4:51 I notice you are downloading from openhandhelds Is it possible to run A320 games on the rg350? I'm pretty sure I've tried it and it didn't work. Are there only certain ones or something? Do you know if there is a version of picodrive that can play 32x games at anywhere near full speed? I asked someone who had a RG350 about the 32x and was told it ran it full speed no problem. But my rg350 will not run the games at anything like a playable speed.

I downloaded and installed mame4all for the rg350 (mine is a P). I have a full rom set for this build from the GP2X, which I also own. But I have no idea how to change where mame4all looks for ROMs. I cannot access the system card, even if I put it in a card reader in my linux desktop and so I cannot put it on that card. I want to put it on the other card with the other ROMs. Is there a way to do this?

See if this helps, from here: wagnerstechtalk.com/rg350tips/#Interesting_Tips My MAME4ALL button configuration is hosed, can I fix it? Sure, the following will delete the configuration for mame4all. Go to the applications tab and select DinguxCmdr. On the left-side, navigate to the root by pressing the ‘B’ button until you see a sub folder called media. Select the media folder (press ‘A’), select home (press ‘A’), select the .mame4all folder (press ‘X’), move down to Delete and press ‘A’. Then exit DinguxCmdr (press ‘Y’) move down to Quit (press ‘A’) and launch mame4all emulator. Press the “..” until you’re at the root and select /media/sdcard/roms/mame4all (or wherever you have your roms installed), then press the Start button. You should now see a list of mame roms, select one and press the ‘A’ button.

Since the RG350 has internet, is there already a browser opk? it would be a possibility to emulate the mouse with the stick and the buttons with L1 and R1 and to type with a virtual keyboard.

You'll need an OTG adapter and a WiFi dongle for internet access, which I assume you already have. However, I'm not aware of a Web Browser implementation. There may be, I just haven't run across it.

Hi Sean, thanks for your message and thank you for your kind offer to help me out (you're the first to do so)! Keep in mind, everything I'm posting to my tips page (here wagnerstechtalk.com/rg350tips ) is tutorial oriented. I'm documenting how-to's and creating videos to demonstrate, not actually coding the emulators themselves. You can get started today with the Vice (c-64) emulator here: rs97.bitgala.xyz/RG-350/localpack/extra_emulators/ and use the same basic instructions that you see on my page for the TI-99/Amstrad. That said, I would love to have some help documenting the steps on how to install/setup other emulators. If you do, e-mail what you write up to [e-mail] and I will apply it to my tips page for everyone to use. What I've found is, you don't need to upgrade your firmware for these emulators to work, it's a matter of installing the .opk to the proper folder, /media/data/apps adding bios, etc. One thing I can't do is link to any bios or rom's, please keep that in mind.

I might have, but don't recall having to add any bios files. What is it saying is missing? Make sure when navigating the menu, you navigate to /media/sdcard and your rom sub folder for launching the games. Let me know how it goes.

You copy them to the external microSD card in a folder for each emulator (i.e. \ROMS\NEOGEO, \ROMS\NES, etc. - name doesn't matter). Then, start the emulator and select the directory. The RG350M is sweet but for some reason it didn't copy the voice files onto the system. I know it's not the files because I downloaded Nostalgia for the PC and it works great.

I assume you're talking about the intellivision ivoice.bin. I've copied it just fine to my RG-350M from the instructions used here: wagnerstechtalk.com/rg350tips/#Intellivision . I just used DinguxCmdr to copy the file(s) to /usr/local/home/.intel/bios . Perhaps you copied it to the wrong subfolder?

@@WagnersTechTalk I actually found out what it is. The dingus-Int emulator has bugs in it, including no sound on Bomb Squad and B-17 bomber and games like Centipede and Demon Attack not working. I was able to get it to work 100% using the newer JZIntellivision emulator. I actually came back to this video because I was wondering if the Ti-99 emulator had sound now, but the boards I went on don't even mention the Ti-99 4A emulator.

For using the USB cable to transfer roms/emulators please see this: wagnerstechtalk.com/rg350tips/#Easy_Way_to_Copy_Files_to_your_RG350 (much more on that page, so may want to look around a bit). You can use the existing microSD card(s). I'm assuming you have an external microSD already (EXT). If not, it should be formatted as FAT32 but if you already have one that works, don't reformat it.

Do you do this on the same SD card... Or do you do this on other externalSD card? but doesn't the externalSDcard need the operating system on it as well.? Use the External (EXT) card for both emulators and games (my recommendation). For XMAME, I typically install to the internal since it's easier. For emulators, create a "apps" sub folder and place them there, the RG350M will recognize them and will show up in the emulators tab. I have a question about downloading new stuff on the device mate. Even if you have the stock firmware, can you add more homebrew games on it, for example, Mushroom Kingdom Fusion, Zelda The Golden Hero, Pokémon Empyrean and Sonic Time Twisted? Lemme know.

If they are .opk files, copy them to your external microSD, then copy them over using DinguxCmdr to your /media/data/apps folder. At least, I assume so, haven't tried adding more homebrew games but should work if they are .opk's. If not .opk's, just copy them to your microSD under /NES, /SNES and launch the associated emulator to play. Let me know how it goes.

A GBA Emulator is already installed, ReGBA. If you're talking about a Virtual Boy Emulator, I'm not aware of a Virtual Boy emulator for the RG350. Hope this helps!

Wagner's TechTalk I’m actually having issues with ReGBA. I’m trying to play certain games and a message will pop up saying “cannot play on this hardware” I’ve heard the fix for this is to change save settings to EPPROM but I can find no such settings in ReGBA.

From the tips page: How can I tell what Firmware Version I’m using? There really isn’t a perfect way, at present. The RG350 can tell you the build (compile) date, but that’s about it (this may change in future builds). At this point, this is a best-guess as to which firmware you’re running: 2019.10.10 (v1.4), 2019.10.18 (v1.5.0) & 2019.10.27 (v1.5.1). If none of the above dates are a match, I don’t know the answer.

how do you speed up loading roms in mame4all? it takes some time to read and load the roms on the external sd card and i got a new 128gb sandisk.

What game is taking a lot of time? On mine, it loads pretty much instantly (a second or two). When the message appears, just press the left/right arrows on the dpad a few times. Some games will have a self-test that runs, that's normal as it emulates exactly what the arcade machine does on boot up.

@@MangCnasal That list will only need to be cached once. Just browse to the directory and press START. Once you do that, everytime you launch MAME it will remember that cached list. Hope that helps :)

I'm so sorry, there is a lot of mis-information about these CFW (Custom Firmware Upgrades) going around. This is why I created my web page here: wagnerstechtalk.com/rg350fw/#Issues_Noticed Many are promoting upgrading the firmware, but I've tested each and have not found any compelling reason why anyone should upgrade at this time (when not testing, I use the stock firmware exclusively). If you have your original firmware on a separate microSD (I hope you do), go back to it and wait until I say it's stable for use. If not, I'm sorry but whoever recommended the upgrade was mistaken. Based on your reply of the issues, I presume you went with v1.7? Yes, it's easy to install but hard to revert. That said, I'm hopeful a future version will correct the issues introduced.

Might be something in the emulator having trouble with apps. that utilize speech synthesis (Parsec was one of them). From what I understand, the TI-99 port we're using was based on TI-99/Sim which can be found here: www.mrousseau.org/programs/ti99sim/ There is a utility to convert a .bin to a .ctg here: www.mrousseau.org/programs/ti99sim/README.html#TOC_4B I've not tried it, but something I remember during my brief bit of research on it.

Try using a powered USB hub connected to your computer, then the charging cable that came with your RG350 connected to the powered hub. Here's an example: amzn.to/39Ifd1G (I don't own one of these, but if were going to buy one Anker products perform well). I hope this helps.

Thanks for the video, nicely done. I do have a few questions: 1. I have the latest stable firmware - 1.5, and it has a C64, Amiga and 2600 Emulator - do they work? 2. I would really love to see the Vectrex Emulator working! 3. The original unit had a version of Tyrian, but the new one does not, I think it is freeware, do you know where I can get it back? or hint? 4. I saw that there is a Version of Emulation Station for this, I would love to see a frontend working on this, can you test ES or some other frontend?

For Amiga, it will need a kickstart+workbench rom to boot. Vectrex I'll get to when I can, I have it running on mine but not fully. c64 I've not tried yet. I'm also hoping to get ES running, stay tuned to my channel for pretty much everything you're asking. Trying to make my tips page the one stop for all rg350 info. Are you using stock or custom firmware? For the stock firmware, I didn't need to add the PS1 BIOS files to play the games I wanted to play but if you're not using stock you may need them.

I did. Dont put the 5200.rom into the /media/home/a5200 directory, it wont work. Instead put 5200.rom bios into /media/home and it works.

This all sounds GREAT, personally I'm really excited to see the TI-99 Emulator getting some love soon too (TI was my first love and why I decided to move into the tech industry). I'm also looking forward to the A5200 with sound, so this is all fantastic news. I'd be curious to know if he could possibly fix parsec? Aside from me, there have been a few asking about it. I'm assuming that game isn't working due to accessing the speech synthesizer and causing it to hang but that may not be the case. I'd love to be able to play that game on the RG-350, spent so many hours on it as a kid. Thanks again David!

Yes, use DinguxCmdr browse to /media/data/apps and select the .opk you want to delete. Then press the 'X' button, select 'Delete' and it's gone. Keep in mind, you may want to back it up to your external microSD before you delete it. Just incase you want to re-install it later. Hope this helps!

The RG-350 can play up to PS1, the CPU is not powerful enough for PSP emulation.

Thank you very much it seems like every emulator I use at the bottom of the screen it says level four and the gameplay is very difficult Maine 4 all -Neil Geo all of it mainly says level 4 at the bottom of the screen it came out of the box that way

I'm honestly totally lost as to what you're seeing. Please do this, take a picture (or two) of the entire screen of what you're seeing and e-mail them to [e-mail] . This is one of those I'll just have to see to understand.

Got it. That Level 4 you're seeing is something specific to that game (Art of Fighting). After launching the game, you can press SELECT+START, then move down to "Dip Switches", then down to "Machine Mode" and change it from Arcade to "Home". Then go down to "Return to Main Menu", then down to "Reset Game" and it will be in Home Arcade mode (not sure what that is really), press SELECT+START to hide the menu. When you start the game, you can select the difficulty level. But yeah, this is just a hard game - got my butt kicked badly too. If you try another game, like Ms. Pac-Man, Galaga, etc. you won't see the LEVEL=4. Just this game. Hope this helps!

Yes, the one in this video has sound. It was actually only the TI-99 that did not. Hope this helps.
