This video is truthful and valuable. I got my first corgi unaware of this information. I had no tolerance for shed or barking. A girlfriend talked me into it. About 24 hours in, I completely rationalized that the negatives “were not so bad”. Then the transformation of my 3 kids and family dynamic forever changed in the best of ways!! The positive outweighs the negative 100 to one ❤️❤️❤️

#10 is so real. There was never a time when we go out and people wouldnt come up to say hi, pet him, and even chat. Some friends would even visit from another country with the primary purpose of meeting him. Mind blowing.

These are awesome points 😉 As a fellow corgi owner, 100% agree you have to be committed before you get one! The fun policing was hilarious because mine isn’t just limited to dogs! She always barks and chases us around when we play badminton or ping pong or anything noisy board games 🤣

I was asked to rescue a corgi from a seriously neglectful situation. My mind was blown first by the fact that he was so overweight. The shedding was mind blowing. Everything in this video is true. I am a very happy foster failing owner now of this corgi. We keep each other fit, entertained and loved. The amount of shed flying around is worth it. It is also a lot less since he is healthier and has regular brushing.

#5 in this video! Same thing happened with my corgi Buddy! I thought maybe it was my fault as an owner since I tend to be more introverted and less social as a person myself. But, Buddy also became more picky/choosy about dog friends while also being excited to get attention from any human he came across. Way more sociable as a puppy than as an adult.
@GandalfTheCorgi
@GandalfTheCorgi 11 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing! I do think this is a common thing for all dogs as they mature and many locate puppies especially since the puppies don’t understand social cues yet. However, with corgis this maybe be especially the due to their independent personalities.

Best video on why not to get a corgi I've seen! With our dog she has gotten more independent as she has gotten older. She does not play well with others and she only likes to be petted for about five seconds then she'll growl and snap at you. They are great dogs but they are no golden retriever when it comes to personality! Something I've definitely noticed is that male corgis tend to be more friendly than female Corgis.

Appreciate the compliment! Trying to get better with each video published! Yes, definitely many have temperaments that are extremely independent. While this is in many other breeds, corgis do tend to have a strong personality. Of course there are some that are submissive but I’ve seen more strong willed corgis.

@@GandalfTheCorgi take this for what it's worth but my advice to you, with Gandalf, is to lean HEAVILY into his staring marketability! I know you've done videos and shorts on it before but I would do extensive research on videos, shorts, memes and cartoons dealing with staring and eyeballs and come up with creative ways to incorporate that into videos, shorts and apparel and market that!! Those eyes and the dark circles around them are your money maker. Lean into that!

I appreciate the feedback. Definitely his crazy eyes have gotten a lot of attention especially on Instagram. Right now on KZbin, I'm really trying hard to break out of the meme category for the sake of growing this channel to new audiences. We're trying to get to the 4000 hours of watch time (counted on only long-form videos) to reach monetization status to give us an incentive for all the videos we are creating. Also, it helps me invest in some subscriptions tools and perhaps a video editor in the future so we can really generate some content efficiently. Right now, I'm trying to keep afloat multiple platforms and a full time job and essentially editing and scripting in the middle of the night half asleep. The good thing is we're starting to gain some traction in the training series and hoping to develop a few anchor pillars as this channel grows. I definitely will try to think of a way to feature his signature stare perhaps in skit form. Thanks again for your feedback and support!

All of your videos are so helpful, I don’t normally subscribe to KZbinrs on here but this is such a helpful channel. I just got a new corgi puppy and I looked through many unhelpful websites that just wasted my time. I love how you mention your dogs preferences in the videos also. I didn’t know that corgis were herders either. Thank you for being so helpful ❤

My Corgi, Winnie is 6 months and super affectionate. She absolutely Loves people, loves other pets, trains very easily and is a really super part of the family. She also potty trained as if she already knew. Also a regular brushing keeps The shedding low. I also use the furminator brush and shampoo and conditioner.

Interesting and lots of good points. I'm not sure about the fun police thing though! My corgi was always the life of the party and often has otherwise quiet dogs playing in seconds. He was always on for a game. The only time he ever barked was when he barked at me! Mine was a Cardigan Welsh Corgi and perhaps they have different inheritant characteristics than the Pembrokes. Love the video, thank you!
@GandalfTheCorgi
@GandalfTheCorgi 10 ай бұрын
Got it. I guess it really is a generalization. There are definitely outliers but I think there may be distinctions between Cardigan and Pembroke corgis as you suggested. Corgis are barky, but I usually follow up with the statement that there’s usually a good reason why they are barking. Thanks for your comment! Appreciate it!

100 percent accurate. Cute though they may be, corgis are not lap dogs, and you will have a miserable dog on your hands if you get one thinking they are lap dogs or will be happy lying around all day. They are like intelligent people in that they want and need a purpose.

Fun Police is exactly right. Wafflenwent from friends with everyone/dog to trying to keep other dogs from their owners because he thinks he is the better choice for that person. Just ordered my self cleaning robot vacuum to assist with fur management. I love that you also don't give treats. Waffle would weigh 100.lbs if I gave him treats all the time. Great video!!
@GandalfTheCorgi
@GandalfTheCorgi 11 ай бұрын
Appreciate your comment! Ya, that’s one of the main things I get annoyed about Gandalf and have to manage closely. Unfortunately, it does impede me from catching up with others since I can’t have a proper conversation. Otherwise, I need to keep an eye out on him vigilantly so he doesn’t go policing others having fun. The vacuum will help, but you’ll still have to bust out the conventional vacuum periodically as the robo vacuum is just for maintenance so that your house isn’t completely overrun by fur!

My grandson Rocket is not a big barker fortunately. He is a handful when I'm watching him! He wants to be on the go. He will sit and stare at me with purpose and those judging eyes! Corgi glitter was surprising to me since he's not a huge dog. Rocket is definitely intelligent and knows how to get what he wants 😂 He is pretty good with other dogs and always kicks his paws at dogs 5 times his size. He thinks he's the boss.

Thanks for sharing! Glad G’s not the only one! G’s been attacked a few times (another reason why we now rarely go to the dog park) so that may have contributed to his fear. But on the other hand, he really does like to herd the big fluffy dogs. Perhaps they resemble sheep! 🐑
