Rising prices have affected my intention of retiring at 62, working part-time, and building my savings. I'm worried about whether individuals who weathered the 2008 financial crisis found it less challenging than my current situation. The stock market's volatility, coupled with a reduced income, is making me anxious about having enough for retirement.

For a retiree, to which medical services may be a prominent concern, Bisbee doesn't seem the optimal choice.

Off the top of my head, there are several states that I would not move to because of the political climate. I might chose 14,000 population Henderson TX, a retail hub in the Deep East Texas Piney Woods with all the big box retail, even a Chick-Fil-A and a UT Health hospital. It's halfway between 120,000 pop Tyler and the charming 35,,000 pop town of Nacogdoches. Actually, I'd look at smaller rural towns between Henderson and Tyler, or between there and Nac. This spring USA Today rated Tyler the best city in Texas. Check out the Tyler zoo. If you can tolerate Florida humidity, ET might be a step up in climate comfort. It's very conservative. Located between Dallas and Houston, but very different culturally. Some of the largest reservoirs in the USA are out there. Half the land is tall pines that shade the highway, the other is livestock. No mountains but southern Arkansas has hills. ET is as large as Trans-Pecos West Texas and the home of 2 million people. Very affordable for now. Tyler is a white collar jobs hub
