Playing professional sports is an arduous task for anyone. Some players decide to move on to have a more dynamic job, that doesn’t involve weekly doctor check ups. Also, some guys just decide to work after retirement from professional sports.
The thing is, sports isn’t a job that lasts you your whole life. Football has players who retire around 35-40 years old. After retirement, they can sit on the boatload of money they made as players, or do something productive with their lives. Whether it be something low-key or in the entertainment field these jobs continue to pay the bills, while some athletes live out the rest of their lives purposeless.

Deuce took up the ball after the Ricky Williams experiment failed??? Where on earth do you people get your information? Williams played 3 seasons with the Saints and is one of only three RBs in team history with 2 or more 1000 yard seasons and one of only 2 RBs in Saints history with back-to-back 1000 yard seasons. The other was Deuce McAllister. As to their overall NFL careers, Williams finished with 10,009 yards rushing and Deuce finished with 6096. Ricky Williams is one of only 29 RBs in NFL history with over 10,000+ rushing yards. He's one of only 17 RBs with 1800+ yards rushing in a season and he's one of only 39 RBs to have 5 seasons or more of 1000 yards rushing. And this is out of 3841 players who have ever played RB in NFL history. Failure? Not even close. Yeah, he walked away from the game to go sit on a mountain and smoke a boat load of ganja but that kid could play some football. Also, Deuce McAllister was done playing in 2008. The Saints won the Super Bowl following the 2009 season. He never played a down that season and wasn't on the roster. His Super Bowl ring is "Honorary" from the Saints organization.
