Thank you for all the tips on your website. I discovered a couple for DOSbox I thought I'd share just in case. In game, press power and R1 together and it will activate the right joystick to use as a cursor. To exit any game, press L1 to bring up the onscreen keyboard. Highlight the left ctrl button on the keyboard and press B. Then highlight the F9 key and press A.

Great video! If you want a tip that will help allot, the menu in most emulators can be accessed by tapping the power button - it functions as a menu button in that regard and the exit emulator option is usually in the menu

Keep in mind, the only emulator I've been able to use an external USB controller to is the Atari 2600 (Stella) emulator using the stock firmware. That emulator only supports P0 and P1. So it's only 2-player (max). I've honestly not spent much time with the other emulators and hoping others can help test them out.

@@WagnersTechTalk OK, I got MAME4ALL to show up, but now my Neo Geo Emulator isn't showing any available games. I used the emulator to find one Neo Geo rom I put into a new folder, but it won't play. Plus I can't get MAME4ALL to recognize the new roms I've put onto it from my device. I don't quite know how to set up rom paths and refresh lists on these apps, or on this device. All the arcade roms are in the Final Burn Alpha folder, and the non Capcom games have bad frame rates on final burn

Ok, so I've been able to rip my dvd to my laptop then convert on handbrake. But for some reason when I play the file it's always a different language. So I went back to the audio tab on handbrake and changed it to english. And repeated the process and the same thing. What am I doing wrong? It seems like if the dvd I rip has any other language first on its list that's what it goes with. Even if I change it. The only ones that I've been able to convert that are english afterwards are at the top of the language list. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I used DVD Ripper years ago to rip my DVD videos to .MP4 and stored them on my NAS. Years later, got the RG-350 then imported the .mp4 and converted it from there. I've not tried ripping from DVD direct to .mp4 using Handbrake.

Hey, man, I know this is very late but I'm still with my RG350 and I come to you for tips. Would you happen to know how to play Mario Paint for the SNES on the 350? This game is controlled by a pointer and it will not respond to DPad or action buttons and I can't even launch the game with the Start button. On PC it's playable but handheld emulators it's not. Is .037 ROM set compatible with the mame version for this RG350? I have the full rom set on my GP2X handheld which was still around back when the Dingoo A320 was available. I think it's the same as mame4all, at least back around 2009. I'm considering getting the RG 350. What's a good price and where do you recommend buying it?

Hi Steven, not sure exactly what you have in mind. Are you talking about creating a favorites tab and putting games/emulators in there or favorites for specific games within the emulator(s)? In all honesty, I don't think it is something easily done either way with the RG350 UI. However, may be possible within Emulation Station (see videos from Mash Tec).

@@samantony7039 I don't think that's possible. Each emulator appears to be ported by different developers and from what I can tell, there is little consistency. Perhaps using emulation station or retroarch having favorites might be possible.

Howdy Caio! Sure, I was using the firmware that shipped with it, it was build 2019.10.18 (v1.5.0, I think). I wasn't able to use MAME, but I was able to use Stella (Atari 2600) after mapping the buttons for the 2nd controller. I haven't tried extremely hard, but stella was the only emulator that I was able to use an external controller with. Hope this helps!

Check out the tips page for a wireless controller solution (1-player only), it's not perfect but the only one "so-far". Investigating another option in the future.

I guess I would describe it as semi-hard. It does flex when pushed in, mostly on the sides of the case. So it's not a solid case. I could see the potential that the sticks could still get broken if someone stepped on the case with the RG350 in it or dropped something heavy on it. Hope this answers your question :)

Without converting it, it's a lot of wasted space. You'll see in this video where the original file was over 500MB, once converted it was around 14MB. Leaves more room for more movies as well as games. Plus, playback will be more efficient/smooth as the output is sized for the RG-350 screen. Hope that answers your question better!

Thing is, I watch videos on my phone in bed as I fall asleep but I don't like having it next to me due to the radiation. I just download youtube videos and such. This seemed like a good alternative plus I get retro gaming facilities! But the Android phone is perfect for videos as it has a great screen and the players on Android are amazing. Try this, launch a game. Press the Power button. Select Core settings, set Analog Mode to DualShock. Then press 'B' to go back twice and see if that helps.

MAME is an Arcade emulator, not a console emulator, so you won't find any cheats there. You press SELECT+START (after launching the game) and then you can re-map your buttons. It's really not hard to do yourself, but I understand the frustration. I've got quite a bit of info here to help: wagnerstechtalk.com/rg350tips/ A few quick tips: 1) Make sure your microSD is formatted as fat32 (if unsure how to do this, see the video on the tips page for "will these cards work" and below that you'll see the FAT32 Gui Format tool (just make sure you format the correct microSD!). Next, create a "ROMS" directory off the root of the microSD. I then create sub folders for each system such as: GB,GBC,NES,SNES, etc. Then, search for whatever games you want and copy into each of those subfolders. Before long, you'll be a pro :) Definitely check out the page, many common questions are covered there.

I ordered a pocket go 2 It uses the same software as the rg350 and I wanted to see how it was It has a single speaker but the volume goes louder than the rg350 It has a removable battery the battery is 2000mah the rg350 has 2500 mAh It's a little heavier than the rg350, it has no HDMI but the rg350 isn't set up for that yet anyway It has L1 L2 R1 R2 headphone jack power button menu button start select volume buttons It has two micro SD card slots on the front of the device one is for the operating system and any included games and the other one is for an external micro SD card It has one analog stick which I don't use anyway the battery is removable via the back cover unlike the rg350 where you have to take the screws out and pry it Loose from the back cover because it's taped Or put on with adhesive

Trying to cover as much as I can, even a simple 11min. video like this took me 12 hours to record, edit, voice over, artwork, description, website updates, etc. That's not including the previous time spent on figuring stuff out and updating the website with step-by-step instructions (this part usually comes first). You don't need a keyboard, you simply need to re-map the A/B buttons how you want. To do that, launch MAME4ALL/Smash TV. Press SELECT+START, move down to Input (this game) or you can do the same for "Input (general)" (applies to all MAME4all games), then select the button mapping. If you hose it up badly, this video will show you how to delete the .mame4all configuration to restore it to the factory state (button mappings for any other games will be deleted). I don't play SmashTV so can't confirm 100% it's going to work as you like, but these are the basic directions and how to recover if it gets messed up. Heads-up - Let me know how it goes, may take some experimentation.

@@WagnersTechTalk first of all thank you for the quick reply. sadly when i map them they dont stay. I tried in general /main and they wont change. I do use mame4all on my nvida shield and i have zero issues re-mapping buttons. but on the RG350 it seems to not take it =( have you remapped any and made it stay with what you mapped? i mean its not the end of the world lol but i would like to have the correct buttons. I tried everything.. wish i figured it out =(

Yes I have, particularly with Robotron 2084 to use the buttons for the right controls (since you can't map to the right stick - sadly). I wonder if it has something to do with the difference in firmware versions? If I go to Settings/About the build date of my RG350 firmware is Oct 10 2019. What does yours state? Just wondering as I've had some issues with other firmware releases and always seem to come back to this build.

I find plugging in the system via USB and using filezilla the easiest way do file transfers

FileZilla is pretty handy, yes. WinSCP is another that's pretty useful.

Really disappointed ReGBA doesn't allow button remapping for external controllers.

Press the ".." or "." highlighted sections until you do. Doing this goes "up" a level until you are at the root where you will find 'media'. Hope this helps!

@@WagnersTechTalk It did thank u. I copied over hundreds of 2600 games but on my system it only shows 8 games. Any idea why?

Could be that your external microSD, which I assume is where your games were installed, may not have been formatted as FAT32. Please see the tool mentioned below the orange block of text for a tool to format your external microSD as FAT32 (link here: wagnerstechtalk.com/rg350tips/#Links_to_the_microSD_cards_used_in_this_video ). Keep in mind, before you attempt to use that tool, you should backup your existing external microSD contents to your computer (by external, I mean the one you can easily remove from your RG350). If you format the microSD, it will wipe/delete everything from it and of course make sure you select the correct drive. Probably a good idea to watch the video above it before you attempt it as it provides more information about how to use the tool. Once re-formatted to FAT32, then re-copy all your games back on to the card.

@@WagnersTechTalk Thank u for taking the time to help. Yes it is formatted to Fat32 and as a matter of fact when i connect the SD to my laptop ALL games show up in the 2600 file. Once the card is back in the system it only shows those 8 games.

You're very welcome, I like trying to help! Could it be that you have a directory/folder that you're selecting that only contains the 8 games? Perhaps, you selected the wrong folder? Not assuming, I can't see obviously. But something to double-check.

Indeed they are! A cellphone doesn't have tactile buttons and joysticks, definitely not the same experience.

@@WagnersTechTalk I just bought one of these and it hadn't occurred to me to use it for watching videos, to each his own I suppose. Not sure how I feel about having to learn a different combination of buttons to exit out of each emulator, seems like a faff, is there no way to customise it?
