This does also fall short in analysis. Crowd psychology and crowd dynamics are a well researched and generally predictable area of science. Knowing the target demographic means we can predict what their normal and extreme responses will be, which means we can design the rides and parks around this - and many are, particularly the wealthiest ones with the highest daily visit counts which include both anti and counter surge designs for people rushing to get to or events and people trying to evacuate in an emergency equally. Even if we were as efficient with these descriptions as the rest of the video, that would only add 40 seconds extra description per event?

@@saucepart2electricboogaloo461 It's not "muh capitalism", you brain fried zoomer. If any system is going to result in corner cutting, it's going to be the crappy communist system where the government tells you how much you can charge for something. What really happened is the "normalization of deviance" where someone stops following the proper procedure, doesn't notice anything right way, and soon enough everyone keeps doing it because "oh, it's just as effective and saves time". This is because teenagers whose brains haven't fully developed (like yours) can't see/don't care about the long term ramifications of their actions until the chicken come home to roost.

@@saucepart2electricboogaloo461 a better word for that can be 'greed' as even places without capitalism still suffer skimped products for greed. Just saying. the other angle with capitalism is when customers get wind that a product is bad or it's simply a product they don't want, they don't buy it. then the company is forced to make the product good or go out of business like Volition Games did when their 2022 Saints Row reboot game that very few people wanted flopped.

New Texas Giant accident wasn't "explained in detail," in spite of the cause being well known. The deceased riders torso was not underneath the lap bar but riding on top of it. Therefore, she was not restrained and came out from under the lap bar easily. Controversy over this accident is one or more employees likely noticed this dangerous situation, but didn't use logic & common sense to figure out that this rider could leave her seat even though the lap bar was down & locked properly. Employees might've been reluctant to call attention to this, not wanting to refuse the lady her ride or embarrass her due to her obesity. There were no mechanical problems with New Texas Giant that day. The amusement industry did learn a valuable lesson over this accident and parks worldwide have initiated measures to prevent this from happening again.

Yep, the operators feel victim to “chronic niceness” and it cost that lady lower body. However, at the end of the day, nobody owes you safety. Don’t trust a high school kid with your life. It wasn’t the rider’s fault per say, but she should have known her limits.

@@davemccage7918what a dumb mindset to have on that incident. Regardless of their ages it is Six flags responsibility to provide a safe environment. She didn't speak much english and it's reported that she did ask to be double checked and let off and they reassured her. So yea she was concerned for her safety. I've gone to that six flags many times since childhood and many of the people employed there were people I had studied with. That park was slacking on safety and overall just knowledgeable staff until this incident lost them even more money and slapped them in the faces.

The first story is a prime example of what happens when you don’t follow the rules. But a lot of these other stories, the writers were just going about their day at an amusement park. That kind of stuff scares me because I love amusement parks. I love roller coasters and I always think that I’m going to be perfectly safe on them. ALL of them. Simple as that. If maintenance had been performed as specified by ride manufacturers - no accident. If park employees felt empowered to remove a guest who should not ride - no accident. If guests who don’t fit the the parameters of a rider and accepted they should not ride - no accident. If guests obeyed the safety signs and safety barriers meant to ensure their safety - no accident. None of these were caused by an “act of god”. I’ve yet to find an amusement accident that was unavoidable.

I remember an incident with the Great Nor'easter at Morey's Pier where a maintenance worker, in a restricted area while the ride was running, was struck by the foot of a rider and killed. This was back in the early '90s.

I think the most memorable coaster accident for me was the smiler at alton towers, where two trains collided in the batwing element.

Man, these things are not safe at all. And we really should ban that class 2 restraint, and use better restraints regardless of the classification of the track. Assuming that guests aren't gonna be dumb, like in the last accident of the video, is just a recipe for disaster. ESPECIALLY when they're children.

The Superman ride incident happened at my Six Flags a few months before I was born. It was reopened under a new name, Great Giant I think, then eventually renamed again back to Superman. I rode it once and only once, even properly strapped in you still feel like you're gonna fly out

Real hard to sympathize with grown adults who choose to ride a rollercoaster they're explicitly warned not to. There's literally no way they don't realize this, they took the blatant risk, that is what happened, oh well.

Little short on the analysis. The event description and outcomes are efficiently described, but without analysis of "This person was injured because of a combination of human factors" or "This ride failed due to poor foresight from the designers" at the end of it, you leave the audience to decide potentially {all these coasters and theme parks are unsafe and terrifying}

I love your content since you do a good job explaining each accident. One I would like you to cover one day is the 2011 Spinning Barrels accident at Holiday Park in Germany if there are good English translations of the articles about it. (I read on Wikipedia that the only reason the 11-year-old victim got into the restricted area was because someone had left the gate to it unlocked but want to know how and why it happened.)

The stupid part about the SFNE one is that it was the fault of the rider (for riding despite the warning sign at the front coinciding with his impairments) and the operators (for still letting him ride), yet the Intamin T-bars were still banned from Massachusetts over the incident despite doing their job properly
