One of the other things to make a home look more elevated - keeping it clean! I'm a Realtor, and I had one of my high end listings where the house was filthy dirty, I couldn't get the client to hire a cleaner ($2 mil home and no cleaner?!) and I couldn't get the client to do a good job cleaning it either - talk about leaving money on the table. I've also had homes that were not high end and didn't have much upgrades but the owners were meticulous in how clean they kept their home and those I always broke sales records for the neighborhood. Buyers can tell when a home is well taken care of and they always feel those homes are worth more. Sort of the same concept with the fridge comment - that's one of my top tips for clients as well, clear off the fridge.
@marilynndesilva762011 ай бұрын
When we sold our home of 43 years in 2022 we were told by our realtor that ours was the best showing of all the homes at that time. As old as it was, it was well built, clean and uncluttered with attractive curb appeal. We hired a painter to freshen the interior, swapped out some dated light fixtures and got rid of furniture that didn't elevate the ambience (and which we were glad to donate). We didn't worry about updating the kitchen or bathrooms because the way the rooms were presented showed prospective buyers they could feel good about moving in and take their time modernizing. Some of the photos of homes for sale in our area were astonishing: Toilet seat up, laundry all over the bedroom, unmade bed, dirty dishes in the sink. I could go on... What were those people thinking!? 🤨P.S. I also cleared off the fridge disguised as a bulletin board and realized I should have done it long ago😂

I actually like the thin curtains, they give the cottagy look. Thick curtains do look luxurious but also too heavy sometimes. I think a home is not always about being luxurious (telling people you’re rich), Being cosy and welcoming is more important to me.

Hi Kristen! I’ve been meaning to leave a message for a while to say I absolutely love your channel! I’ve learned so much from you over the past year and I cannot thank you enough for all your tips and advice on how to elevate the look or your home. I finally feel like I have a clear idea of my style preference and how to achieve a more cohesive look to my home and have made a few changes and additions that have made a huge difference! Even my hubby is impressed with the things I’ve picked up from you and he’s noticed a few things we could make improvements to. He jokes with me about how much I talk about your advice and often says, ‘What would Kristen do?’ but he genuinely thinks it’s great and has actually been listening to what I’ve been telling him! I was drawn to your content because I love your lake house decor, it’s absolutely my cup of tea! And watching your videos is so relaxing too! Thanks again and I look forward to your next instalment. Authentic versus manufactured is another thing to take into account. When there are stories behind the items on display that’s different from trying to just buy things to tell a story. Whatever you like is what you like, but if your looking to have a coastal feel her point is you don’t have to buy little shell frames at Target and their are better ways to achieve the goal that might make you happier via a more authentic application such as your house more truly being how the houses in coastal areas are.

I couldn’t agree more on furniture design. I got only the couch and a table for 10 people, that’s folded when not using it, from a furniture store; other items coffee table, dining/ living wall stands, etc , got them out of online marketplaces or flea markets and garage sales. I learned to work with wooden furniture and refinish few coffee tables and sold them for a profit. Books shelves took me 3 years to build it but we got it done spending only 200 .00 dollars, maybe. Same with appliances, used stuff and recreate it 🙂 Thanks 🙏 for sharing your tips

I think it just depends on the person. These tips are fantastic if you want an expesive looking house or are putting a house up for sale. The room set up is also a fantastic tip. But not putting you family pictures on the fridge, and not having themed rooms just because it looks less fansy is silly uf you aren't selling a house. People have chicken themed kitchens because it makes them happy. The worked hard to own the house. No one should care what others think of their chicken statue. Again, these are awesome tips for selling houses or people who really care about looking stylish. But it should be noted most celebrities have themed rooms, animals statues, and random fish statues in their ocean side houses. And those people are millionaires. People should be careful about worrying about what others think. If you want a house with the style tips posed here, fantastic! Go for it! But don't change things because you want it to 'look expensive' just to show it off to people.
@vaderladyl11 ай бұрын
t agree on the theming. If you like your theme and makes you happy, that is all that matters. But also I say, it is not about being expensive, a term that is ill fitting at that, but about having a great sense of styling and presentation and having quality on your materials.
