel free to express your own opinion below.

What science are you basing your beliefs on? I'm proud to be a skeptic; it prevents me from being ripped off. If you're talking about the deforestation of the Amazon and Southeast Asia, I agree with you. Brazil was told to not do that over 40 years ago and they ignored the scientific community. There are two charts that are easily found on Google. One is the average atmospheric temperature since 1900. The second is the strength of the Earth's magnetic field. The temperature is rising and the field strength is decreasing. Why is that important? The magnetic field prevents the solar wind from interacting with the atmosphere. As it decreases in strength it allows energetic solar radiation to penetrate deeper into the atmosphere, heating it up. Don't take it from me; look it up yourself. Be a skeptic. Geologists know that the "climate" is always changing. Hot one millennium; ice age the next. They also know that during periods of "high" atmospheric CO2 life flourishes, and during periods of "low" CO2 the planet endures ice ages.

@@blaydCASince this "religion" started nearly 20 years ago one thing that has remained constant is that you people pick and choose whatever fits your belief scheme. Since most of the "research" was found to have been created by people who hate fossil fuels you cite oil company "research" because you agree with it. I prefer to do my own research, I have, and I have posted the results here. Just keep drinking the Kool-Aid, and watch as the BRIC countries thrive while the West deindustrializes itself.

Not to mention fire hazard in small spaces such as parking garages; a handful of them in Florida has banned EVs due to battery fires that will spread from vehicle to vehicle. Since there is no good way of extinguishing lithium fires, all the vehicles will burn down within the vicinity of the EV.

Speaking of weight and EVs, EV could have made sense for very light, small city cars. They would have been cheap, convenient, easy to charge and lower noise levels in cities. But obviously it isn't the route manufacturers chose, instead they decided to go all in on the SUV trends, that's how we ended up with frigate-class vehicules polluting so much on manufacturing and wasting so much energy.
@X85283
@X85283 3 ай бұрын
When it comes to weight, something I didn’t hear you mention is the damage that causes to roads. The vast majority of our roads were not designed with the idea of 6000-9000lb vehicles being so common. And at least everywhere I’ve been, the roads are already tore up, it’s only going to get worse.

I agree with everyone here and I’d like to add one of the greenest things you can do is rebuilding your engine and/or vehicle and keep putting it to work for example I have a 1966 F100 that I’m currently working on it’s 57 years old and on the history report it said it ran about 710,000 miles and I stripped down the engine but paid to have it rebuilt from a 352 5.8 L V8 and bored it into a 390 6.4L and now I’ve moved on to stripping down the cab, bed, electrical harness, etc etc so I can sandblast the crap out my frame till it’s down to bare metal so I can spray self etching primer then line X or rhino liner or whatever is the toughest liner then a coat of pb blaster I’m on the frame right now but gonna do the entire undercarriage under the bed everything so I can rest easy knowing the undercarriage is rust free and of course I’m gonna restore the outside and inside as well but my point is that’s problably more of a green thing to do than buying an e.v just for the simple fact that e.vs and most new vehicles have planned obcelesence and warranties that expire right before the lifespan of major components and I know an e.v’s 10 year battery problem isn’t planned that’s just how most batteries are but it gets to a point where the culture deems it more worth it to just lease or buy a new car everytime the old one breaks down because with the insane prices to fix this kinda stuff now days it does make sense to just throw it in the guttah and go buy anotha but that’s because companies sort of force us to do that nowadays another example is Coca-Cola or any company not really doing the reusable glass bottle thing anymore because plastic is just so cheap and readily available to mass produce even a lot of new cars are mostly plastic so that brings up another point, when your rebuilding a classic vehicle the amount of material you “waste” replacing old rusty worn out parts with new ones is very small compared to the new car planned obcelesence and it’s less of a problem to dispose of because they were mostly made of metal and rubbers etc. instead of these plastic riddled pos cars we have now and you can sometimes repurpose those old metals or scrap em something productive instead of a majority of it ending up in the ocean in the streets etc. so we live in a fast paced throw-away culture like food and drink packaging etc. which migrates into car culture making it a throw away culture now as well so that’s why we’re so screwed in that regard, people don’t want to use their heads or their hands anymore and rebuild still useful once given some love items they’d rather toss it and start over so that’s another problem with e.v’s and it’s not just with them but they’re a big part of it because I’d bet even new pos cars would last at least a little longer than e.v’s

If you really think about the fact that EV’s: Burn through tires faster (micro plastic pollution) Only roughly on the road for 10 years before a battery totals them out so then they go to waste. The initial pollution to produce. The fact most the energy to power them still comes from fossil fuels and will continue to. And many other variables I would say AN ev in the long run will be worse for the earth than a traditional ice car. It’s one thing to look at what the car itself does while being used, but it’s a whole different story to look at beginning to end of each vehicle

Yes. Mining is crucial to manufacture batteries. Obviously that activities will create a lot of environmental damages. But you also have to remind of yourself that producing gasoline also requires almost the same level of pollutions. ( oils rig -> shipping -> refinery facility -> shipping -> consumers). Also gasoline engines only harness 30 percent of efficiency. The other 70% of energies will be wasted. But EVs’ electric motors achieve 100 percent efficiency. There is no energy loss. Also you need to service your engine and replace the engine oils every 12,000miles. It is a fact that EVs are more environmentally friendly. I believe that you do not want to fight with the a scientific fact. It is your personal choice whether you go for EVs or stay with gasoline powered engines. Still, do not distort the fact.

Most smart phones are JUST AS EXPENSIVE pound for pound to purchase as an EV, with the same damn battery issues. Consumers can't even replace the battery anymore as a plug and play item. There are many more facts that support my position and there are also facts that support EVs. I will be the first to say that the Rivian Amazon trucks make sense. You also need to recognize that I specifically stated "right now", and that position is 100% factually true. At the end of the day, it is my opinion that EVs will ALSO not be the answer to America's long term need to transition to a better technology other than fossil fuels (but that is opinion based on projection and my belief in Hydrogen). Regardless, I appreciate your comments and for always watching and commenting on my channel. @@blaydCA When I was deployed in Germany I did see them in some instances. The advantage Europe has is that they travel small distances. When in Paris, Amsterdam, etc., it is so simple to see why an EV makes sense for those particular parts of the world, especially given their weather patterns and geological stability allow for the use nuclear power, albeit some European countries refuse to adopt that (such as Germany). The difference in the US is the vast distances and how we live. I need a vehicle that can tow another truck hundreds of miles or more with only brief stops. That is my gripe with this whole deal. There is more with the 18 wheeler transition to EVs that clearly makes it illogical for broad adoption in the US, but I digress at this point. Thre are some errors in your reasonand logic, ealeri I worte a lengthy thing, but I am goingt o sum it up. time changes things you can never assuems soemthing that costs today will be the same costs with in the future. the US is reaching 5 percent tipping point, once 5 perecnttipping point is reached a facinating thing occurs.rembmer what I stated abotthe horse and cart, well when the auto first cme out, they were epensive, then the got cheaper to build, aftter 10 years we went from horse and carrige to the first electric car then to fossile fuel.. that was in a 10 year span after 5 percent. now the USA and uastrailia are lagging behind. but we ar reaching tht 5 percent change, the S curve. so in time, Evs will becoe flying transport vehicles tht will take over. in the futures future people will be fying as sophisticated computers take over an newer technologies re created. Your ford truck, will become very expensive as plants convert to electric. in turth all this that you spoke on is a repeat of the hhorse and cart vrs car. in turth, tehcnologies change and are adopted, nothing lasts or ever, not even the power grid as we know it to day, it will radically change as we remove dams and have removed all but one coal power plant herein Washington state, we have now battery powered gnerators that you can run inside you huse ranging from a few hours to nearly a week on battery alone. these will replace generators and get cheaper..you see ICE engine bans include, mowers , motor bikes, cars, trucks, motor homes , busses tracotrs that pull the trucks, weed wackers, hedge trimmers chainsaws, leaf blowers. and what better way to enforce a ban by makinggas 8 10, 0r even 15 dolars a gallon to drive a point. in 10 years time your truck will be worthless. what factorieswill b repodcing your parts you need after they all been converted to electric and have terminated shops that build pistons. Look i am not trying to make anyone angry, but we lieve in a changing world, technologies change, things change, I have no preference,ICE is not my god, it is not my political ideology, it is not who Iam a s a person, nor is EV, I am a human, i u nderstand change. and I know how your car parts can be regualted to the point where they will be as expensive as a luxery. the roles will reverse ad batteriy price is coming down. you can not state todays prices as to what they will be in 10 years time. but, we need people like you in every industrial revolutions there have been the neigh sayers, the sabatours those that hang on to older technogoies to thier end. my S24 Ultra for example, it is a computer. far more powerfull than my 2 year old laptop. with supirior cameras and even a desktop enviroment. this is how fast technology is changing. when a electronic device is a computer a phone and a camera ll in one. that is what change i all about. so, your truck is the equivinet to a galaxy note 10. it still works and runs, but it is limmited in what it will have availiable for update wise, and like my galaxy note 10, it willhave its parts ceased to be made, ceased to be manufactured, while in tie my galaxy s-34 ultra will be replaced by a more powerfull device and the s24 ultra will become... well.. a devie that can and will still be uefull.but it in time will not be gtting updates. it will become worthless over time. new bands will ocme along and older bans will be removed. jsut like the removal of 3g and the introduction to 5g. ah people bellyached and complained, but 3g is now gone. that will happen to your truck. Iam 54 years old, I have seen 8 tracks and record playsers give way to cd players, give way to iPod (mp3 players), to video games being hed in hands to phones doing it all. 54 years... i have witnessed changes . they even had video recording devices that allowed us to record movies and shows, now its copywrite infringemnt. noticed how i skipped the cassete? miniversion of a reel to reel. I know technologies, i know whatis coming. imagine the changes an 80 yearld person has seen over thier life.in cars, trucks, and technologies..the truth is nothing stays the same on this planet. you think the guy that invented the wheel wasn't teased? or how about wind turnbines that ground flour? smae thing now makes power. although they the wind turbines should b built like the dutch style wind mills Ithink they would do better. a day may come when we power our own houses with out a grid. some are doing it right now. truth be told. your truck is going extinct. your truck, has a time limit . the clock stops for no man . words canot stop change. look at all the industrial revolutions. If you know what they are. then you know changes occur rather people want it or not. I embrace change, I do nto get over being upset at some silly change. I know what is coming, I know of the black outs, the floods that will estroy ICE cars and a great deal more. cars , trucks, planes trains, nothing remains the same. nothing.a car is a thing. it does not know politics, it does not know anything..unless it is a smart car. there are even republicans that drive electric cars. lol. trump never stopped the shut down of the coal power plants, never reversed the shutting down f the coal power plant in cnetrailia washington. why..contracts...contracts signed years ago. your contract on gas engines has an ending date , it is being terminated. the grid will change..but what will cause that change..a massive blackout. a reset is here. the reset button hasbeen pressed. it takes time to restart restart, it takes time for new software to reboot. ICe enines are bugs withn the software that will be correceted and eliminated, or it will become a luxery program. I wish you well, an i hope that your faily is safe from the flooding tht is occuring. either we as man will remove dams, or nature will do it for us. jsut like the ICE coming to an end, so are the things we call dams, they are hundreds years of age, they are becoming dangerouse, i could care less about the fish..but dams either must be removed, or we must witness catastropic failures. dams are not nor where they ever ment to be forever. just licke ICe cars. were never ment to be forever.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnWcopxvZcqGl5o What about converting current engine into genset power plant for electric axles with a small battery pack to even out RPM's. Series hybrid, very similar to a train. Get better fuel efficiency, ridiculous levels of torque, steady load on older engine for longer life, and have a power out to charge EV's / Jobsite / house.

I like what Edison is doing, but its a misconception that it is like a diesel electric train. A DE train has a diesel engine that powers essentially a giant alternator that powers the motor. The edison design is just a diesel generator to recharge batteries. The batteries on a diesel electric train are only there to start the diesel engine and then power the train's electrical systems, but not the drive motors. So really at the end of the day, you are just burning diesel fuel on the vehicle to generate electricity that is then stored and later expelled to motors. Is this better than plugging into an outlet? Yes, I would say so. Would I rather have this over a Ford EV F150? Absolutely.

They in fact DO make diesel/electric/battery hybrid locomotives. It's not cost effective for the majority of the USA long distance rail lines.

@@blaydCA The vast majority are as stated above and have been since the Big Boy and like locos were phased out in the late 50s/early 60s.
